Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 466: Fierce Mu Yuze
He Juan was choked speechless when he heard that. Damn it, he could not believe that he, of all people, could make such a simple error!
It seemed like whatever drug was coating the bullet had messed with his mind so much that he became clumsy all over. The fact that he was facing Mu Yuze – the sharp and brilliant Mu Yuze with his superb observational skill – made the situation even worse!
"Xiao Ze..." He Juan palmed his forehead helplessly. But this time, he had no way out anymore.
He Juan had not turned on the light when he entered the room, only relying on the moonlight and the streetlamp glow filtering in through the window to illuminate his way. And at that moment, the gentle ray fell on his back, drawing Mu Yuze’s attention to the torn fabric on his right forearm. With his keen eyes, Mu Yuze spotted the long gash, and it appeared that He Juan had not treated his wound, as the surrounding fabric was stained with half-dried maroon blood.
Mu Yuze pursed his lips into thin lines. Without a word, he took the first aid kit and sat on the side of He Juan’s injured arm, skillfully opening the box to take out the alcohol, cotton buds, gauzes and medicine he needed.
While his hands were moving, he spoke in a matter-of-fact tone, "You have injured your dominant arm, it will be difficult for you to tend to it yourself. Besides, I’m used to dressing my own wounds. So you don’t need to be afraid that I will do a lousy job."
Once again, a perfectly appropriate excuse that shoved the words of refusal back into He Juan’s throat. But then, when he finally registered Mu Yuze’s words, a trace of distress flashed through his eyes, "I’m not afraid that—" you will do a lousy job.
He was not given the chance to finish his sentence because Mu Yuze cut him off sharply, "Don’t speak. Lift up your sleeve."
Those commanding words caused He Juan to clamp his mouth shut at once, and he dazedly rolled up his sleeve to reveal his muscular arm marred with a few old scars and a long gash on his forearm. It was not until Mu Yuze began to clean his wound that he snapped back to his senses.
Did Mu Yuze just... give him an order? Mu Yuze, his timid, shy and taciturn little bunny? He had never spoken to He Juan in such a fierce tone before that He Juan couldn’t help but feel caught off guard.
Oh no, it seemed like he had really made Mu Yuze angry this time!
Absent-mindedly, He Juan found his gaze drawn to Mu Yuze’s face. The boy looked so serious like this with a little furrow between his brows and tightly pursed lips. The longer He Juan looked at him, the more he felt like he couldn’t see enough. Why had he never realized how adorable Mu Yuze was before? The soft strands of hair that fell over his forehead were cute, his long curled lashes were cute, his tiny nose was cute, even the way he breathed was cute. He was so endearing that even his sullen visage was enough to make He Juan’s heart soften.
He Juan was utterly unaware of how his scorching gaze caused the boy to grow more and more flustered with each passing second.
The tip of his ears flushed, and his lashes fluttered wildly. Was it only his imagination, or had the temperature in the room risen a few degrees? He chewed on his bottom lip, took a deep breath and said in the same stern tone, albeit only he knew that it took all of his willpower just to steady his voice, "What are you doing? Go and take your medicine."
"Oh..." He Juan blinked and tore his gaze away from the teeth marks on the boy’s bottom lip where he had bitten down too hard.
As he popped the medicine into his mouth and downed it with water, his mind began to wonder. For his lips to be so easily marked, it must be so soft, right? En, at a glance it looked really plush and tender.
He swallowed the medicine down with force as though trying to relieve the tightness on his throat as well. And it was not until he finished all the water in his cup that he was reminded of something important.
Wait a second, was he allowed to consume cold medicine in his drugged state? He Juan pondered for a second before shrugging nonchalantly. Anyway, he would happily eat anything Mu Yuze gave him. If there was a complication, then it was a problem for the future He Juan to solve. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Mu Yuze was not lying when he said that he had gotten used to tending to his own injuries. In swift movements, he cleaned the blood around the gash with alcohol, applied the medicine gently before bandaging it.
"This is not a knife wound, is it?" He suddenly spoke, startling He Juan out of his reverie.
He blinked, taken aback. "Oh? How so?"
"I read about it somewhere," Mu Yuze simply said. "Knife wounds typically have clean-cut edges, but yours is irregular and there are also some bruises and abrasion."
He did not tell how, since knowing He Juan’s real occupation, he had developed a keen interest in law, criminology and psychology. If he had free time after his daily study, he would brush up his theoretical knowledge and try to cram as much as possible into his mind. He had no idea why he was doing this either, but it felt as if knowing more would make him be one step closer to this man.
"Our Xiao Ze is so smart," He Juan replied with a fond chuckle, though had no intention to explain further. Seeing that Mu Yuze had finished bandaging his arm, he rolled down his sleeve and spoke gently, "Thank you so much. You have been a great help. It’s very late now, go to sleep, okay?"
Mu Yuze paused for a briefest second before he continued to put the tools back and closed the first aid kit with a snap. Out of nowhere, a sense of indignation arose in his heart. There He Juan was, pushing him away again.
Always keeping him at an arm’s length, never allowing him to get close.
No matter how hard Mu Yuze tried to catch up with him, it all ended up futile, because at the end of the day, He Juan would always leave him behind. He thought that he would be satisfied by looking at this man’s back, by gazing at him from afar, by basking in his gentle smiles. But now, he realized that he had been too naïve. In truth, he was a greedy leech who wanted to take a mile after being given an inch. He wanted to grow up quickly so that he could be qualified to stay by He Juan’s side at all times.
And the best way to achieve it was...
"Gege." He took a deep breath to steel himself for what he was going to say next. "Can I work for you in the future?"
He Juan abruptly froze, and a look of incredulity filled his eyes. "...What?"
