Chapter 153: Chapter 161: Not Tasty

"They came from the fridge, must be James who put them there." Jane Sampson scratched her head, then sat down next to Brooke Black and asked, "Grandpa must be in a good mood this morning, right?" Otherwise, he wouldn’t have gone to walk the dog.

"I have no clue." Brooke replied on purpose, even though Old Master Black had been elated all morning after reading the overwhelmingly positive comments about Jane on the internet upon waking up.

But that was something she couldn’t say, as Old Master Black was playing coy even with James, so Brooke wasn’t entirely sure what kind of ’policy’ the old man was planning to adopt with Jane.

"Auntie, stop teasing me," Jane moved even closer to Brooke and asked, "Do you think Grandpa will like this tea?"

"What if I say he won’t like it, what are you going to do?" Brooke asked. As soon as she said that, her husband glanced at her.

"I’ll throw it out, and I’ll go buy something that Grandpa will like before he comes back," Jane said as she stood up. "Auntie, tell me what kind of tea Grandpa likes to drink."

"Why don’t you ask James? He definitely knows." Brooke raised her eyebrows, then took a sip of her coffee with a faint smile playing on her lips.

Jane muttered to herself, certain that it definitely wouldn’t be coffee.

Uncle Black couldn’t help but glance at his wife again, not having realized before how much she enjoyed teasing people.

When he saw Jane actually pulling out her phone and making a call to James, Uncle Black’s mouth twitched slightly, thinking to himself that once James found out his carefully hidden tea was carelessly pulled out by Jane, taken around the Black Family home, and even now at the brink of being thrown away, he wondered if James would rush back from the team base to strangle Jane.

In fact, for James, who almost never received a call from someone who had left home just a few hours earlier like Jane today, he was momentarily stunned when he saw the caller ID.

"Hello?" James answered the phone.

"You’re not busy, are you?" Jane figured this topic might take a few minutes so she wanted to make sure James was free.

"That depends on what you need me for." James was always a particularly rational person.

"I wanted to ask which tea leaves your grandfather likes? I took a box from the fridge at home, but I’m not sure if Grandpa would like it, so I wanted to check with you." Jane mumbled, "There seem to be many differences between each kind of tea leaf, and since you and Grandpa both enjoy tea, you must be familiar with his preferences."

After pausing for a few seconds, Jane added, "It’s just that I think the tea leaves you kept in the fridge are not fragrant. Last time, Auntie brought me some eggs and I used the tea leaves from the fridge to make tea eggs, but they didn’t taste as aromatic as the ones from storefronts."

Fearing that James might blame her culinary skills, Jane quickly added, "You know I’m a good cook."

Brooke ended up spitting out a mouthful of her coffee all over the place.

Oh dear, it looks like James might just take a flight from the team base to give Jane a good thrashing, doesn’t it? To have used his precious tea leaves to make tea eggs was one thing, but to then complain about them to the treasure’s owner was quite another — Brooke thought, borrowing a phrase from the internet, "One can only imagine the size of James’s mental shadow right now."
