CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 259 - 267 Today is Saturday
Time flew by amidst a flurry of activity; by Friday night, after finishing nocturnal filming at 2 a.m., Jane Sampson arrived back at the hotel. Taking a bath was the last thing on her mind, as the first thing she did was check her mobile phone.
Seeing no missed calls, her emotions were a mix of relief and apprehension.
She was glad that James Black hadn’t called her, yet she worried about when he would.
It was like living with a knife hanging over her head, knowing it would fall but unable to predict exactly when. After taking a bath and lying down in bed, it was already around 3 a.m. Jane felt relieved that she had no scenes the next morning and could sleep in until a little past eleven before getting up for a meal, all the while reflecting on aspects of that day’s filming she could have perfected.
This was Jane’s first drama, and although Daniel Taylor did not spare her feelings when she made mistakes, he always took special care of her.
If Daniel hadn’t given her special attention, she would have still had scenes to shoot early the next morning after filming until 2 a.m. today.
After setting the alarm clock, Jane placed her mobile phone on the bedhead cabinet. Her eyelids were so heavy that they seemed to close almost as soon as they touched the pillow, and she fell into a deep sleep in just one second.
But the next morning, her phone rang before the alarm went off.
Jane, still groggy from sleep, reached for her phone without even opening her eyes and put it to her ear, muttering a groggy "hello?"
"Still asleep?"
The icy tone of James Black’s voice jolted Jane awake. Her eyes snapped open, and she immediately sat up, rubbing her bleary eyes with her hand.
"Uh, James...," Jane began slowly, and after another sluggish reply went on, "Last night was busy, so I went to sleep late. But, what time is it now?"
"Eight o’clock," James said.
Eight o’clock?
Jane blinked her eyes.
Was eight o’clock considered late?
She had planned on sleeping until eleven!
"You didn’t return home last night? Where did you go? What were you busy with?" James inundated her with questions through the phone that hit Jane like a barrage.
Jane bit her lips, hesitating for a few seconds before closing her eyes.

"I’ve come back to the small town to film. I was filming night scenes until two o’clock, so I woke up later this morning," Jane explained and then fell silent.
She could feel the change in James’s breathing on the other end of the phone.
"When did you go back?" his voice had turned stiff.
"A... two days ago," the day after you returned to the guard team, Jane added in her mind.
"Today is Saturday," James suddenly remarked.
"Ah, yes, I know." Of course, she knew; she remembered every day of the week vividly.
She had expected James’s call on Friday night, but instead, he had reached out on Saturday morning.
"If you knew, then why aren’t you at home?" James asked. "The deadline was this weekend."
"But didn’t we just meet a few days ago?" Jane said, taking it for granted. "So I thought the next time I’d go home would be in one month, right?"
"Did I agree with your assumption?" James’s voice had an undertone of darkness, his terse question indicating just how upset he was.
Jane let out a "huh," needing Chief Black’s approval for this too?
She didn’t think so.
James clutched the mobile phone, silent for quite a few seconds. The line was so quiet that Jane thought he might hang up, but then he said abruptly, "You left the day after I returned to the guard team."
