Chapter 241: Chapter 249: Making Rapid Progress?

"No, not at all."

Jane Sampson wasn’t lying; she knew nothing about Nina Rice planning to open a hot pot restaurant, and Nina had never mentioned anything about seeking investors.

"Hmm, when you have time, please try to persuade her more," Mother Rice thought it was possible that Nina had guessed she would consult Jane, which is why Nina hadn’t breathed a word to Jane.

Since Jane also didn’t know about it, Mother Rice didn’t go into too much detail about Nina, only wanting Jane to visit the Rice family when she had free time.

After hanging up the phone, Jane pondered hard over Nina’s tone during their recent call, anticipating that Nina hadn’t found the right investor from what Mother Rice implied. Yet, Jane hadn’t detected any urgency or a hint of bad mood in Nina’s voice.

It seemed that Nina planned to keep her completely in the dark.

Jane tossed her mobile phone onto the bed and immediately got up, pulling out all the drawers of the bedhead cabinet, she sat down on the floor, and started to sift through all her bank cards.

An hour later, Jane left her home. Before going out, she made sure to apply makeup, covering her lips, which James Black had kissed red, with bright red lipstick.

The place Nina and Jane agreed to meet was a private restaurant known for its confidentiality. As soon as she entered the private room, Jane took off her mask right away.

"Eating at the same table with a big star, I’m under so much pressure." Nina teased Jane while pouring her flower tea, her gaze lingering on Jane’s lips for a few seconds before exclaiming, "There’s a situation! Did you have a hard time separating from your Chief Black before leaving?"

Jane slumped into her chair, giving Nina across the table a glare, smacked her tongue, wondering why Nina, a solo flyer for many years, had such a sharp sense of observation.

Were her lips that obvious?

She had clearly put on lipstick!

Jane subconsciously touched her lips, then quickly moved her hand away feeling guilty, and said, "Stop talking nonsense, I’ve been bitten by a mosquito. James Black left for the guard team early, and I took a nap in the house, probably bitten by a male mosquito."

"Right, I’m really curious, what happened after you took the divorce agreement from me last time? So much time has passed, yet I haven’t heard any news about you and Chief Black divorcing?" Nina asked.

"That divorce agreement was torn to shreds as soon as I brought it home, then he left me with three words, ’In your dreams’," Jane shrugged helplessly.

"Don’t tell me you still want to divorce?" Nina sensed a note of regret in Jane’s tone.

"Uh..." Jane touched her nose tip, took a sip of the flower tea, then quietly changed the subject, "This tea here is quite nice."

No longer asserting as firmly as before her desire to divorce, Nina looked at Jane, her mouth curving into a smile, "Jane Sampson, has your relationship with Grand Chief Black recently taken a significant leap forward?"

"Who has a relationship with him?" Jane bristled as if her fur had been rubbed the wrong way, "We can’t stand each other! He annoys me so much!"

"Look at the Moments you’ve posted recently; which of them isn’t about him?" Nina scrolled through Jane’s Moments, pointing them out one by one, "Even the latest one is about Chief Black. With all this dog food you’re spreading, have you considered the feelings of us single dogs?"
