Chapter 155: Chapter 163: Not for You

"The tea leaves you bought for cooking tea eggs don’t taste good," Jane Sampson instinctively complained again, "they’re not fragrant at all; they’re wasting my culinary skills."

"So what do you want me to do?"

Jane’s words almost made James Black’s temper flare up again. He had already given in so much, and yet she was being stubborn.

"You go buy the tea leaves they use in the storefront for cooking tea eggs," Jane chuckled mischievously, "and after I’ve cooked them, I’ll take them to Peter Gingery! You help me give them to Peter." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Jane Sampson!" James Black gritted his teeth, "You’re re-gifting what I gave to you, to Peter Gingery? Is he your husband, or am I your husband?"

James Black swore, in this world, there was only one person who could push his temper to the edge while he still kept his cool, and that was Jane Sampson.

"Hey, hey, hey, alright already, no gift then," sensing that James was about to get angry again, Jane quickly compromised, secretly thinking she could just save the eggs and tea leaves to cook when Peter Gingery was on vacation.

"Mhm," James’s voice was harsh, "Now, immediately come home."

After hanging up the phone, Jane still made a face at her mobile phone. What Chief Black, what temper, huh?

"What did he say? Did he get mad at you?" Brooke Black asked with some concern.

"He asked me to come home right away; I can do whatever I want with the tea leaves in the refrigerator," Jane pouted, "He got fierce twice just now; it was so scary."

"He said you can do whatever you want with the tea leaves?" Not only Brooke Black but also Brooke Black’s husband was shocked, "Why?"

This reaction from James was beyond his expectations.

Suddenly, excited barking erupted from outside the door, with the Great General charging toward Jane.

Old Master Black appeared in the doorway at some point and had heard the conversations in the living room loud and clear.

"Why? Isn’t he just afraid that I’ll see his wife and make her divorce him, leaving him wifeless?" Old Master Black snorted, knowing full well since he raised James himself.

"Divorce?" Jane was taken aback, blinking, the drastic statement from the Old Sir made her forget the apology she had been ready to offer.

"What, are you happy about it?" Old Master Black’s beard bristled.

Jane instinctively nodded her head, then realizing she was not talking to James but to Old Sir, she stiffly circled her neck after nodding, pretending to massage herself, mumbling, "I haven’t slept well recently, my neck is sore."

Who was Old Master Black? An unrivaled judge of character, it wasn’t an exaggeration to call him a sage, and he could see right through Jane’s poor acting.

He glared at Jane, huffing, "In your dreams."

This response, one could only say, James Black truly was raised by Old Master Black himself.

Then he walked past Jane and sat down on the sofa, his gaze swept over her hands and immediately brightened.

"Is that for me that you’re holding?" Old Sir waved Jane over, "You’re already holding it, isn’t it heavy?"

Jane quickly hugged the tea leaves in her arms, shaking her head like a rattle drum, "It’s not for you."

Thinking of James’s instructions, Jane spoke and then ran off with long strides that left Old Sir staring in astonishment.

In just a few seconds, she was out the main gate; Old Master Black turned to Brooke Black and clicked his tongue three times, "This little lass suddenly became so lively; she doesn’t seem as cute anymore."

If this had been before, when she always put on airs, she would surely do whatever her grandfather said, never running as fast as a rabbit like today.
