Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 439: Insider Help
He Juan was taken aback. "A–Mu?" He had not expected to hear this name coming out of Jia Molei’s mouth. Wait a moment, last time, didn’t the doctor tell him that...
Realizing how unsuitable it was to talk about private matters on the dining table, He Juan cleared his throat and said, "Let me talk to Doctor Jia for a while."
He stood up and signaled for Jia Molei to follow him. They walked to the back garden, and once He Juan closed the balcony door, he asked with a frown, "Didn’t you say that he doesn’t have much longer to live? How could he be working at a bar now? You can’t be lying to me, can you?"
He couldn’t help but regard Jia Molei with suspicion, for it was very possible for this busybody to make up such a tear jerking story just to pull him and A-Mu closer. Well, if Jia Molei thought that He Juan was the kind of person who would pity someone because they were ill, then he was severely wrong. He only cared for a handful of people in his life and would not hesitate to break an arm or leg for them, but beyond that, he was the ruthless and impregnable XIU.
"Hell no!" Jia Molei burst out into expletives, his face flushing in anger. "Do you think I would joke about another person’s life like that?! That damn boy’s tumor did relapse a few months ago!"
Frustration laced his voice as he continued, "Given my current capabilities, I estimate that the success rate of his surgery is less than 50%. So I fucking advised him to seek a better doctor or just go to a hospital overseas because their technology is more advanced than ours, but..." he gritted his teeth and continued angrily, "He actually told me he would rather live out the remainder of his life than undergo another surgery!"
He Juan fell silent for a moment before sighing in defeat. He pinched his brows and admitted his mistake, "Okay, my bad. I was too paranoid."
"So," Jia Molei asked snobbishly. "Are you going to ask for his help?"
Was he? Personally, he did not want to be involved more than he already had with someone whom he had rejected in the past, especially an Omega. But speaking of efficiency, it would be better to seek support from inside and A–Mu, who was an insider and could easily adapt to the situation without He Juan needing to explain everything, was the best available choice.
He Juan did not harbor the foolish hope that they could capture Jay upon first meeting, as they needed to gauge the real situation first. But with A–Mu, they could bypass that step and proceed to the main action. The probability of success would skyrocket, and He Juan could also save more time.
Only less than three months was left from the six months he had promised He Xie, and if He Juan could take a shortcut to achieve his goal faster, why wouldn’t he?
"Okay," he nodded after careful consideration. "Let’s contact him."
Jia Molei instructed He Juan to retrieve his phone from his pocket. As He Juan composed an encrypted message to A-Mu, the doctor couldn’t help but comment in disdain, "Hmph, you don’t even know if A-Mu will agree to help you. Who knows? He might be sick of you already for all we know!"
But contrary to Jia Molei’s expectations, fifteen minutes later A–Mu responded with an ’Ok’ and ’see you tonight’.
He Juan raised a brow and waved the phone in front of Jia Molei’s face, earning him a displeased glare. "What the fuck are you doing now? Are you bullying the weak and crippled?!"
He Juan barked out an amused laugh, "So you finally admit it yourself?" He slung an arm over Jia Molei’s shoulders and guided the doctor back to the house. "Come on, for your outstanding contribution, Ge will feed you an extra bowl of rice today."
"Ge, your ass! Do you think you can act as you please just because you’re older than me?! Get your hands off me, you fucking bastard!"

9.30 pm. Outside Twilight Haven
Inside an inconspicuous van parked a distance away from the bar, Ye Qiu sat behind the wheel, with He Juan and Marius on the backseat. After finalizing their plan, now they were just waiting for A–Mu’s signal to make their entrance.
Marius’ blonde hair had been covered by a black wig, and he also wore lenses of similar color. A thin frameless glasses sat on the bridge of his nose, giving him a refined yet subdued appearance. Only his distinct features hinted at his mixed heritage, but it could easily be overlooked due to the dim light in the bar.
The air inside the car was warm, and Ye Qiu leaned back with her eyes closed to get some respite. Though she did not need to enter the bar tonight, she still had to be prepared to provide support in case things went awry. Just as she was about to doze off, she heard Marius ask, "It’s rare to see you smile like that. Did something good happen?"
She opened her eyes in time to catch the traces of smile on the corner of He Juan’s lips through the rearview mirror, which really looked different than the usual smile he showed. It was more... candid and heartfelt. Ye Qiu did not mean to eavesdrop, but she could not help but get curious too.
"Ah, is it?" He Juan was taken aback to be called out and quickly hid the screen of his phone from sight.
He was scrolling through his phone when he accidentally opened the gallery and stumbled upon a set of photos he had taken secretly a few days before, and before he knew it, his lips had hooked into a smile. For some reason, he did not want it to be seen by others, especially an Alpha like Marius. Yet he also couldn’t resist the urge to boast. Torn between the dilemma, He Juan cleared his throat and decided to say a little, "I was just looking at the photos of Xiao Ze. Mu Yuze, you remember him, right? He likes to sleep with my clothes so much. Isn’t he adorable?"
He Juan chuckled, only to pause midway when he realized the strange look Marius and Ye Qiu were giving him.
Raising a brow, he asked, "What?"
"Ah, Little Mu Yuze?" Marius let out a dry chuckle and chose his words carefully. "Of course, I remember him. Sirius always talks about wanting to hang out with him again. But I didn’t expect that... your relationship has progressed so much?"
Confusion clouded He Juan’s eyes, unable to figure out where Marius was going with this conversation. "Our relationship? It’s just the same as always. Why are you asking?"
The corner of Marius’ lips twitched. Looking at He Juan’s expression, he could tell that the man was really oblivious. "You do know that... hoarding clothes can be considered nesting, right?" He mercifully decided to omit the ’especially an Alpha’s clothes’ to spare He Juan from the shock.
However, just the mention of ’nesting’ alone was already enough to turn He Juan dumbfounded. His entire person was frozen as if he had been struck by thunder. "...What?"
