CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 61: Buy a Gift
Jayson was already awake and back in his room when Henry and Amy arrive at the hospital to check on him. His grandparents and Jena went there early in the morning to wait for him to be transferred into the VIP room.
"My favorite nephew is looking good, you make me so happy," Amy beamed when she entered the room seeing Jayson sitting and eating his lunch. She and Henry went to the bookstore before going to the hospital to buy something for Jayson so he would not get bored while recuperating.
Amy extended her hand as she hold 2 paper bags from the bookstore, "Here take it."
Jayson rejoiced as he have an idea of what is inside, "I am your only nephew Aunt Amy so I am really your only favorite. Wow, this is a lot. Thank you!"
"I figured you will be bored so I bought different educational toys and activity books that you might like."
Amy then looked at Jena who seems to be sulking for not receiving books like his brother. But the little girl stayed quiet and just pouted by herself.
Amy elbowed Henry who was beside her and was keeping the paper bag for Jena behind his back. Henry laughed internally upon seeing the pouting girl sitting on the sofa in the corner of the room while staring at her tiny hands.
Henry walked to where Jena is and crouch in front of the sofa to meet her gaze. He then showed the paper bag in his hands and she automatically grin at the sight of it. Jena took the paper bag full of coloring books and crayons and hugged it like a doll.
"You thought we forgot you don’t you?" Jena nodded but the smile on her face did not falter.
Henry tousled her head and said, "From now on both of you should not hesitate to ask me anything that you want. If you get good grades and behave well, I will buy it for you, do you understand?" both the children agreed in unison.
Henry then stood up and faced their grandparents, "I hired some teachers for Jena and Jayson and they will start on Wednesday. I also hired a nanny so the both of you can have more rest. Martha is still looking for schools for Jena since it will be a while before you can go back to our country."
"Thank you for all these Henry," Alice hugged Henry in appreciation while Robert shook his hand.
After checking Jayson’s well-being and talking to the lead surgeon and his pediatrician for updates, Henry, and Amy decided to go after Alice and Robert shooed them away since Jayson still need a lot of rest after coming out from the recovery room.
The couple wanted them to spend more time together hoping that their relationship will bloom more seeing how good they looked together. They also notice that Amy has been smiling a lot lately whenever she is with Henry. Plus, there’s really nothing that they can do in the hospital while Jayson is sleeping.
"It is still early to go home, where do you want to go," Henry asked as they walk towards the car park.
"Can we go to the mall? I need to buy a gift for Mary," and that’s where Henry took her.
The two were looking over some bags and shoes when they bumped into Mr. Wilson’s son. "So the rumor is true, you are in the country and you didn’t bother to see me."
Henry shook his hand firmly and stretched out his other arm to hug the man like a long-lost brother, "We were on a tight schedule, and I didn’t know you were in the capital." Henry then put his hand on Amy’s back, "Meet your future sister-in-law, Amy. This is Jonathan, Mr. Wilson’s son"
And like father like son, Jonathan grabbed Amy and gave her a big hug. "Why did you allow this man to fool you?" He said with a humorous jest.
"You surely are Mr. Wilson’s son. And I haven’t said yes," Amy laughed lightly at Jonathan and she did not question Henry why he introduced her like that since she already have an idea how close he was to Mr. Wilson’s family.
"Your father didn’t mention that you are here, if I knew I would have came to see you," Henry commented.
"He doesn’t know I am here. I am looking for something to buy for mom and dad’s wedding anniversary. Oh, I am throwing a surprise party for them on Wednesday, you should come.
And now that I think about it, you are the key to how I can bring them to the venue." Jonathan then put his arm around Henry’s shoulder to strangle his neck playfully.
"Stop that, and grow up, I am not going to participate in one of your pranks again," Henry said as he push Jonathan’s arm away.
"No pranks this time," he took a blank invitation from his bag and gave it to Henry. "Here, take this, this is the venue and time. No need to put anything in there since the place is yours anyway, they will let you in without it. Just make sure to bring mom and dad on time there."
Henry took the card and nodded, "Nice to meet you Amy, but I got to go, see you at the party," Jonathan left the two as he goes his way.
"You’ve got interesting friends, Henry," Amy stated as she watch Jonathan’s back fade into the crowd.
"He and his dad are jolly people, while his mom is a caring and thoughtful person, come on, we also need to buy a dress for you, this looks like a grand anniversary celebration. We also need to convince Mr. and Mrs. Wilson to join us there," Henry clasp his hand on Amy’s and tugged her to the expensive boutiques to buy their gifts for Mary, for the old couple and her dress.
It was past dinner when the two went home and Amy slumped on the bed as she felt so tired after hours of browsing for items that Mary might like. But not only that they have to buy a gift for her best friend, but they also searched for an appropriate gift for Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and dress for her since they didn’t expect that they will be attending a formal party there. She didn’t bring anything from her country.
Henry didn’t go to their room right away for Martha called him up to talk about the schools she found for Jena and some matters that he needs to attend. After resting for a bit she stood up to unpack the things that they bought.
She opened the box that cases her gift to Mary. She only looked at it and noted to herself to buy it someday for Mary since it is expensive and she doesn’t have enough money to buy it now. But of course, her rich boyfriend saw her looking at it while he was also looking for gifts for the old couple and told the shop attendant to pack it up without her knowledge.
She smiled when she recalled how Henry gave it to her...
"Let’s go home," Henry said after they ate dinner at an Italian restaurant.
"But I haven’t bought a gift for Mary yet. Everything in this mall is expensive. Can we maybe go to a different mall tomorrow?" Amy protested in return.
Henry bent down and took a box from the paper bag that contain his gift for Mr. and Mrs. Wilson and placed it on the table in front of Amy. It was a square box that made Amy frown.
"What is this?" She asked before opening it. Her eyes sparkled upon seeing the content of it.
"That is what you wanted to give to Mary right?" Henry asked as he sip on his red wine.
"How did you know?" Amy pulled out the gift to take a closer look.
"I saw you staring at it earlier and seeing the design of it, I figure that it is for best friends."
"Henry, you don’t have to buy this, I was actually saving for it. Can I at least pay you back?"
"Okay, but I don’t want your money, I have lots of it. Pay me back in a different way," he look at her intensely as he say his words and his lips pulled up at the thought of it which Amy didn’t see as she was busy checking her gift.
"Let me know when can I pay you back then," she casually replied as she return the item back in its box.
Her reminiscing was cut off when a maid knock, "Excuse me, madam, Mr. Welsh needs you in his study."
Amy quickly followed the maid downstairs, curious about what matter Henry needed her attention.
Martha and Alice were in the study too when she got in. "The three of us had narrowed down the schools that you might want to enroll Jena in, come sit here and take a look," Henry tap the seat beside him for her to sit.
"These are all private schools Henry, are there any public ones near here? You have done so much for us already," Amy is flattered that Henry is taking initiative in taking care of her family but she doesn’t want to impose since it is not his responsibility but hers.
"What are you talking about? There’s no way I will allow that, you plan to adopt them soon right? So it’s only right that I give only the best to my future children," he said as he flip the portfolio of the schools they have on the list.
Martha and Alice looked at each other with meaningful smiles on their faces and giggled to themselves. Henry announcing in front of them his intention of marrying Amy and adopting the kids was music to their ears.
Martha took care of Henry during his college years and treated him like a son she saw how sad and lonely his life was without his parents and she only wants him to find the love of his life and build a family of his own someday which she thought would not happen with how he plays around with women.
Alice on the other hand was happy as well. Even though Amy is not her blood, but the sister of her son-in-law, they treated her as their own for they only have one child and they can see how much she loves her grandchildren. So if there will be a person who she wants to adopt her grandchildren, it will be their Aunt Amy.
