Chapter 1449: Chapter 1457: You’re Still Exposing It

Laughing at someone behind their back and just happening to be overheard by that very person makes for an awkward situation, no matter how you slice it.

Kane Forest walked up to Jane Sampson, raised his eyebrows slightly, "Am I really that useless to you?"

Jane Sampson slowly turned around, with a sly smile toward Kane Forest, "Can’t you just pretend you didn’t hear me belittling you? You calling me out like that, how awkward is that, right?"

Following that, Jane Sampson touched her nose tip with her hand, "Really can’t just murmur about people behind their backs, no sooner murmured about, and who you’re talking about shows up."

Kane Forest was also amused by Jane Sampson’s words, "I can’t see where you think you’re being awkward."

"You’re still pointing it out!" Jane Sampson’s eyes widened as she covered her face and ran off with Nina Rice, their laughter trailing behind them, "Ah, this is so awkward, so awkward I’m embarrassed."

Nina Rice was close to giving Jane Sampson a thumbs up, only someone as capable as her could turn such an awkward scene into something so funny.

"Mimi Wood wasn’t wrong, I can’t see where you think you’re being awkward," Nina Rice teased Jane Sampson.

Peter Gingery got the people he contacted to act quickly; they shopped at the biggest supermarket in the city district and delivered everything directly. Running errands during the New Year isn’t cheap, but they were careful in selecting ingredients and the vegetables were very fresh.

Once the ingredients arrived, a group of people squeezed into the kitchen to help with the cleanup. It was agreed from the start that Jane Sampson, the head chef, only needed to do the cooking. She would do the washing, and she would only move when it was something she needed to chop or clean up herself.

Jane Sampson sat alone in the living room watching TV, listening to the occasional laughter and cheerful voices from the kitchen, and amidst the laughter, she thought she could still hear Rachel Miller’s voice.

Thinking of Rachel Miller, Jane Sampson couldn’t help but pick up her mobile phone to check. James Black should be back at the guard team by now, probably busy, hence he hadn’t checked his phone and hadn’t replied to her messages yet.

Jane Sampson could tell, since she had mocked and rejected him, Rachel Miller’s expression had changed a bit, and his mood had shifted too, but in front of everyone else, Rachel Miller still knew how to pretend.

Lunch went smoothly, except for when Jane Sampson got distracted while cutting vegetables and accidentally nicked her hand.

While Jane Sampson was busy in the kitchen, everyone else stayed in the kitchen busy with their competition. After Jane Sampson had finished all her dishes and served them on the table, the group of people also followed the fragrance out of the kitchen.

The funniest were Peter Gingery and Nina Rice, who came out following the great guard team, completely forgetting the dish they were tasked with in the kitchen. It wasn’t until Oscar Wilson reminded them that they rushed back to the kitchen with loud exclamations.

But Oscar Wilson was a man of cunning and ill intention; though he remembered the kitchen duty all along, he deliberately waited until he smelled something burning before reminding them.

"Oh my goodness! Goddess Sampton is truly a great chef!" Hardly Named, sitting next to the table, was about to die of laughter, "Goddess, may I take a photo and then post it on twitter and Moments? I really want to show off!"

"Sure!" Jane Sampson nodded, "Remember to tag me when you post on twitter!"

Hardly Named was stunned for a moment, then burst into hysterical laughter.

She understood what Jane Sampson meant by mutual following; to her, this was an unexpected bounty, a pie from the sky that smacked her over the head, leaving her overjoyed.

Goddess Sampton turned out to be even more amiable than she initially thought, truly without pretense.
