CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 291: V.O.I.D.
"Sneaky boy..." Solarix was behind the man. She grabbed his throat and crushed it. Blood flooded out and the man fell to the ground. "Hmm? Just a human."
Other ambushers rushed out from their hiding spots and they were quickly subdued by the servants.
"Keep a few of them alive. We might need to question them later." Crow said. He punched the man beneath so hard, his teeth shot out.
"Roger that, Crow." Sparrow hit another ambusher with his lute.
The servants refrained from using supernatural powers in broad daylight and only used their physical strength.
Inside the house.
Mater floated in the air right behind Bash. Selina was beside him.
The house was in a devastating state. Everything was broken apart and wood chips were everywhere.
"What happened?" Selina said. Her eyes flashed red as she used her Chaos Eyes to scan the place. There wasn’t any Chaos around.
"Whatever it was. It wasn’t supernatural." Mater placed his paw on a bullet hole on the wall. "This place was attacked by humans."
Bash walked around the house and tried to check for any enemies. But there wasn’t anyone at all. Only a ruined scene of a fight.
"Empty house, Master." Bash said.
Mater nodded. "This is a bit difficult. If it wasn’t a supernatural being, it would be hard for me to find Ash."
’Have you got them all outside, Crow?" Mater communicated to Crow telepathically.
’There are twelve of them, Master. We keep three alive.’
’Good. Bring them inside and do your thing.’
’Yes, Master.’
The three survivors were dragged inside the house.
As much as the servants wanted to play things quietly. The brief fight outside had drawn the attention of the neighbors. They probably had called the police.
Crow and Sparrow each threw one man on the floor. The last one was held by Solarix. He tried to push her away to run but her sharp nails dug into his rib.
He groaned in pain and fell face first on the floor. He didn’t think a petite woman like her was so strong.
In front of them, Selina stood with her arms crossed.
"Who are you guys?" The goth girl said.
One of them spat at her. A faint barrier appeared in front of her and blocked the disgusting act. She had learned quite a few tricks in the Institute.
"I see. What I love most is break men like you." Selina smiled sinisterly, "Bring them away, Crow."
Crow grabbed two of them at the legs and pulled them away to interrogate.
"Fuck you, you bitch!" A man screamed, "You’re dead, you understand that? You’re dead!"
"We ain’t tell you anything, freaks!" The other also shouted.
Solarix bowed at Selina, "May I interrogate the third one, Your Majesty?"
The goth girl raised an eyebrow. ’What now? A new nickname?’
Selina hated nicknames but she couldn’t get mad at Mater’s servants.
She nodded.
Solarix smiled. She sat on the belly of the third man.
"What? Are you going to seduce me with your body or something?" The third man smirked.
"Seduce? I just want you to get the best seat for the show."
Solarix smiled wider and wider. Her appearance changed. Her horns appeared. The tattoo on her back came to life.
She wore a backless black dress that allowed her to summon her wings at any time.
Her face changed. The demon came out of her and the red lines of a revenant appeared. Her teeth were as sharp as sharks and her eyes glowed orange.
Then her face contorted even more, changing into something horrified to look at. The man’s life force was sucked out of him.
"Demon..." He gasped at Solarix’s two demonic wings towered over him.
His years went by. From a man in his thirties and slowly turned into an old wretched piece of wood with skins fractured like dried lake.
Solarix leaned closer to him.
"Poor lost soul..."
"No..." He gasped. "Kill me... Kill me..."
Solarix caressed the hard surface of his chin. His skin cracked away like old paint.
"Death is a blessing. And you won’t have it."
Solarix stretched his mouth open and pulled out a tooth. The man could only moan in suffering.
His body was weak. Every pain dialed up to a hundred. He cried silently. He just wanted to die and to not be in this constant pain.
He was in pain because Death was eating in every fiber of his body.
Solarix caressed his cheek with the tenderness of a lover.
"I can give it back, you know. Your youthful body. All the pain would go away. We even let you go."
The man trembled even more. "Really?"
His will was broken. He would do anything to stop it. Being young again would be even better.
"Who are you? Why are you here?" Solarix’s voice sterned.
"I... I am a mercenary of the V.O.I.D. The Vanguard Offensive Infiltrations Dynamics. I am here to take a girl name Ash Crawford."
’VOID? Whoever named this is an idiot or a troublemaker.’ Mater thought.
"What for?" Selina said.
"I... I don’t know. We only do the task. We don’t ask the reason."
Solarix turned toward Selina. She was asking for her decision.
"Just kill him." Selina said.
"No! You said... You let me go." The man convulsed in fear.
"I lied." Solarix placed a hand on his fire and crushed his brittle head.
"Damn, girl! That is one way of interrogating." The black cat meowed loudly.
"Thank you for the compliments, Master." Solarix smiled.
When she stood up, the man’s body turned to ash.
Crow also returned, "The other two also said the same thing. Their goal is to kidnap Ms. Crawford."
"What did she do this time?" Selina rubbed her temple. "Obviously they didn’t catch her. How are we going to find her?"
The black cat stroked his whiskers.
"In a time like this, a friend is what you need. We have just the right friend." The black cat meowed.
"Hmmm?"
The group disappeared before the police came. Selina wasn’t in the mood to make a report.
Tommy was sitting in his office, stamping certain approvals and checking the status of the upcoming Trial of Combat.
"Everything seems to be going well. With Crow, the win is secured. Their HAS pill is also great. It could elevate the power of the entire family."
A man knocked at the door, "Crow came to see you, Tommy."
