Chapter 1490: Chapter 1498: Need to Mention

And for James Black, one is his beloved wife, and the other is the person most important to his wife.

Before, she was one of two; now, she is the only one.

"Let’s go, get in the car and head back." Granny Sampton took Jane Sampson’s hand and got into the rear seat before saying, "Take me back to the countryside first, then you all can go on with your own things."

"Grandma, you need to come back with me to the Sampton Family." Bright Sampton blurted out, "I don’t feel at ease with you alone in the countryside."

"What’s there to be uneasy about? I’m perfectly fine with my hands and feet, and there is a nanny at the house to take care of me." Granny Sampton shook her head, "I need to go back to the countryside to live. That’s the home your grandpa and I share. I also need to go back to sort through your grandpa’s belongings."

"Then I’ll go to the countryside with Sister and stay with you," Bright Sampton said.

"Yes," Jane Sampson nodded in agreement.

"I want some peace and quiet, and I find you two siblings too noisy." Granny Sampton chuckled lightly, "Don’t worry, I’m doing well and have come to terms with it. Your grandpa and I are old; sooner or later, this day would come."

Granny Sampton was still speaking when Bright Sampton’s mobile phone suddenly rang.

Bright Sampton picked it up and saw it was a call from Father Sampton. Without thinking much, he answered.

Father Sampton first asked about Granny Sampton’s situation. Upon hearing Bright Sampton say they were just about to head back and planned to send Granny Sampton to the countryside, Father Sampton immediately scolded Bright Sampton for being inconsiderate.

Granny Sampton was sitting inside the car, hearing everything loud and clear. Without hesitation, she took Bright Sampton’s mobile phone and said, "It was my insistence to return to the countryside to live. Why are you scolding Bright? You should focus on managing your biological daughter before trying to manage my grandson."

Granny Sampton couldn’t suppress the disgust and hatred she felt toward Julie Sampton.

"Mom~" Father Sampton called out helplessly. After glancing at Julie Sampton, who was sitting nearby, waiting for him to speak, he adjusted his tone and said, "Then I’ll drive over to accompany you for a while."

After he said that, Father Sampton hung up the phone.

"Dad, why didn’t you mention it to Grandma?" Julie Sampson asked unhappily when she noticed her father had hung up without addressing her issue.

"Your grandma isn’t coming here, so what should I mention? Do you expect me, as her son, to talk about such a significant matter over the phone?" Father Sampton replied irritably, before adding, "At noon, you and your mom will eat at home. I’ll head to the countryside to find your grandma and stay there for one night. Tonight, I won’t be coming back."

After he finished speaking, Father Sampton grabbed the car key and left.

Father Sampton drove fast. By the time James Black and the others reached the countryside, Father Sampton was already sitting in the house, waiting. It was the nanny who opened the door for him.

When he saw James Black, Jane Sampson, and Bright Sampson all there, a thought sprang in Father Sampton’s mind. At least he still had these two children who could help him take care of his mother. If everyone were like Julie, he couldn’t imagine how much more troubled he would be.

Mother Sampton didn’t give Father Sampton much of a friendly expression when she saw him.

Father Sampton simply assumed that his father’s passing had been a huge blow to his mother and that her lack of cheerfulness was due to that. After the group entered the house, Mother Sampton said she wanted to go upstairs to rest and began urging everyone to leave. Father Sampton promptly said, "Mom, I’ll help you to your room."

Acting like a devoted son, Father Sampton assisted Mother Sampton while saying to Jane Sampson and the others, "You all head back first. I’ll stay here tonight to keep Grandma company. In the future, when you have free time, make sure to visit her more often."

Jane Sampson and Bright Sampson responded affirmatively, and Father Sampson didn’t say anything more as he led Granny Sampton to her room.

Once the room door was closed, Father Sampton spoke up abruptly, "Mom, there’s something I need to tell you."
