The teammate was momentarily stunned, then nodded repeatedly as realization dawned on him. After Peter Gingery let go of him, he even thanked Peter.

Oh right, in his elation, he had forgotten that there was a Chief in front of him, resembling a grand Buddha.

"Peter Gingery," James Black said with furrowed brows as he watched Peter bounce around like an over-excited monkey, "Sit back down."

Peter chuckled three times, quietly, and obediently sat back down, then hastily sent Jane Sampson a text message. But for some reason, Jane never replied no matter how busy she might be.

When the train arrived at the station, the group headed straight back to the guard team.

Peter’s nerves were still on edge; he wanted to stay with James Black, but since James was heading to the office, Peter couldn’t follow.

In the office, James immediately dove into some important documents that had piled up over the last few days. When he got up to get water, he could see from the window below that people were walking by, arm in arm, not sure what they were saying, but their smiling faces were brimming with the joys of spring.

"William King, come in for a moment," James called his communications soldier into the office. "I haven’t been at the guard team these two days; was there something joyful happening?"

"Ah? Joyful? No, not at all," William King said, looking utterly bewildered.

"Then what are these people so happy about? They’re all gathered in groups talking about what?" James asked, pointing at the people passing downstairs.

William King’s face turned stiff, and he stammered without saying a word for a long while, his heart racing with the thought that these people really should learn to hide their frivolous hearts in front of the Chief. How was he supposed to answer such a question?

"Speak," James said, not the kind of person to have great patience, so seeing William King’s hesitant manner, his voice turned cold as he pressed for an answer.

Although William was James’s communications soldier, he was also afraid of James. With James’s expression so visibly dark, he would rather face a beating from his teammates than not speak the truth.

"It’s just that everyone has recently become infatuated with a new star. She’s very beautiful, and everyone’s been talking about her lately," William King’s mouth twitched as he spoke, "Perhaps because it’s a new topic, everyone’s enthusiasm for this subject has been quite high."

Not only is she beautiful, but her name is also especially nice to hear," William King cautiously observed James’s expression while trying to lavish praise on the star he had recently starting crushing on, "Jane Sampson is different from other stars."

"You can leave now," said James as he put down the water cup in his hand and massaged his temples. Once William King had left, he took out his mobile phone.

James was not addicted to the mobile internet, but that didn’t mean he didn’t know how to use it.

After googling Jane Sampson’s name, the content on the top of the page that popped up wasn’t videos of Jane playing the piano from before—but twitter hot topics.

As James clicked in and took a look around, his face became so gloomy it was nearly dripping ink.

So this was her ’work’? Engaging in artistic work?

"William King, I have an emergency and need to go home," James told William, took his car key, and immediately left the guard team.
