CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 182: Weak and Useless
The island where Amy and Henry at has a dense forest and a wide land area. After Henry went into it, he immediately noticed the change in temperature. The air is much cooler so he mentally noted to relocate Amy later.
He did not have to look further deep into the forest for he shortly found a stream similar to the mini island in the resort but much smaller. Just about three feet wide and a foot deep. Henry quickly ran towards the stream and used the banana chips wrapper that they kept to bring water to Amy.
Good thing the water is clear and looked clean, and even if it is not, he had no other choice but to use it given their situation. He slowly scoop the water and ran back to his wife as fast as he could.
When he reached Amy she was still unconscious, he gently touched his neck using the back of his hand to check her temperature. Henry sighed when he felt that she was still hot but not as warm as her temperature before he left. Perhaps wiping her body with the salt water helped, he thought.
"Amy... love... please wake up. I brought some water, you have to drink," Henry said as he gently tapped her shoulders.
"Mmm..." Henry’s eyes widened when Amy groaned. Not what Henry wanted but it is better than nothing.
"Amy, can you hear me? Please drink this," Henry repeated one more time.
Amy slowly flutters her eyes. Her vision was blurry at first, but the more she blinks the more she could clearly see Henry’s face which was very close to hers.
"Can you move a little? My head hurts and spinning," Amy weakly uttered. Her request made Henry delighted. He never knew that a simple thing like Amy waking up would bring him so much joy.
"Oh thank God! Sit... Let me help you drink this, love," Henry supported Amy’s back as she slowly sits up. The wrapper was small and Amy was so thirsty that she was able to finish it in one go.
"Do you have more?" she asked.
"Yes, a whole stream actually. Hold onto my neck," Henry picked her up and kiss her on the temple before walking.
Amy felt as if she was coming down with the flu. Her lower back is in pain and felt heavy. Her head throbs and her hunger is making her tummy ache.
She rested her head on Henry’s chest as she close her eyes. She listens to the chirping of the birds and the rustle of the leaves of the trees. It was so peaceful, just like the ambiance that she fancy.
If they are not stranded there, it would be a perfect place for her to have a vacation. Unfortunately, they are not there to rest, she is also in no condition to help Henry find food or build their shelter for the night.
Henry carried Amy to where he got the water from while he carefully looked around, scanning the area for things that they could use.
The next moment, Amy heard the sound of the babbling water flowing down the stream. She opened her eyes and was amazed at how beautiful the place is.
He made her sit on one of the smooth rocks beside the stream and carefully scooped water for her to drink. When she had enough, Henry helped her walk to a nearby tree and gave her one of their backpacks.
"Stay here. I will just get the things we left on the shore and I’ll try to find something to eat and start a fire with."
Amy just nodded, she sat and leaned back on the tree trunk. She felt so tired, a kind of exhaustion that she never felt before.
’It must be my body’s reaction when my adrenaline finally dropped,’ she thought. She looked back on what happened. It was the perfect honeymoon that she could only dream of until it turned into a nightmare. And now her body is so weak and useless, she couldn’t even help her husband look for food or firewood.
Amy felt drowsy after sitting for quite some time, so she decided to lie on the ground and get some sleep. She needs her strength back if she wants to become useful and help Henry find a way to get out of there and go home.
When Henry returned, she saw Amy sleeping soundly as she use the backpack as her pillow. Henry touched her forehead to check her temperature once more. The corner of his lips curves up for Amy’s temperature is back to normal.
’I guess she was just dehydrated,’ he said to himself. He placed the floaters and the bananas that he found beside her to let her know that he came back while she was asleep.
He didn’t want to wake her up or waste time. It was still morning but he knows that as early as now, he must gather some firewood and build a shelter to protect themselves from the weather and if there are some wild animals on the island.
He left Amy once again and roamed around the nearby area. He picked up every dry stick, branch, and leaf that could be used to set up a campfire and tied them together using some vines and coconut leaves. He also plucked some ripe fruits along the way.
When he was young he dreamt of having adventures like this. He imagined himself getting lost in the wilderness and trying to survive on his own. And now that he is actually experiencing it, he scolded himself for wishing it before as a young boy.
Just like what they say, be careful what you wish for, right?
Surprisingly, the island was fertile enough to bear a lot of fruit trees. He is sure that perhaps some of the plants there can be eaten, but then again he is no expert when it comes to cooking. He doesn’t want to get food poisoning again just like what happened when Amy put some poisonous flowers on his food when they were young.
Amy is already not doing well and the last thing that they need is for him to get sick. He must stay strong for her, for them. And once she gets better, he will surely find a way for them to get back home.
