CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 281: Las Khan
Crow wasn’t impressed. He still crossed his arms and tapped his feet impatiently.
"Grrgh!" Linda growled. She jumped up and slammed the war hammer down at the leopard.
’What kind of attack is this? So full of holes.’
Mater made his body lighter through Omnimotion. With that effect, he was also faster. He evaded the attack.
The war hammer slammed on the floor and created a giant hole in it.
Mater clawed at Linda. Then he dashed away in a blur.
John raised an eyebrow, "That ability. Did it just become faster?"
"Isn’t it a speedster type of ability?" Tony commented.
"Probably," Ray nodded.
Mater clawed at Linda again, plunging his claws into her flesh. She flung the hammer at Mater but could never catch him.
Mater went in, gave her a smack. Then went out, evading the counter attack, and went in again to smack her.
He kept doing the same pattern of attack and got quicker and quicker.
Linda tried to oppose him and timed the correct counter. But she was simply too slow to make any of it effective.
"Of all the power in the world, speed reigns supreme." Crow typed in his device, "You should have known from the beginning... That you have no chance of winning." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
"Shut up!" Linda grunted.
Mater had hurt her quite badly. She’s bleeding all over her body.
The leopard jumped back and gave the stage back to Crow.
’Finish her, my servant. Show her what a true fighter means.’
’My pleasure, Master.’
"Let me show you the difference in our power." The mechanical voice echoed.
Crow took out too black karambits from his back. Karambits were curved knives with the specialty in slashing.
He approached Linda head on.
She smirked, "I’ll show you, arrogant bastard!"
She slammed her hammet at him.
The hammer was stopped in mid-air. Stop by two small curved knives that should have broken a long time ago. Crow was also using Enhancement Augmentation. He learned that from the Atlas Database himself.
Crow did that so that he could teach Selina later. The abilities he learned were usable for any Chaos User. It was different from Empath Crystalization, where a Psycho Force was required.
"You? How did you know how to use that?"
Crow kicked her abdomen and sent her backwards.
He didn’t answer. There was no time to fidget with the device in battle. He disappeared from his location, using Abyssal Dash to get close to Linda.
Crow executed a three-combo strike.
The first strike cut her wrist.
The second strike slapped the hammer away.
The third strike stopped millimeters away from her neck.
Linda dropped to her knees as Crow slightly pressed the karambit into her neck, bleeding her out.
"Stop!" John flew over. "That’s enough! She learned her lesson."
Crow relaxed and put his knives away.
John smirked, "Any objections now, Berserker?"
"I... Argh!" Linda screamed and slammed the floor.
"From today on, you are stripped of your position, Berserker. Assassin will be the new co-captain of the Atlas Seven." John said.
Crow typed something in his device.
The mechanical voice was sound again, "You are powerful. You have the strength to become great."
Tony leaned over to Ray and whispered, "What is he doing?"
Ray shrugged.
Zachary smiled, "I think the man is teaching her something."
The voice continued, "But you have no experience of real combat. You don’t think. You don’t have muscle memory. You have no strategy or knowledge. A weak man might be intimidated by you.
But for a real warrior, you’re a joke."
Linda lifted her head up and glanced at him. Her eyes were full of rage.
"I think that’s enough, Assassin." John said.
But Crow continued typing, "Try to disable all your powers and learn to fight for real. You will understand why you do not deserve your title, Berserker."
"Shi-i-i-i-i-i-t!" Ray gasped. "The man is really going all out."
"Never see him say that much. Well, actually, never see him saying anything at all." Zachary frowned.
Crow turned and left with Mater. The two of them went to the landing pad and got on the aircraft.
They went to their next mission, where Mater was going to extract more souls to rebuild Bash.
In the arena, Linda stood on the ground, staring blindly at the wall.
The light was off and everyone left already.
Haley came and sat down beside her.
"What do you want, Magician?" Linda said.
"John isn’t here. You can just call me by my real name." Haley said.
"What do you want, Haley?"
"Assassin is terrifying, yeah?" Haley said.
Linda nodded.
"I think he is going to become a Hazard soon." Haley said.
"With the GOD Suspension?" Linda said. "That thing isn’t stable, you know that."
"Right. But we can advance to Hazard the ordinary way, right? Just like other Psychics."
"We haven’t had any members advancing to Hazard for a few decades, Haley. Most that tried had died."
"Maybe. But we’re the Atlas Seven. We once even had a Diaster Psychic."
"You meant God Soldier?"
Haley nodded.
Linda chuckled, "I don’t even know what they fed him back then. How did he manage to get to Diaster with that Suspension in him."
"We’re relying too much on our power, Linda. Maybe Assassin is right? Maybe we need to learn actual combat like he said."
"You can’t be serious? We’re Psychics! We don’t need human fighting style!"
"Then why did you lose?"
Linda stayed silent.
Crow and Mater arrived at Las Khan. It was a state in the North of the Union. The place was covered in snow year round and much colder than any other places.
"Do you want some extra equipment, Mr. Assassin? Your uniform might be too thin." A soldier said. He had a full winter cloak on him.
"There is no need. Just tell me where the terrorists are." The device replied.
"Our interceptor had pointed to a settlement to the west of Ship’s Landing. It is classified as a squatter region. Many criminals came there and even illegal immigrants."
"The government did nothing about this?" Crow typed in the device.
The soldier shrugged, "They’re people from across the Northern border. The place is in ruins and NCEs roam there. We can’t accept them but we can’t chase them away either. So as long as they didn’t cause any trouble, we would leave them be. But that allows for many dangerous individuals to take control of the settlement."
"Roger that. I’ll take care of it." Crow typed in the device.
He jumped off the aircraft. The leopard followed him right behind.
"Did he get a parachute?" A soldier said.
The other soldier shook his head.
