Chapter 295: Chapter 295: The Meridian Hotel

Jax drove into the entrance of a luxurious hotel. Ash sat on the back seat. Her eyes widened when she saw the large neon sign at the front.

"The Meridian Hotel? This place is very expensive..." Ash mumbled.

"The most expensive hotel in all of Aeliz City as a matter of fact." Jax smiled. "But the reason why it is expensive might not be what you think."

"Why is it so expensive?" Ash said.

Jax stopped in front of door and smiled. His smile was sarcastic with a hint of madness within.

"Because no one mess with the Meridian Hotel."

Jax opened the door for Ash and helped her inside. Ash understood what Jax was referring to immediately. There were guards everywhere every few steps inside the hallway.

Each man stood still like a statue and each was packing. They wore their gun like a badge of honor and let it be shown clearly. It was both an act of intimidation and reassurance. So that the customers would know they were protected and their enemies think twice before doing anything.

"I don’t think I have enough money for this place, Jax... I can just stay at a motel." Ash said.

"You don’t need to worry now. As I said, you are connected. My employer already arranged the room for you. You just need to stay. Come."

Jax and Ash arrived in front of the reception desk.

"How may I help you, sir?" The receptionist was a tall dark man with a mischievous smile on him.

"How have you been, Damian?"

"Very well, sir."

"I have a room for Ash Crawford. Full package." Jax said.

"Ash Crawford... Ah, yes! Her name is here. The room is ready for her. Here is the key."

Damian placed a golden key on the table.

"Follow me, love. Let me show you your room." Jax said.

"Ah, okay."

They went into the elevator and disappeared. Once they were gone, Damian took out a radio.

"We have a VIP on the 11th floor. Make sure our customer is well accommodated."

"Affirmative."

Jax and Ash stopped in front of a room. The keyhole was a deep hole with the size of a thumb.

"Is that keyhole broken?" Ash said.

"Not broken, love. It’s their design." Jax showed Ash’s the golden key he picked up. It looked like a cartoonish key with no teeth or ridges at all. But as soon as Jax pressed on the jewel at the top of the key, several teeth shot out on its smooth surface.

"The Meridian Hotel gains its reputation not just because of those security guards. But because its out of box thinking. Many hotel offers secured accommodation just like them but they aren’t that successful. Why? They used technology. And it doesn’t matter how strong that technology is, it could be hacked."

Jax slotted the key into the hollow circle and turned, "Now. Since everyone has been running after internet and computer technology, not a lot of folks trained in lock picking anymore. There are still some out there but very few people reach the level to break a lock like this."

Jax pulled the door open. "That is one of the reason why the Meridian Hotel is what it is today. It is one of the safest place you can be right now and your friend has made sure that you will stay in it.

So I suggest you stay here until everything calms down, love. Your friend should be here soon."

Ash nodded.

"I’ll be in the lobby if you need me." Jax waved at the girl and closed the door.

Ash scratched her head. Everything happened a little too quickly for her. It felt like a dream. One moment she was still just an ordinary woman. Now she almost felt like she ran into some kind of secret society.

The woman observed the room she stayed in. Everything shined like they were made of gold. The big window reached to the top and bottom, revealing a breath-taking scene of the city below.

Ash sat on her bed, "Who are you actually, Selina?"

She took out a wooden finger inside her purse. At first, she thought that Leonard didn’t want to move on. But she knew there was something more. A secret that shouldn’t be told.

Jax was playing some game with his phone when he heard a noise from the entrance. He turned over to see a group entered.

A young woman with dark hair. Another with white hair. A kid with a red mask. And two distinguished gentlemen.

"Is that..." One of Jax’s men said.

"That’s probably the friend. Be polite, boys. Don’t glance. Don’t say anything unless they’re asked you to. Don’t give them any reason to be mad, alright?" Jax said.

His men nodded.

They approached Mater’s group.

"So you must be Jax?" Selina said.

"That’s right. Your friend Ash is in room 1107." Jax said.

"Your payment." Selina raised her finger gracefully.

Crow stepped up and gave Jax a silver suitcase.

"Untraceable mobile credits." Selina said.

"Happy to do business with you, Miss Isles. Call us whenever you need." Jax grabbed the suitcase.

"I will." Selina said.

Damian the Receptionist watched everything with great interest. He was very familiar with all the organizations inside Aeliz City. From the Mafia Families to Private Corporations, to other type of organization.

"At least this new organization has a great taste in fashion." Damian mumbled to himself. He thought that Selina’s group would likely be a crime family more than a private corporation. He didn’t think that they were related to the government at all.

Ash took a shower. For the first time since years, she felt at ease and safe. Even the bathroom inside this hotel looked like a place of queens and kings.

Suddenly there was a ring on the door and a noise echoed.

"It’s me, Selina."

Ash finished quickly and took on a bathrobe. The door of this hotel was 10 inch of solid steel with its own doorbell and camera. She could see the goth girl with her usual clothes in front of the door.

"Hah. She wore the same thing when I saw her." Ash mumbled to herself.

The woman put the key into the hollow circle and turned. Suddenly, the door blasted open and a shadow jumped at Ash. It pushed her on the ground.

It wasn’t Selina. Her appearance changed and revealed a skinny man wearing a masked cloth on his face.

"You’re a hard woman to find, Ash Crawford."

The man drove a dagger down to her throat.
