CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 181: Clean Cut

Even though it was the weekend, Anton had called in the food concessionaires to fill in everybody’s stomachs just to keep them going since everyone seems to not have an appetite to eat.

Some of Amy and Henry’s employees even came in on a Sunday to volunteer if they can do something to help. Some were sent home and some were given tasks such as supporting the back-end team of the search and rescue units.

Sandra took Rei to one of the rooms that were converted into a pantry. Even though Rei followed Sandra, his mind is not with her at the moment. He absentmindedly sat in one of the chairs as he rest his elbows on the table and stare into nothingness.

"Rei..." Sandra sat beside him and held his hand.

"They are not dead, I know, I can feel it. But I just want to find them as soon as possible," Rei uttered while still looking in the distance.

"I know that, but you are forgetting to take care of yourself. I won’t bug you if you promise me that you will eat on time," Sandra pleaded while looking at Rei.

He finally look back at her and smiled, "You like me that much?"

"What?!" Sandra’s forehead creased. A while ago Rei was sad and spacing out, but now he seems to be back in his old self.

"You worry about me and I like it."

"You!"

Rei laughed at Sandra’s reaction and added, "And it is perfectly fine if you want to bother me every hour, every minute. I don’t mind, I actually love it when you bother me."

"Then you can count on that. Now let’s go and order. Come with me, I don’t know what you want to eat," Sandra pulled his hand but her words made Rei think of something different.

"You..."

Sandra halted and faced him, "What did you say? Have you thought of what do you want to eat for lunch?"

"You..."

Sandra’s eyes widened but quickly composed her reaction when she saw Rei smirking.

"I mean what about you, what do you want to eat?" Rei said while giving her a lecherous look that Sandra didn’t catch.

"I don’t know yet let’s–"

"Look who’s out of the nest," Mary butted in as she and Anton approached the two.

"Any news?" Rei asked Anton.

"Yes, we were actually looking for you. The air unit saw one of the parachutes floating in the sea. And they have confirmed that it belongs to the jet since it has a logo of Welsh Holdings," Anton stated as they all walk towards the food display counter.

"How about Amy and Henry?" Sandra somehow felt relieved to know that they were able to get out of the plane before it crashed somewhere.

"No sign of them, the gear was still attached to it so at least we have a clue that they were able to swim somewhere and did not drown," Mary replied.

Rei’s face lit up a bit, "I knew it. Henry will not die that easily."

"And so is Amy," Sandra said then she and Rei both laughed but then stopped when they saw Mary whose face is still serious.

"What is it?" Rei asked Anton.

"They found another gear floating near the first parachute, but..." Anton sighed and pursed his lips.

"But what? Just say it dammit!" Rei cursed he is not ready to hear any other news than that the two are safe and alive.

"The gear has a broken handle and the parachute was never deployed. The backup parachute was not loaded in the gear as well," Anton explained. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Sandra frowned and her chest tightened, "What do you mean broken?"

Mary placed her hand on Sandra’s shoulder after seeing her heave, "The paracord that triggers the deployment of the parachute was cut off. The cut seems intentional since it was a clean cut."

Sandra’s jaw dropped and was about to cry but Anton explained further, "According to the rescuers it could be that the two were able to swim away from there. Both of them are good swimmers, so let’s not lose hope yet."

Sandra blinked away her tears, telling herself that her cousin and Henry are okay.

The four were able to eat halfway peacefully until Maya came rushing through the door.

"The air unit found another floating fabric-like material in the nearby area. The coast guard is on their way to check it."

And just like that, the four left their food and rush over to the boardroom to watch the live footage from the search and rescue team.

Anton slammed the table as he cursed while Rei instructed his men to increase the security around Henry’s mansion, Bellory farm, and Amy’s family. Mary called up her parents to explain what is going to happen soon while Sandra talked to Alice and Robert on the phone.

Everyone was on heightened alert and Uncle Trev requested more manpower in searching for Henry and Amy.

"Uncle Trev, I think you should rest in Henry’s office, you haven’t got any rest since last night and we are worried that something bad might happen to you," Maya saw Trev take some pills earlier and she can only guess that it was either for calming his nerves or he is taking a maintenance medication.

"I am ok dear. Even if I stay there, I won’t be able to relax or sleep. I am going to make those bastards pay for attempting to kill my son and his wife."

"We will definitely make them pay Uncle. I will also increase the security around your home and daughters if you don’t mind. My team and Amy’s security team will join the search and rescue at dawn," Rei couldn’t just sit there and wait any longer after what the coastguard reported.

They confirmed the clean cut on the jet’s parachute cord that made the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System fail. He ordered the salvaging of the plane for further investigation. He and his team made sure that no one knows where the two were going but it seems like their security had some loopholes.

For him, no further investigation is needed. The clean cut on both paracords is already screaming murder, but due process is still needed if they want to file a case against the mastermind of it all.
