Chapter 123: One Big Responsibility

"You might be the cure for Henry."

Uncle Trev’s words rang in Amy’s head, to the point that she felt dizzy. She understands what he means but she just cannot believe it. If it is true, that is one big responsibility, she thought.

"W-What do you mean Uncle Trev?" she bravely asked.

"Did you know why Henry has contract girlfriends?" Trev continued as they walk towards the back of the house.

"H-He said to escort him in events, to keep other women away, and... a-and..." Amy is too shy to say the word s*x to Uncle Trev since he is older but Trev already knows it.

"It is ok dear, I already know," when they reach the back patio they sat opposite each other before Trev continued.

"Before having contract girlfriends, Henry copes with his condition by beating people. His classmates, his bodyguards, strangers... but then when he started working at Welsh Holdings when he turned eighteen, he started paying women to stop himself from beating people around. He started bedding women in exchange.

He cannot go a day without doing the deed. He had too many pent-up emotions and urges that the only way to control them is by either of the two. Dr. Martin said it stopped when Henry started talking about you during their sessions."

"I-I still don’t understand. What does it have to do with me?" Amy asked in confusion with frowning eyebrows.

"Dr. Martin said that Henry felt lost when everyone that he loves died. Of course, he loves us but we are not his immediate family. Dr. Martin said that it could be that over the years, Henry was looking for someone to give his love to and be loved back.

I believe he had met you before as well, am I right?" And Amy nodded so he continued.

"You may not believe it or find it cringey but Dr. Martin and I believe that if love can destroy people’s sanity, just like what happened to Henry’s mom and many other people, then it can also be a cure, keeping a person sane," Trev said as he crosses his legs and leaned back to the chair.

Amy just stared at the old man, musing about what he said.

But Trev did not leave her in her own thoughts for long. He immediately stirred to the reason why he wanted to talk to her.

"I am aware that Henry is pulling all the strings that he can to help you with your financial problems. From your nephew to your business. He will do anything and everything for you Amy, because he loves you, and I can see that."

Amy stiffened at what Trev said and his tone changed from soft to firm. He now speaks like a commanding officer, showing his authority over her.

"As I said, he is a son to me and I will do everything to protect my son. Whether emotionally, physically, or mentally. So, I want to ask you what are your intentions toward Henry. Your contract is still in place and there are less than five months to go. Will you leave once your contract ends?"

Trev fired his questions like a machine gun. Amy was not able to butt in to answer, all she could do was listen and wait for him to finish.

"I do not have any plan to leave him," she answered.

"Then do you plan to marry him?"

"I-I... well... we haven’t talked about it."

"But he told you already his intention. I remembered him saying you haven’t agreed to his proposal. Am I right?"

"Y-Yes, well he hasn’t asked me properly."

"That brat!!!" Trev grunted as he slammed his palm on the armchair making Amy jerk from her seat.

"Oh! Sorry dear, I didn’t mean to startle you. I just can’t believe that he is throwing away this opportunity with you. What the hell is he waiting for? I’m gonna freaking kill that bastard," Trev exclaimed.

Amy stared at Trev blinking while having a surprised expression. The old man was so gentle a while ago, then suddenly became firm and authoritative. And now cursing Henry in front of her like a teenager.

Trev cursed more complaining about how slow Henry is with his love life and nagging about his time running out.

That made Amy relax again, seeing how Trev worry about Henry’s future like a real father would do. She giggled and this caught Trev’s attention.

"What is so funny dear?" Trev asked with furrowed brows.

"You really love Henry like your own son. I can see and feel it. I wish my father is still alive, I am sure he will be like you," Amy said.

"I can be your father when you marry Henry. I will talk to that spoiled brat. He is not taking this seriously. He is running out of time, tsk..." Trev shook his head as he gave out a deep sigh.

And there it is again. People around Henry kept on saying he is running out of time and Amy cannot hold her curiosity much longer.

"Uncle Trev, if you don’t mind, why is he running out of time? Is Henry sick?" she asked with a worried face. She wants to know the answer and not at the same time if that makes sense.

What if he is? What will she do? She loves Henry too much, she can no longer picture her future without him in it.

But to her surprise, Trev laughed so hard that he coughed before stopping.

"Oh dear, I’ll die because of too much laughter. Are you trying to kill this old uncle of yours? That man is as strong as a bull. He is not sick."

The butler came and cleared his throat making both of them look at him.

"The lunch is ready, sir," the butler said.

"Let’s continue in the dining shall we?"

Amy nodded and stood up to follow the butler and Trev.

"The story that I am going to tell you is long so let’s replenish our energy first."

Amy wondered if she would still be able to go to the farm with how talkative Henry’s uncle is. It feels like he doesn’t want Amy to go. But she doesn’t mind at all as long as she would be able to get all the answers to her questions.
