CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 62: Foolish Thought
Cassandra looked at the man with a questionable gaze.
"Can you tell me something?" Cassandra asked as she swallowed. She was afraid to ask something out of her own curiosity, but Cassandra was bewitched.
She had only recently acquired a friend who did not talk much but listened to her. A lady’s heart is soft, Cassandra could not help herself but ask. "That ..."
Aiden looked at the fifth Princess with narrowed eyes.
’Why is she so nervous?’
’What does she want to ask me?’
’Is it something inappropriate?’
’Why is she shy?’
Aiden’s mind was running in all possible directions but he remained unmoved. He wanted to know how Princess Cassandra would react.
"Well ... What will happen if a Princess attacks a black eagle?" Cassandra blinked as her gaze focused on Ed.
Aiden laughed at her question as he smirked. "Why? Is the Princess trying to harm me?"
Aiden took a step forward making Cassandra nervous. She took a step back in a hurry as she shook her hands. "No, No ... How can I? I have no power .."
At Cassandra’s soft voice, Aiden’s steps stopped. He looked at the fifth princess trying to understand the reason behind her curiosity. "Then Why?"
"That .." Cassandra played with her fingers to reduce her nervousness. "I am just curious. Will you tell me?"
Cassandra blinked her eyes like an innocent deer trying to pass through a tiger-like it was not there. Aiden smiled at the thought as he nodded his head.
"Harming a black eagle is equivalent to declaring a war against Salvador Dukedom," Aiden said in a husky voice as he narrowed his eyes.
Cassandra nodded as she looked down at the floor. Her mind was filled with thoughts.
’If what Ed said is the truth then why would Princess Valeria do it?’
’Are the people mistaken?’
’Princess Valeria will never do such a thing or ..’
Cassandra looked up as she asked. "Will Duke Salvador forgive it if a powerful Princess does something like that?"
Aiden was quiet. He did not understand what Princess Cassandra was trying to say. A powerful Princess harming the black eagle with her conscious mind was a foolish thought.
"That would depend," Aiden replied truthfully. He could look upon the situation if it was a mistake but if someone deliberately tried to harm his army, Aiden would not keep silent.
"I hope he does .." Cassandra said in a murmur as she turned back.
Aiden was confused. Why would the Princess say such words?
’Does she know something?’ Aiden narrowed his eyes at Cassandra’s back.
’No this cannot happen. I have been here for a long time observing her. There was nothing out of the ordinary.’
Aiden could not come up with any reason as he took a step forward. "Princess .."
"Princess .." Aiden’s words were cut down as Amy came inside the room, running in fright.
She stood in front of Cassandra as she looked at the man behind her. Although Cassandra had explained and every Princess had gotten their own guard, Amy felt that the man assigned to Princess Cassandra was a little odd.
Amy had observed that even though she enters, he does not go away like the others. He stands there as if he is the owner of the place, which annoys Amy. But Princess Cassandra is fond of the man she had named Ed.
Amy was happy that the Princess had gotten someone she could talk with as a friend. She rolled her eyes as Amy focused on the Princess standing there.
"Close the door." Cassandra waved her hand.
Amy looked back and realized that the door was left open as she nodded in a hurry and moved to close it. As Amy turned she obsessed that Ed was standing in the corner of the room in the dark refusing to leave them alone yet again.
Amy shook her head as she focused on the information she had recently come upon. Amy moved towards the Princess as she whispered in her ears. "Princess a fire broke in Princess Valeria’s Palace."
Cassandra knew what was coming after it as she looked at Ed nervously. She nodded her head as Amy continued. "The rumor says that Princess Valeria asked a question to the black eagle assigned to her and he refused to answer so she attacked him."
Both Amy and Cassandra looked at Ed before looking at each other.
"Is he hurt?" Cassandra asked in a soft tone. Both of them tried to keep their voices down so Ed could not listen unaware that the man’s gaze had narrowed as he looked at Cassandra.
"No, I heard he fought back and even defeated Princess Valeria," Amy said in a whisper.
"He defeated Princess Valeria." Cassandra was silent as she held Amy’s hand. "Does that mean ..."
Amy nodded. "Princess Valeria is in a rage. After visiting the Empress Palace, her mood had deteriorated. Maybe she will summon the Princess today."
Cassandra’s eyes shoved at Amy’s words. Her hold on Amy tightened.
"Princess, maybe Princess Valeria will not summon you. After all, now you are engaged to Lord Bent .."
"Such things have never affected her." Cassandra’s words cut through Amy’s. "Last time she left me alone because she was sure I had nothing to do with Duke Salvador but now..." Cassandra looked into Amy’s eyes. "She wants to vent her anger. No one will be spared."
"Princess .." Amy held Cassandra’s hand as she looked into her eyes. "Shouldn’t we .." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Amy."Cassandra made Amy stop mid-sentence. "Just hope that she does not harm where the wounds will be visible. You go and rest. I know what to do."
Amy nodded. Her task was simple. Whenever Princess Valeria called other Princesses in her palace to vent her anger, the lady-in-waiting of the Princesses should prepare medicines. Because when the Princesses return to their chamber their bodies will not be the way they had left with.
[I want to help.]
Amy nodded at Cassandra’s words as she left the room with a heavy heart.
[Only if I was stronger.]
[I have to work hard.]
[At Least for the princess.]
As Amy left, Cassandra smiled at her thoughts. She knew Amy was her only hope in this palace.
’I hope to leave the palace soon.’
Cassandra turned around towards Ed only to find that the man was nowhere to be seen. ’When did he leave?’ Cassandra thought before getting back to work.
’I have to write as much as I can before I get summoned.’
’Who knows if I could write once I return.’
---------
Aiden walked into the dark forest behind Princess Cassandra’s palace. He could still see the lights in her room glowing.
"Blazh."
"Master." Blazh came out in a hurry as he bowed his head in front of Aiden. He knew now that something was brewing between Duke Salvador and Princess Cassandra. Whether it was a partnership or something else, it didn’t matter. Blazh knew that he had to take a special case of the fifth Princess.
’Duke Salvador has something in mind.’
’Otherwise, he would not have come to protect the fifth Princess personally.’
"What happened at the first Princesses Palace," Aiden asked with a deadly gaze.
"Princess asked her guard about your personal life. She wanted to know who you are interested in and ..."
Aiden’s lips curled up. "And he refused to answer?"
Blazh nodded. After all, disclosing personal information of their master was forbidden and the black eagle took their order seriously.
Aiden nodded. "Then."
"Princess Valeria called for the royal guards to kill him but they refused so .." Blazh looked at Aiden whose eyes were glowing dangerously. "She called the Empress’s guard."
"Who attacked first?" Aiden asked. His voice is dangerous enough to kill.
"It was Princess Valeria." Blazh answer. There was no point in dragging the explanation. He knew that Duke Salvador would never accept anything other than a straightforward answer.
Aiden laughed. "Arranged a meeting with the Emperor tonight. The Vivere Kingdom’s representative will come soon. I want to handle the situation before that."
Blazh swallowed Duke Salvador’s words. "The first Princess is writing an apology to explain what .."
"Does it affect my decision?" Aiden asked irritatedly. He could not believe that his subordinate refused to follow his order at the earliest.
"I will inform the Emperor," Blazh said as he bowed and disappeared in the shadows, leaving Duke Salvador alone in the dense dark woods.
Aiden turned around as he walked towards the window where he could see a small back of Princess Cassandra who had emerged in writing for him.
Looking at her hands running through the pages in a hurry as if there was no tomorrow brought a smile on his face before he realized why the fifth Princess was in a rush.
’She said the wounds should not be visible.’
’Why would she get wounds?’
Aiden’s eyes shifted towards the cuts on Cassandra’s hand and legs that were yet to recover. His eyes turned dark at the thought.
’Is she going to get hurt again?’
’They all know it.’
’Due to the first Princess?’
Aiden took a deep breath as he entered the room through the window.
