Chapter 33: Chapter 41: Not (having) A High IQ

So boring, so boring that even the Korean drama she had been looking forward to for over half a month no longer seemed to attract her.

After watching less than 20 minutes of the drama, Jane Sampson quit the video software and directly called Peter Gingery to join her in gaming. Once she logged into the game interface, she became so engrossed in playing that she completely forgot James Black existed.

Her mobile phone was on silent mode, but that couldn’t stop Jane from habitually adding her own sound effects while playing the game. The words that represented sounds were varied and colorful, occasionally mixed with Chinese Three Character Classic curses directed at Peter Gingery’s poor plays, and her posture had shifted from sitting like a hunched old woman to lying prone.

Due to Peter Gingery’s mistake that led to the failure of their tower push, Jane was so angry that she directly called him and gave him a piece of her mind. Her feet, agitated from her fit of temper, kicked around aimlessly, and she carelessly kicked the backrest pillow right onto James Black’s face. Seeing the backrest hit its target so precisely, Jane got scared, hung up the phone without a word, and ran back to her room without even bothering to put on her slippers.

She didn’t see James Black’s expression after the pillow fell, but Jane guessed it was probably the same color as the bottom of a pot. His skin, already tanned as if returning from Africa, had turned even darker, and she figured that if you turned off the lights at night, you wouldn’t be able to see him.

James Black sat in the living room for quite a while. His mood wasn’t particularly bad. He just watched the pillow that had hit his face then fallen onto his knee, and his eyebrows twitched.

As far as he could remember, Jane Sampson was the first person who dared to kick something onto his face. And run away immediately afterwards. Truly unprecedented.

James Black glanced back towards the bedroom, recalled Jane’s sprint there, and couldn’t help but curve his lips into a smile.

That little lass, she’s only grown in age, not in intelligence. If he were really angry and decided to go after her, did she think running into the bedroom would save her?

If she ran in there and didn’t even lock the door, wouldn’t that be a wasted effort?

James Black casually tossed the backrest pillow to the side and stood up to enter the bedroom. Seeing the person on the bed pretending to be asleep didn’t surprise him at all. He just looked at her silently for a few seconds from the doorway and then walked into the bathroom with a bath towel and pajamas. Jane Sampson had been on high alert from the moment James Black entered, unsure if he was the type to hit someone when furiously angry. But having seen James Black’s abs and biceps, Jane thought to herself that if he did hit someone, it must really hurt.

Fortunately, he stood at the door for a few seconds and then casually went to the bathroom, which made it seem like he wasn’t very angry.

Therefore, Jane thought that maybe the old sayings were not misleading her. Older men, they are more tolerant.

If anyone dared to kick a pillow onto Jane Sampson’s face, she would be ready to go all out and slash someone.

Lucky for her, James Black didn’t share her bad temper.

After sensing the all-clear, Jane finally poked her head out from under the quilt. After stewing for a few minutes, her face was as red as a ripe Fuji apple. She stood up, quickly lowered the temperature of the room’s air conditioner, and once she noticed the sound from the bathroom had stopped, she quickly lay back down and covered herself with the quilt, pretending to sleep.
