CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 60: Rooftop (2)
"You’re a good man Henry," Amy can’t help but praise him as they stare into the lights in the cityscape.
"I’m happy that you see me that way, but not everyone does," Henry tighten his hug on her as if someone will steal her away.
"I heard some negative things about you before but knowing you now, I am sure they are not true," Amy crinkled her face and bit her lips, she didn’t mean to say that out loud, she is sure that Henry will ask her about it. She instantly regretted what she blurted out.
"Like what? People will always have things to say but what did hear about me?" he persistently asked her.
"That you, you are a brutal man when it comes to business," her answer was short and fast, wanting to dismiss the subject right away.
"There’s some truth to it. I am a not-so-forgiving man Amy. If someone harms me or my loved ones, I don’t sit and do nothing. I don’t get even either. I make sure that person will suffer."
Amy gulped at his statement. She felt the darkness in his voice, she knows that it was not just something that he blurted out, but something that he will definitely do.
"What else did you hear?" Amy’s starting to feel like she’s being choked. She doesn’t want to bring it up anymore for it might sour his mood, their mood in that lovely place.
"T-That you don’t respect women," She tersely answers.
Henry holds both her arms to turn her around so she can face him. He slightly swayed her hair on her forehead before kissing it. "I did. In the past... Before you... You know that right?" Henry looked directly into her eyes making sure that he gets his message across.
Amy nodded and gave a faint smile, conflicted with her feelings. She does believe Henry but it’s herself she does not trust. Henry misinterpreted her reaction and added, "You are very important to me Amy, please do not ever compare yourself to the other women I have been with. You are no match to them, I love you."
Before she could respond, Henry sealed her lips with his own. His kiss was passionate and gentle. Amy wrapped her arms around her neck and pulled him closer, she felt Henry’s smile under their kiss.
Her feelings for Henry are growing day by day. She can see how good of a man he is and someone that she can see herself with in the future. His care for her family is also helping her to fall for him.
Her fear of losing someone again is slowly dissipating. She felt protected and secure within Henry’s arms. Whenever she is with him, it feels like everything is perfect, that no harm will come their way.
*cough* *cough*
"Erhm... It seems that my timing is the worst. It’s nice to be young... poor old me."
The two immediately stop their snogging upon hearing the man’s voice.
"It’s good to see you too, Mr. Wilson," Henry released her from his arms and walked to Mr. Wilson. He hugged him meekly and fondly.
As Amy watched the two, it was obvious to her how Henry adores the man who might be the same age as his father.
Mr. Wilson is not as tall as Henry but his body looks athletic and it’s making him look young. You will only notice his age because of the few wrinkles on his face when he smiles and his gray hair.
"So who is this lovely lady that you are bussing earlier?" Mr. Wilson asked and the way he asked his question made Amy flush with embarrassment.
The men noticed how her face went red and chuckled, "You are embarrassing the love of my life Mr. Wilson, this is Amy."
"Nice to mee... woah," Amy extended her hand but Mr. Wilson has a different plan in mind. He pulled Amy to hug her very tight and lift her up causing her feet to hang in the air for a short while.
"Hey old man, stop harassing my girlfriend," Henry said in a jest.
"Tsk... tsk... don’t be jealous, I’m just happy that you finally brought a woman here. I thought I’ll never get to see it till I die," Mr. Wilson frivolously said.
"Now, now take a seat and let me serve you some wine, your food will be here soon," the two followed and Mr. Wilson served them a 1969 Zinfandel.
Mr. Wilson took a seat and had a chat with them. He was telling stories about how he met Henry and his college days. Amy enjoyed it, it’s not often that she gets to talk to someone who knows Henry before he became the famous billionaire.
The Wilson couple has never thought of expanding their business until they met Henry. Being an heir of Welsh Holdings gave him enough access to business deals even if he was still in college.
He kept on convincing the couple to take the investment offer from his company after seeing the potential of it. For years the couple firmly refused his offer until Mrs. Wilson got sick and Mr. Wilson tried to sell to Henry his property.
Henry refused it and instead, push for the investment proposal to happen. The couple accepted Making him the 70% shareholder of the restaurant.
The waiters arrived with their food after some time and Mr. Wilson bid goodbye to Henry and Amy. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"He seems nice," Amy commented after everyone left the room.
"He is... he is family for me. I was alone in this country when I was studying. I have Martha but back then she was always busy with the mansion staff. It was Mr. and Mrs. Wilson that I always talk to.
They are like parents to me. Their son has a ranch and winery now and he supplies the meat and wine here. Even though they have money now, Mr. Wilson still wants to cook here. He said it makes him young," Henry smiled as he slice the tender meat on his plate as he recall the good old times he spent with the Wilsons.
Henry was trained at a young age to become a businessman, but he was a spoiled brat back then. People didn’t think that he would become a great one someday. Contrary to what people thought of him, he was very attentive to every detail around him.
He liked to observe things and study them in his own ways. Even though there was a time that he suffered from his condition, this trait of his did not change. The incident that changed his life made him become more vigilant of his surroundings.
He does not easily trust other people and became skilled in determining people’s intentions. What happened to his family, made him thirsty for power and money. He wanted to avenge his father’s death and to do that he needs both.
He studied how his father’s company works not just by the book but in experience as well. He has good eyes for things and took every opportunity that crosses his path. The company flourished tenfold under his leadership making it the sought-after investment company not only in his country but also around the world.
He met many friends and foes as he move up the ladder and there were times when he needs to get his hands dirty. But for him, the good things that he did outweighs all the bad, the important thing is that he never hurt those people who don’t deserve his wrath.
Many small businesses and start-ups grew because of him and in line with that, many companies went down as well after going against him. He is not the kind of person that would sit around while being harassed and bullied by others. He fights back and he always makes sure that he wins.
At a young age, he learned that life is not fair the hard way, and because of that, he has a soft heart for those people who had a similar experience to him. Just like how he treated the Wilsons.
Many people had offered money to them to buy their plot of land on top of the hill but they never sold it even though they needed the money. When Mrs. Wilson got sick, those people who wanted the land took that opportunity but it is only Henry whom they trust.
Henry’s enemies are oblivious to this fact, they only see him as an opportunist that always wanted to make a profit from everything he gets his interest in. Henry has a bad reputation in public due to his experience with women and his hobby of bankrupting an opposing company but he doesn’t care.
There are people like the Wilsons who know the real him and are loyal to him no matter what. That’s the only important thing for Henry the others do not matter at all, and he promised himself to protect those people with everything that he has.
