Chapter 59: Rooftop (1)

After an hour, Jayson was finally out of the operating room. Everyone wanted to say hello to their dear boy but to their dismay, Jayson was still under the influence of anesthesia and was still sleeping while being transferred to the recovery room.

"Jayson will not wake up yet, the dose administered to him is quite strong but safe. He will be completely monitored in the recovery room and as soon as his body is free of anesthesia we can move him back to his room.

So for now you can all go home, rest, and recuperate. If my calculation is correct he will wake up before noon tomorrow," it was Jayson’s pediatrician who communicated with the family this time.

And as per the doctor’s recommendation, everyone decided to go home that night so they can rest and resupply whatever Jayson will need when he wakes up.

"Rei, take everyone home as soon as the driver arrives. I told Martha earlier to send another car, I’ll use the SUV with Tony," Henry instructed and Rei nodded and went back to Jayson’s room with the old couple and Jena.

"Where are we going?" Amy questioned and was a little bit worried at the same time, "You just donated your blood today, you can’t roam around, you must rest Henry."

Henry pulled her into his embrace and lightly chuckled at her, "I know love, we are just going to eat. I donated blood and you lack sleep so we need more iron. How does steak sound for dinner? I know a restaurant near here that serves mouth-watering steaks."

Amy pursed her lips and think for a few seconds before she agreed to his suggestion. She thought dinner will do no harm plus she is starting to feel hungry now that Jayson is out of the woods, so her appetite is back.

The two arrived at a nearby steak house that was famous in the city, Amy was surprised that there was a long line outside the restaurant. "I don’t think we can get in, let’s just eat here some other time."

Henry pulled her hand almost dragging her inside, "What are you talking about? I am craving for some steak. I need to replenish what I lost today or else I won’t be able to get back to our bed activities soon enough."

"What!?" that made Amy frown with a raised brow; this man is thinking about ’that’ even though both of them are hungry and tired, she thought.

Henry went straight to the restaurant receptionist while tugging Amy along with him. To her surprise, the guard let them in without going through the long queue.

"Good evening Mr. Welsh, it’s nice to see you again," the receptionist greeted them and of course, Amy remembered that this man with her is the rich and famous Henry Welsh. Why would she need to fall in line if she’s with him?

"You too. Looks like business is doing well huh?" Henry answered back to the receptionist as they go further into the restaurant. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"You are correct, I presume table for two?" the receptionist asked as she move towards the part of the restaurant that looks like leading to private rooms.

"Yes with my favorite view," the receptionist nodded and Henry looked at her with a smile on his face and he looks excited. They were led to an elevator and the receptionist pressed the number 4 button.

"There are 4 floors in this restaurant?" Amy can’t believe how big the restaurant is. When they were outside she thought that it was a rental building where the restaurant was occupying the ground floor but she was wrong.

"The fourth floor is actually the rooftop. It has the best view among all the other private rooms and it is in alfresco which made it better," Amy can’t help but be amazed as the receptionist explained to her.

Her astonishment intensified as soon as the elevator door opened. They were welcomed with warm fairy lights hanging on the beams of the clear glass roof of the rooftop. Live plant hedges line up the walkway which gives privacy to each division that serves as a dining room.

The receptionist walks further and opened the door of the last room. The door looks like reclaimed wood converted into a barn door, which was a perfect theme for a steak house. When they were led inside her jaw dropped at what she saw.

Three walls are made of glass but were surrounded by live plants and serve as a privacy wall in between the rooms. One part of the room has a wall-to-ceiling accordion glass door leading to a balcony.

"You can eat here inside, I will turn on the air conditioning or you can eat on the balcony I’ll leave the doors open and you can enjoy the evening breeze. Which do you prefer?" Asked the receptionist.

"I think the weather is good for alfresco dining, what do you think love?" Henry pulled her waist to get her attention after seeing that she looks like she was lost in amazement with the place.

"Yup I agree, the balcony would be good, it is perfect actually," she confirmed.

The receptionist then opened the accordion door and 2 waiters came in with wine and menu in their hands.

"Oh, there’s complimentary wine too?" Amy mused as she accepted the wine glass from the waiter.

"This is Mr. Welsh’s favorite wine. We always serve this to him when he visits here," the waiter replied.

Amy turns to Henry who was talking to the receptionist about the menu while the other waiter was putting the dinner wares on their table, "You seem to be a regular here."

Henry looked at her and smiled, "I own this restaurant love," he casually replied.

"Oh, wow," she was flabbergasted and she took a sip of the wine, not knowing what to say next. She just didn’t realize until now how vast his fortune is or perhaps she still has no idea how rich Henry really is.

"Well I own 70% of it, 30% is still with the original owner. Later you might meet him. He is the chef here, an amazing chef, one of the best I’ve ever met," Henry explained and Amy listened curiously before the receptionist took the menu.

"Shall I tell Mr. Wilson then that you are here sir?" the receptionist asked after hearing their conversation, and Henry nodded. He wanted to introduce Amy to everyone that he knows if possible. He wanted the world to know how proud he is that Amy is his alone.

When the restaurant staff went out of the room Henry stood up and heaved Amy towards the railing of the balcony, "I will show you something."

"Wow, this is beautiful Henry, no wonder you bought this," her eyes move left and right as she took in the beauty of the city light in front of her.

Henry stayed on her back hugging her from behind, "It was not like this before though."

He kissed her on top of her head before continuing, "This was just a barbecue tent before on top of this hill. I always eat here when I was in college with my friends. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were great cooks and their prices were really affordable.

They live just below the hill in a small cottage with their son. Their family owns the lot for generations now and seeing the potential of the place I offered to invest which they gladly accepted. So from a barbecue tent, I decided to build a building with a rooftop to take advantage of the view. Do like it?" he asked as he place his chin on her shoulder.

"I love it. It feels like you’re on top of the world. Look at those lights in the city; they look like stars in the sky. But it must cost a lot to eat in a restaurant like this. How come there’s a long line outside?"

"The food here has different prices. It goes higher as you move up. If you will eat on the ground floor or outside, the working class would be able to afford it, even students can. But if you wanted fewer people to eat with, the second floor would be best.

For those who want privacy and exquisite meat, the third and rooftop are suitable. Customers who wanted to enjoy the view and privacy need to pay the premium. Mr. Wilson wanted it that way so he can cater to people from different walks of life. And I let him do whatever he wanted to do with his restaurant. I just provide the finances and the best advisors to him to make the restaurant flourish."

Amy was once again speechless; Henry now looked like a genius in her eyes. She wanted to know more about what going on inside that brain of his. She herself won’t be able to think of something like that.

She felt proud of him, even if he grew up without his parents; he was still able to manage to be a successful person in the end and did not stray from his parent’s dream and plans for him.
