Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 394: Dinner With Gege?
"There are a few inputs," Chen Youzhi replied. "But the problem is, we couldn’t confirm the authenticity of the information. Some of them sound utterly ridiculous, if I can be honest. I have put the documents in your office if you want to look through them, Boss."
He Juan let out a mirthless scoff, "That guy sure is hiding well, isn’t he?" He had thought that he would be able to drag Mo Feng out within a week, but it seemed like the man was more cautious than expected. Aside from the bombing accident on the first day of New Year, he had not caused any additional trouble.
It was smart of him to stay low, but also quite... infuriating. He Juan truly did not like this feeling of being played with.
Leaving the underground floor, he made his way to the office and took a long shower to scrub off the disgusting stench of Dai Zhi’s hypocrite blood from his body. After that, he went to check on the document Chen Youzhi was talking about.
Indeed, most of them were very vague. Something like they had seen someone who looked like Mo Feng in Hubei City but he disappeared as soon as they wanted to confirm his identity. Another claimed that they had seen Mo Feng walking in a hotel lobby with a rich CEO and their relationship looked quite intimate...
He Juan clicked his tongue in annoyance.
His gaze eventually landed on the last information which had arrived the day before. Also Hubei, but there was an additional address of an abandoned warehouse.
He Juan narrowed his eyes as he tapped his fingers on the table. He couldn’t be more familiar with this address. Because before he took Mu Yuze in and settled down in Shunan City, he had just ransacked this warehouse upside down and rescued all of the omegas caged inside. That place was one of the strongholds of the omega trafficking organization.
What were the odds that Mo Feng would be seen there?
He Juan leaned back on the chair and stared up at the ceiling, sighing. Up until now, that organization had gone completely radio silent since He Juan hunted them down for six full months. He and Marius had been keeping track of the number of missing omegas across the country, but so far it seemed like they were trying to keep a low profile as no activity was detected. Even though He Juan had crippled that organization’s power, the ringleader still had not been caught yet. They had been hiding so deep that He Juan did not even have any useful information on them. And as long as that person was still alive, the organization would surely return one day.
How was Mo Feng related to that person? Should he personally return to Hubei and check it out again?
He glanced at the clock and saw that evening was quickly approaching. If he left now, he would be able to make it on time to have dinner with Mu Yuze.
Since they moved into the new house, the number of times they had eaten a meal together could be counted in one hand. But ever the sensible, Mu Yuze took care of the house without a single word of complaint. He never demanded anything and instead, told He Juan to take care of his own health. The more He Juan thought about it, the more guilty he was.
He should have set aside some time for Mu Yuze, shouldn’t he?
Making up his mind, He Juan grabbed his phone and car keys and rushed out of his office. He was grateful for his insight to settle on the residential neighborhood as he did not have to be troubled over the endless traffic, making him arrive at home on time.
He pulled up in front of the house, peered out of the window and smiled when he saw the curtain move. He pressed the honk twice and not long after, Mu Yuze came out, half-jogging.
When the boy opened the gate, He Juan rolled down the window and flashed his most charming smile, "Hey there, care to have dinner with Gege?" He laughed when Mu Yuze’s ears flushed red. Why was he so fun to tease?
"Have you eaten yet, Xiao Ze?"
Mu Yuze shook his head quickly, "No... not yet."
He Juan tilted his head to the seat beside him. "Grab your coat and let’s go."
Nodding, the boy turned back into the house and almost tripped in his haste. "Careful!" He Juan exclaimed, but it made Mu Yuze run faster instead and somehow the sight of his fleeing back reminded him of a hopping bunny. He Juan pressed his lips tight to rein in the laughter, his shoulders shaking lightly. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Goodness, how could Mu Yuze be such a wonder? He could swear that his mood had turned rotten thanks to Dai Zhi, but being in Mu Yuze’s presence, he felt so at ease and peaceful as if he could leave all those burdens behind to savor the tranquility between them.
When Mu Yuze slipped into the car clad in a thick jacket, He Juan noticed that his ears, face and red were all flushed in a crimson hue. Not only that, he was also out of breath. "Look at you," He Juan clicked his tongue and adjusted the heater higher. "Why are you so red? You didn’t catch a cold, did you?"
Mu Yuze shook his head and buried his face into the fur collar as if he could hide from He Juan’s scrutinizing gaze that way.
"What do you want to eat?" He Juan asked as he started the car. "I feel bad letting you cook your own meals all the time. Shall we eat something fancy?"
"Up to you," he murmured. "It’s more cost-effective to cook by myself either way..."
He Juan held back the urge to sigh. What was the use of cost-effectiveness if it was not nutritious? He Juan had seen the ingredients in the refrigerator and it appalled him to find out that all Mu Yuze had been eating were quick and instant meals that could be prepared by either boiling or frying. He was in his growth period so how could he settle with eating garbage like that?! Alas, he knew that Mu Yuze was a beginner cook, so what did he expect the boy to prepare? It’s not like Mu Yuze would listen to him either if he gave him money and told him to buy delicious food...
He Juan tapped his fingers on the wheel and decided to approach this matter in a roundabout way. "Come to think of it, Gege has not tasted your cooking yet. How about tomorrow?"
"Y–You want me to cook for you tomorrow?" Mu Yuze became even redder, if it was possible.
"Uh-huh, is there a problem with it?"
"But..." he fiddled with his fingers nervously, unable to bring himself to look at He Juan. "I don’t know if it will suit your taste or not..."
He Juan couldn’t help but scoff when he heard that. Just the mere notion of Mu Yuze going out of his way to cook for him was already enough to fill him with utter bliss. How could he even bring himself to complain about the taste? Even if it was burnt, undercooked or doused with poison, He Juan would still eat them all and praise the boy to high heavens!
"Isn’t that all the more reason why you need to cook for me?" He earnestly tried to persuade the boy. "Just think about it. If you taste it yourself, how can you judge whether it’s good or not? Cook for Gege, and Gege will give you feedback and help you improve. Don’t you think it’s a win-win situation?"
Beside him, Mu Yuze snorted quietly, apparently sensing that He Juan was spouting nonsense with confidence again. This man always had a way to make him cave in, so what’s the use of him resisting? He let out a light sigh, "Then... I will cook for you tomorrow."
’Success!’ He Juan internally pumped his fist in the air, though his face betrayed nothing at all. "Great, let’s do it at dinnertime like today."
Mu Yuze asked, "Do you have any allergies or..."
"Nope, I’m super good," He Juan sent him a wink, unable to keep the smile off his face. This way, he could watch over the boy’s food intake and urged him to learn how to cook something healthy. "I will eat whatever Xiao Ze cooks for me."
Mu Yuze let out a harrumph and threw his gaze out of the window, cursing how easy it was for He Juan to make his heart flutter. Now that the man sounded so happy, how could he not get excited? He was starting to look forward to tomorrow already. To cook for Juan-gege... oh God, he’d better not burn the food at all!
After dinner, the two of them went grocery shopping to buy the ingredients Mu Yuze needed for tomorrow. Everytime the boy deviated toward instant and frozen ingredients, He Juan would steer him to grab more vegetables, fruits and red meat.
As Mu Yuze was mulling over his thoughts in front of the meat and dairy section, He Juan wandered to buy himself a few bottles of milk tea because he had just remembered that he had not stocked up yet in the new house.
But then as he walked through the aisles, his peripheral vision suddenly caught sight of a familiar person and in an instant, his eyes flew wide in shock.
That was—!
