Chapter 154: Chapter 162: Going Home Now

James Black regretted answering Jane Sampson’s call somewhat, upon hearing that his tea leaves had been taken out—and that he was concerned Old Sir might not like them—only to find out that Jane had used his tea leaves to make tea eggs that she then complained didn’t taste good.

James Black gripped his mobile phone a little tighter, almost involuntarily.

"Jane Sampson," James Black’s voice was dark, "you must have cooked up all the ambition and courage in the world at once."

"???" Jane Sampson’s heart skipped a beat, everything was fine, so why did he suddenly get angry? Was it because he was still holding a grudge from last night when she shattered his male pride?

But he was fine when he woke up this morning, even holding her as they went back to their room to continue sleeping in.

"Also, I won’t be coming back next week." He was afraid that seeing Jane Sampson again would make it hard for him to resist giving her a piece of his mind.

"Ah? Ah~ Oh."

The first "Ah" was her confusion about why he changed so suddenly.

The second "Ah" meant she understood; he might be going out for tasks.

The "Oh" meant that she probably wouldn’t be home next week either.

"Also, don’t touch the tea leaves in my refrigerator anymore." James Black paused, then added, "And the tea leaves you took, Old Sir shouldn’t drink them. Now, take the tea leaves and go home, and don’t come back to the Black Family for the time being."

"Shouldn’t drink?" Jane Sampson noted James Black’s choice of words; it was shouldn’t drink, not doesn’t like to drink.

"Grandfather has a weak stomach, the tea leaves I keep in the fridge can cause stomach damage if consumed too much." James Black wasn’t reluctant to share his tea with Old Sir, it’s just that Old Sir, like him, drank tea every day, after meals, and whenever he was idle with nothing else to do.

The very tea that Old Sir shouldn’t drink was, coincidentally, Old Sir’s favorite.

"Then I’ll put the tea leaves back in the car. Tell me which tea is suitable for grandfather, and while he’s not yet home, I’ll go buy some. I’ll try to buy his favorite and bribe him with it, so he won’t be so angry." Jane Sampson was here to make amends, she had mustered the courage, and it made no sense for her to retreat without even seeing him.

Old Sir would only get angrier if he knew.

"Jane Sampson, I’m not consulting with you or seeking your opinion, understand? I want you to go home now." James Black truly didn’t doubt that if Old Sir brought up the issue of divorce with Jane Sampson, she would agree outright and happily sign the papers, then leave without even wanting a dime to pack her things and go.

So, knowing that Old Sir wasn’t home right now, James Black didn’t want Jane Sampson to see him before Old Sir had a chance to cool down.

There was an edge to James Black’s voice that startled Jane Sampson a bit.

After many years, it was the first time she had heard him speak to her with such severity. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Noticing the change in Jane Sampson’s expression, Brooke Black felt some remorse; how could she, as a senior, joke with a child like that?

James Black wouldn’t have scolded Jane Sampson over the phone, would he?

Brooke Black had seen James Black angry before; when he’s angry, it’s not like he screams hysterically or becomes physically aggressive. However, the tone and demeanor he adopts when angry can truly be frightening.

Not hearing a peep from Jane Sampson after a while, James Black felt a headache coming on.

He sighed almost imperceptibly and deliberately softened his voice as much as possible: "If you go home now, I’ll have someone send a box of free-range eggs your way. As for the tea leaves in the fridge, do what you like with them."

He still wasn’t good at placating people, and he still wasn’t quite sure how to get along with Jane Sampson, his wife.
