CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 301: Rules of Conduct
The establishment where the Trial took place was an old mansion belonging to the Meridian Hotel.
They usually didn’t rent this place out for ordinary customers. However, it was still available for special events such as the Trial.
Other than the Selomo Family and the Luciente Family, other major crime families inside Aeliz City also showed up.
The Selomo had gambling as its exclusive business.
The Luciente had the alcohol smuggling business.
The other three major families were the Cavaliere, the Bellini, and Moretti.
The Cavaliere was usually referred to as the leader of the crime family. They were extremely secretive and had a lot of ties with many big Psychic organizations. Organizations like the Atlas Seven.
The Bellini was very big in the drug business. They were the main source of illegal power pills on the street. Power pills similar to the HAS pills that Leslie manufactured.
The Moretti was into ’construction’. Their main business revolves around transporting all kinds of goods. What those goods might be, no one knew.
The Cavaliere and the other two families had already arrived. They sat around the arena and waited patiently for the Luciente and the Selomo.
The old mansion had a wide plaza at the back where an elevated stone ground was built. The mafia usually used this place as an arena for the conflict. The Meridian Hotel was always happy to rent it out.
Mater’s group and the two families entered the courtyard.
The three families noticed them immediately. As usual, the girls were the ones that attracted the most attention out of everyone. However, no one said anything this time.
Not a lot of people could be as stupid as that Selomo member that was killed and made an enemy out of nowhere.
Tommy and Adrian went over to see the Cavaliere. They bowed their heads slightly at the boss of the Cavaliere.
"Don Elio." They said in unison.
Elio nodded. The boss of the Cavaliere was an old man with extreme wrinkles on his face. He wore round sunglasses and a scarf around his neck.
"Why don’t you introduce us to your champions?" Elio said.
The Selomo did it first. Adrian led a huge man onto the arena.
The man was thrice as big as a normal adult. He must be at least 2.5 meters and his muscle was so large that his shorts felt like they could burst at any moment.
The man breathed heavily. Each breath sent out a white cloud into the air. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"This is Alphonso. He is the Selomo’s champion." Adrian said.
Mater scanned the little Alphonso. The black cat smirked as he found out the trick the Selomo was doing.
"They aren’t playing fair, Crow. That thing is on the verge of becoming a Rank-2. A simple push and he would advance." The black cat meowed.
’Do I need to be wary, Master?’ Crow answered telepathically.
’No. A few of them maybe. But if one, you can handle him. I grant you the permission to do anything you can to win.’ The black cat answered telepathically.
’Loud and clear, Master.’
"And the Luciente?" Don Elio turned toward Tommy.
Tommy led Crow onto the arena. "This is the Luciente’s champion. His name is Crow."
"Why is he wearing a skin-tight suit?" Don Elio said. "Would that hinder his fighting ability?"
"Don’t worry. He can fight just fine." Tommy said.
"Very well." Don Elio said.
Sparrow looked around and saw that the crime family did not prepare open seats for his group at all. They really did bring too many people.
’I can’t let my Master and his Queen be embarrassed!’
Sparrow raised his hand and immediately, stones emerged from the ground. New stone seats formed around the arena, an area only for Mater and his servants.
Selina and the girls sat on the new stone seats.
Don Elio leaned over to his men and whispered, "Who are these people that came with Tommy?"
"I don’t know, Don Elio. But they do seem quite influential with all those Psychics."
"Hmmm..." Don Elio squinted his eyes.
Even for his old age, he had to admit that the girls on that side were quite special. But what surprised him was how young they were.
They all had a baby face and yet one of them was already a Hazard. And that kid in a red suit, he didn’t look even 10 years old.
"And yet, he is a Hazard. Find out as much as you can about them. They might be a new player in Aeliz." Don Elio whispered to his men.
"Yes, Don Elio."
The Meridian Hotel assigned a Psychic to be the referee. It was someone that Mater met before.
The black cat turned toward Aurora.
"Didn’t think to meet him here." Mater meowed.
Aurora nodded.
Dust Castellanos. A Psychic that once had a brief relationship with Aurora’s previous life, Alice Rosenberg. A relationship was a stretch. They almost had a thing. But she died before anything could happen.
Dust noticed Aurora but he didn’t say anything. He was, however, surprised to see that she was already a Hazard.
’She really is lucky.’ Dust thought.
The man stood in the middle of the arena, in between Alphonso and Crow. He took out a scroll of paper and began reading.
"Gentlemen, we are here to settle a conflict under the sacred ways. Your families have invoked the Trial of Combat, and the Syndicate has seen fit to grant it.
We shall follow the usual rules of conduct for this Trial of Combat.
Ground Absolution: There is no border for your arena. No outside interference is permitted. And no participant shall receive help from any other sources.
Freedom of Weapons: You may use anything and everything available in this Trial. However, any weapons that grant you power over the Rank of Menace is prohibited.
The Rule of Engage: You do not engage until the signal is given. To strike before the signal is an act of cowardice and result in immediate loss.
The Rule of Disqualification: Should a participant flee the grounds or use Hazard and above power, their family is considered lost in this Trial.
The Rule of Victory: Once the engagement begins, it continues until there is a winner. The winner shall be decided when the opponent is dead, forfeited, or incapacitated beyond further combat.
The Rule of Draw: Should the Trial have no victor, the conflict shall be decided by the Don and no appeal is permitted."
