CEO's Reborn Wife-Chapter 156 - 164: A Little More Patience
"Dad, should we call her back?" Brooke Black didn’t dare to admit that she had encouraged Jane Sampson to call James Black, which might have been the call that led their grandfather’s beloved granddaughter-in-law to run off, lively as ever.
"Call her back for what? She’ll be back in a few days at most. Sooner or later, she’s bound to return." A young lady who has done something wrong, if she doesn’t know to come back and apologize on her own, how could Old Master Black ever take a liking to such a granddaughter-in-law?
So Old Master Black wasn’t worried at all; Jane Sampson could run now, but she would have to come back in a couple of days.
After Jane ran out of the Black Family’s place and got in the car, she just drove away, not the least bit doubtful that Old Sir would chase after her for a box of tea leaves.
Having left the Black Family’s house, Jane directly went back home, put the tea leaves that had taken a stroll out of the refrigerator back in their place, and then she started waiting in the house for the box of free-range eggs and the tea leaves for the street-side tea eggs that James Black had promised.
Fortunately, Jane didn’t have to wait too long; the doorbell rang at home, and she took a not-so-big box containing eggs and a red plastic bag with something unknown in it from the delivery person, said her thanks, and carried the stuff back to the living room.
Without opening it, she knew the box contained eggs, so the contents of the red bag must be the tea leaves.
Excited, Jane opened the bag, took a look, touched it, and then, looking puzzled, she scratched her head and pulled out her mobile phone to give James Black a call.
James Black had just received a call from the delivery person, and at this time, getting a call from Jane, he guessed why she was calling.
"Hello, James Black, I received the eggs, but are these tea leaves a bit off?" Jane shook the stems in her palm that resembled small tree branches, playing with them while speaking, "I may not be a tea drinker, but I’ve often seen you and grandfather drinking tea. Did you think you could fool me into believing that these tiny tree twigs and a few leaves of god-knows-what were tea leaves for making tea eggs?"
James Black originally thought Jane would thank him to show her appreciation for the gift she received, but instead, Jane seemed to think he was trying to deceive her.
Listening to Jane’s words, James Black wasn’t sure whether to say that she had seen too much of the very finest tea leaves or to say that she had seen too little, not knowing even the poorest quality tea leaves.
A street-side tea egg costs how much, at most 2 bucks? Some are only one and a half, or even one buck each, and high-quality tea leaves? A couple of ounces could probably keep Jane eating tea eggs for years.
But James Black didn’t state this directly.
His voice was nonchalant as he explained, "I had someone specially go to the shop that sells tea eggs on the street to buy them from the boss. The person who went did so to get you the tea leaves you’d like, tasted tea eggs along the entire street, and eventually picked the most fragrant one. If you don’t believe me, you’ll know once you cook them and taste for yourself."
If this had been anyone else, James Black wouldn’t have bothered explaining. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
However, as Jane Sampson was his wife, he had to try to give her a little more patience and tolerance.
Jane somewhat skeptically let out an "Oh," then leaned down closer to the bag, and indeed, she could smell a faint, almost imperceptible fragrance of tea leaves.
