CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 74: Under The Name Of Training
Aiden looked at Cassandra who was still focused on the wound.
He remembered what he had done a few moments back.
Aiden stood in front of the waterfall in a daze. He was not sure if the direction he was thinking was right.
’If the fifth Princess could not read my thoughts, it is natural that she would be afraid of me.’
’If what if she can read other’s thoughts.’
’Will Princess Cassandra come here to search for me?’
’Will she be worried?’
’Will the fifth Princess take care of me if she found me injured or will she scold me in anger?’
So many questions rotated in Duke Salvador’s mind. He was nearby when he saw Blazh talking with the fifth Princess in the window.
The words that were spoken and the words that were thought were all under his instructions. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Duke Salvador emerged in thoughts when he heard a noise coming towards him. Aiden smiled as he took a knife out and he held its blade within his palms.
A sharp sting came from the palm but soon the pain disappeared as blood started to drip. Aiden had no idea when his lips curled up as he increased the force digging the knife further in. Soon the wound deepened as he washed the knife first and he kept it inside like a hidden treasure.
’It’s like knowing the truth.’
Aiden thought as he heard the voice coming towards him.
"Ed .."
"Ed .."
Aiden took a breath of relief as he masked his face and bent down to wash his hand.
’It’s time now.’
--------
Duke Salvador thought back at what he had done as he looked at the fifth Princess, Princess Cassandra trying to ease the pain that he was not feeling.
Aiden was a soldier before he was the Duke, The blood and pain he had suffered through the years were more than the life he had spent luxuriously.
A small wound by a knife was irrelevant to him, but seeing someone caring for him, Aiden wanted to act a little.
The pain that was never there soon came back as he flipped. "AH .."
Cassandra was frightened as she saw Ed taking his hand away. She was sure that she might have hurt him without knowing it.
’I should be careful.’
Cassandra looked up into Ed’s eyes as she said in a soft tone, like telling a child something to make him understand. "It’s okay, it won’t hurt anymore."
Cassandra took the palm into her hand again as she continued her work. But Aiden smiled softly.
"Princess."
"Hmm.."
"I am fine now."
Cassandra nodded. "Yes, just let me apply the remaining medicine."
"Princess."
Cassandra nodded without replying to Ed. Her whole focus is on stopping the blood.
"Princess." Aiden snatched his hand away as he saw Princess Cassandra’s mouth go into an ’O’ in shock.
"Why is the Princess here?" Aiden asked, ignoring the expression on the fifth Princess’s face.
"That .." Cassandra was caught off guard. "That ... I just wanted to take a walk in the forest."
"With a medicinal bottle?" Aiden raised his eyebrows. "I feel the Princess knew that I was injured somehow."
The color from Cassandra’s face drained. "How could I know. I just took it with me just in case .."
"Just in case of what?" Aiden took a step forward as he asked.
The waterfall was creating a calm atmosphere in the surrounding area. The forest had a fragrance of wood making one’s heart relax subconsciously.
"Did Princess want to encounter a wild animal here and get injured?" Aiden’s voice was low as he approached the fifth Princess.
Cassandra and Aiden were near as Cassandra looked at Ed’s eyes. Even though only his eyes could be seen, Cassandra was mesmerized. The red glowed like ruby wanted Cassandra to extend her hands and touch them but she resisted.
Cassandra felt uncomfortable. And she knew why she was feeling so. The atmosphere was too silent for her liking. Cassandra swallowed.
The fifth Princess was not used to such a thing. She used to come in the forest but even then Amy would be with her, always appreciating the flowers and birds in her head. But now all that revolved in her mind was quietness.
’My mind is blank.’
Cassandra blinked as she asked subconsciously in a low tone. "What are you thinking?"
Aiden raised his lips. He could tell that the fifth Princess could not read his mind.
’What am I thinking?’
’I am thinking of making you mine.’
’You are a Princess who has hidden herself well.’
’You might not possess the elemental power but you sure can be dangerous in your own way.’
Even though Aiden thought so, he did not say any of it. Instead, he said seriously. "Nothing. We are trained to not think a lot. It distracts us."
Cassandra nodded as she understood where Ed was coming from. If in war, one is distracted won’t they suffer a lot?
’Yes, the focus is more important.’
’No wonder I could not hear anything from Ed nor from Duke Salvador.’
Aiden looked into Cassandra’s eyes as he took a step forward making Cassandra take a step back subconsciously. The distance was getting smaller and smaller.
"But why did the Princess ask?" Aiden’s eyes were filled with curiosity making Cassandra uncomfortable.
"I just asked randomly.." Before Cassandra could complete her words, Cassandra slipped due to the rocks covered in moss. Her body moved backward as she closed her eyes in fright.
Aiden’s eyes panicked as he held Cassandra’s hand in a rush. There were many rocks below the water that could hurt Cassandra. Even the thought of it brought fear to him.
Aiden pulled Cassandra as he took her into his hand. His heartbeat was faster as he rested one hand on her head. Aiden looked at the small existence in his arm as he asked breathlessly. "Are you okay?"
Cassandra who was about to feel the pain was soon pushed into the warmth. She could hear the strong beats coming from Ed making her face pink. It reminded her of being alive.
"The Princess sure knows that she would be in danger so she brought her emergency medicine." Aiden joked as he rubbed Cassandra’s hair.
The fifth Princess’s hair glowed white in the sun, even though they were blond. It was as if shouting soft snow that Aiden could not get enough of.
Cassandra pushed Ed away as she heard those words. Her hands pushed her hair behind her ears. She did not reply as she looked down as if nothing had happened.
"Where is your lady in waiting?" Aiden asked as his eyes roamed around.
"I told her to wait outside." Cassandra did not look at Ed as she turned around. Her mind was filled with the warmth she had just imagined.
"Why would the Princess do that?" Aiden walked behind Princess Cassandra as they left the waterfall. "Did you want to find me alone or .."
Cassandra stopped in her steps as she looked back at Ed, who stopped his steps as well.
Cassandra did not say anything but simply gave him a look and started moving again.
’What nonsense is Ed thinking?’
’Why would I go to see him?’
’I was afraid that he would be hurt by the Duke and sure he was.’
Cassandra stopped as she realized something. "Ed."
"Hmm .."
"How did you get hurt? Was it Duke Salvador?"
Aiden looked into Cassandra’s gaze as he saw the hate in them.
’Was I hurt by Duke Salvador?’
’Yes, I was. After all, I did hurt myself.’
’But should I tell this to the Princess?’
’No.’
Aiden shook his head. "No, we both were practicing so .."
"So the Duke attacked you and hurt your palm." Cassandra raised her eyebrows as her cornflower blue eyes looked at Ed.
Ed did not reply, making Cassandra sure that what she was thinking was in the right direction.
"Duke Salvador is cruel to his subordinates," Cassandra said under her breath, making Aiden’s eyes sharp.
He wanted to defend himself but now he was Ed. He knew no matter what he said, Princess Cassandra would always think that it was because of respect for the duke.
’I have to prove my worth.’
Aiden ignored the words as if the fifth Princess had not said it at all. He changed his words to distract the Princess’s mind from the topic.
"I should go now, Princess. The Vivere Kingdom’s crown Prince will be here soon."
Cassandra looked at Aiden as she paused for a few seconds before she nodded. "You will come by a .."
"At night." Aiden completed Cassandra’s words.
A smile played on his face. "Princess should go out with care. Don’t let wild animals attack you. I do not want the Princess to use the medicine on herself."
Cassandra giggled as she nodded. "I will be careful."
Cassandra walked out as she left Ed behind. ’I need to talk to Amy anyways.’
’I need to know what she had told Duke Salvador that he attacked Ed under the name of training.’
