Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Reunited

The Fake Aurora was holding a candle similar to the man from before. Selina plunged Chaos Tentacles down to the ground. They shot back up and wrapped around the Fake Aurora.

The Fake Aurora disappeared without trace. The candle dropped to the ground.

"Huh?" Selina frowned.

Suddenly, she felt a sudden sinking in her heart. Without hesitation, Selina activated the tattoo on her chest. A golden barrier appeared around her.

Behind Selina, the Fake Aurora was crawling on the wall. It jumped to her but was repelled away by the golden barrier.

Selina turned back.

"Devious wraith. You really have a lot of tricks." The goth girl dashed at the wraith. Her fists glowed red intensely.

The black cat looked around the space. Everything turned back to its usual size. They were in some sort of a warehouse.

"The candle protects us whenever the room changes. If you didn’t have the candle, you could go completely insane." Mandy said.

"Interesting. Is the candle the only thing that could protect us?" Crow said.

"Nope. There are a few safe rooms that do the same thing." Mandy said.

"Can you still feel Selina?" The black cat’s deep voice echoed.

Mandy nodded, "Please follow me."

With the space constricted to the normal size, the place became much more crowded than before. Mater spotted many Psychics on their way finding Selina.

Mandy’s friends also saw them but they didn’t dare to approach. Mater’s group was just too unique. They had a certain aura that made people stay away.

Crow with his fedora and trench coat looked as serious as ever.

Aurora looked like a painting with her white hair and glowing tattoo. Psychics couldn’t help but sneak a few glances when she walked past.

"She should be around here..." Mandy said.

They found Selina. Around her were quite a few Psychics.

"Punch that ghost, Big Sister!"

"Crush its skull!"

"You can do it, Big Sister!"

Crow pushed the crowd away and led the group past.

Selina was pinning a disguised wraith on the floor and punched it mercilessly. Each of her punches created a small shockwave in the surrounding area.

"Damn, girl! You’re so violent!" The black cat snickered.

Selina froze mid punch and looked up.

"Mr. Mater!" She perked up immediately and smiled brightly.

The goth girl stood up and crushed the head of the wraith into pieces. Mater didn’t forget to suck all the Chaos from it. Still, it had only one Chaos Sphere. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"You’re good?" The black cat meowed.

"Hehe. I’m perfectly fine." Selina picked Mater up gently and held him in her hands.

"Well. Thank you, kid!" Crow said.

"I almost forgot." The black cat meowed. "Pay this peasant, Selina. She helped us find you."

"Oh? Okay. Give me your account code, girl." Selina said.

"It’s really alright, Big Sister. I... I can’t take it from you."

"What did you say?" Selina squinted her eyes.

"I... I’ll take it..." Mandy almost cried again. Big Sister was really as scary as the rumor.

Selina quickly scanned the girl’s account code on her phone.

"Is 500 credits alright?" Selina said.

Mandy gulped in shock. "It’s more than fine!"

Selina had gained quite a lot of credits lately. If it was her from before, 500 credits would be a lot. But since Mater told her to reward the kid, she would do it handsomely.

"There. It’s done."

"Take her contacts also, Selina. She has a very unique tracking ability. We might need her in the future." The black cat meowed.

"And your numbers and social media account?"

"Here, Big Sister!"

Mandy walked away with a big smile on her face. It was a little scary at first but Mater’s group was so generous to her.

"Go along now." Crow scanned the surrounding Psychics.

They quickly scattered away.

"Who’s that? He seems so strong!"

"Damn! That’s a cool coat! He looks more like an investigator than all of us."

"I also want a fedora."

"Have you found anything interesting, Selina?" The black cat meowed.

"Oh, right! I saw a few wraiths that were able to disguise themselves..."

Mater and Selina exchanged what they had encountered so far.

"Interesting... So the wraiths in this dimension could disguise themselves and also set up traps to lure people in. The candles seem to be spawned with them." The black cat stroked its whiskers. "Have you found the core yet?"

"What is a core?" Selina said.

"Right. You don’t know about that. This place seems to have gathered enough energy to create a pocket dimension.

A pocket dimension needs a core to stay active. When it breaks, the space would return to normal. The core is like the battery, making sure the dimension stays intact."

"Haven’t got a clue where it is." Selina shook her head.

"I see. Let’s keep going then. We’ll find it eventually."

The black cat spat out a lot of candles. "On my way here. I also met a few disguised wraiths."

"Hmm?" Selina picked one of them up. "These things look exactly alike."

Selina also took out her two candles. She tried to stick it together. "Why do I feel like there is something we’re missing?"

"Why don’t we light the candles up, my lady?" Crow said.

"We can certainly try that."

Selina ignited the candles with a lighter. Suddenly, all the flames reached out and formed a small fireball. All the candles were sucked inside and fused into one candle.

The candle holder transformed. It looked more high-quality with gold engraved on it. The candle also had lines of orange on it.

"Huh? They just fused..." The black cat grabbed the candle. "It is less fragile now and becomes more stable. But its energy is slowly burning away. It will disappear once there is no more Chaos."

"What does it do actually?" Aurora said, "Other than protecting us from the black waves from before."

"I don’t know yet. But I think we’ll figure it out soon. Take the candle, Selina." The black cat meowed.

Selina held the candle in her hand. With Mater, she really didn’t need to fight anymore. She was more than happy to be a little damsel for him to protect.

The group marched forward with Crow in the front and the rest in the back. He temporarily served as the front line.

"I came from the stitching room. There were giant burned corpses there." Selina said.

"They aren’t wraiths?" Mater said.

"I don’t know for sure. They didn’t react back when this place was bigger."

The group found their way to the stitching room with Selina’s guidance. The room had rows of sewing tables. There were no giant corpses there. However, Mater could sense something else being here.

"Ready your blade, Crow." The black cat meowed.

Crow raised his hands. Two curved swords appeared in each of his palms.
