Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 393: The Loyal Dog
Shivers ran down Dai Zhi’s spine when he heard that gentle yet chilling voice.
He wrecked his brain, trying to recall who could be so audacious as to kidnap a high-ranking politician, but his mind drew an abrupt blank. He knew very well how the struggle in politics worked. Everyone might act passive-aggressively and throw out threats veiled under layers of cordiality, but they would not dare to do something like this for the risk was too high to bear if it was exposed. It was akin to sacrificing eight hundred men to kill one thousand enemies.
But if it was not his rivals from the political world, then who? As far as he remembered, he had never—
Dai Zhi’s breath hitched on his throat when a name flashed through his mind. "X–XIU...?"
That’s right. This kind of crude and ruffian style... who could it be if not the devil from the underworld?!
He Juan leaned back on the chair with one leg crossed on top of another, his head propped on his knuckles as he measured the man in front of him. He could almost hear the gears turning in Dai Zhi’s mind before he accurately guessed the identity of his kidnapper.
He let out a light chuckle, not surprised at all that Dai Zhi could be so quick to make the connection. On the contrary, he would be disappointed if the man were to take any longer.
And based on that chuckle alone, Dai Zhi already knew that his guess was spot on. His entire body tensed up as the thick ropes dug painfully into his flesh. So the one in front of him was really the rumored XIU – in the flesh! Too bad that he was blindfolded and could not see the man’s appearance with his own eyes.
Dai Zhi started to tremble, though he had no idea whether it was due to fear or excitement. "Is that really you, XIU?" he threw his head back and laughed out loud, mocking. "So all it took was that little nudge for you to show yourself, huh? Have those people really grabbed hold of your weakness? To think how everyone claimed that you are invincible..."
Hearing this, the temperature in He Juan’s silver eyes cooled down in an instant. His jaws tightened and his knuckles cracked when he recalled the moment when he opened the door to see Mu Yuze’s helpless state. The bruises on his body, the blood he had spilled and the tears in his eyes...
Last time, the one who had arranged people to trail He Juan during his trip to the hospital with Mu Yuze was also this man. But previously, he had acted under Fang Yazhu’s order, and Fang Yazhu would know better than to slight He Juan again in such a short amount of time, especially with the warning he had personally delivered to the man. That’s why He Juan reckoned that Dai Zhi had acted alone this time.
As for the reason, did he even need to think about it? He was one of Fang Yazhu’s greatest supporters, and he must be itching to serve He Juan’s head on a silver platter to that man in order to gain his favor. After all, even though Miss Liang’s campaigns had been a huge success, Fang Yazhu was still a powerful candidate for the prime minister position with the sheer number of people he had bribed in the National Congress.
If Fang Yazhu really ascended the position, then Dai Zhi – this loyal dog – would be splashed along with the glory.
He Juan straightened up and dragged the trolley to him, then he started to filter through the sharp and deadly tools on the tray. "I think you still have no idea what kind of situation you are in, Mr. Dai," he said, still with a hint of a smile in his voice. However, the unmistakable sounds of metals and steels clanging against each other was making Dai Zhi nervous as the smile slowly faded from his face.
"Do you know why I am invincible? It’s not because I have no weakness... but it’s because I have buried anyone who dares to discover it." He Juan’s hand paused on a small serrated knife and he brought it in front of his eyes to admire how sharp and beautiful it was. "You have poked the hornet’s nest. Surely, you can’t expect to escape unscathed, right?"
This time, the trembles on Dai Zhi’s body was definitely out of fear. "W–What do you want to do?!" He immediately lost his composure once he heard He Juan’s footsteps approaching him. He tried to back away, but the wooden chair he was sitting on was nailed to the ground and rendered him immobile with no way to break free. In the end, he could only resort to threats, "Have you gone insane?! Don’t you know who I am?!"
He Juan stopped right in front of him and scoffed, feeling ridiculous at the pompous question, "Of course, I know. You are Dai Zhi, a distinguished and reputable member of the National Congress Party." He reached out and gripped the man’s hair, causing him to arc his neck sharply.
Dai Zhi screamed. Gone was his haughtiness and arrogance earlier. Cold sweat beaded on his hairline as he blurted out, "I–If you touch me, you will not be able to get away from it! Let me go and I... I will take it as this incident has never happened at all!"
He Juan stared down at the struggling man, his eyes as cold as the snowy peak of the mountain during winter.
’I’m warning you, XIU. Don’t fucking underestimate them at all.’
’You are nothing but a thug. What makes you think that you can take control of the political world?’ 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
All of a sudden, the words Jia Molei and Fang Yazhu had told him flashed through his mind, as well as his own resolution not to involve himself in politics aside from protecting Miss Liang and making sure that her enemies could not get to her. But then, it eventually boiled down to the image of the trembling boy who huddled in the corner of the storage room with tears pooling in his soulful eyes.
"You will take it as if it has never happened at all?" he repeated the man’s words and snorted quietly. Gripping the man’s hair tighter, he lifted the knife and brought it down, filling the room with agonizing and high-pitched howls.
"Unfortunately, I can’t do that."

Like usual, when He Juan emerged from the torture chamber with his face and clothes drenched in blood, it was Chen Youzhi who stood on standby with a wet towel at hand. "Boss."
As He Juan wiped the blood off his skin, he took the time to unwind from the suffocating stench of blood and excretion that lingered on the top of his nose. He handed the towel back to Chen Youzhi and ordered, "He’s still alive, but not for too long. Dump him in one of Fang Yazhu’s villas. It will serve to act as a warning not only for him, but also for others who have set their eyes on me."
Chen Youzhi looked as if he wanted to say something, but upon sensing the heavy aura around He Juan, he could only swallow his words and nod, "...Understood."
How could He Juan not notice the man’s slight hesitance? He knew what Chen Youzhi was concerned about, but he did not want to care about it right now. Revenge always felt satisfying, and if he was not careful, he would get drunk in the thrill and pleasure of executing it.
This would be the last time, he told himself. He would not dip his hands into the political world any more than this.
"How about Mo Feng?" He switched the topic. "Is there any news from the bounty yet?"
