Captured By The Cold Detective (BL)-Chapter 179: Do you remember?
Yuyang Hospital Center.
Thanks to Mu Yuze’s beautiful singing, He Juan slept through the night without any dreams.
Sunlight filtered in through the gaps of the blinds, one particular block falling right across his face and rousing him awake. After a deep slumber, he felt as if his brain had become a mess of sticky lump and his limbs the embodiment of unbendable steel for how stiff they were.
He slowly cracked his eyes open and... saw a sleeping angel right in front of him.
He Juan promptly held his breath and kept himself still. If he recalled correctly, last night Mu Yuze was hugging him while humming softly, yet some time during the night, he had burrowed his way into He Juan’s arms again and snuggled against He Juan’s side.
He Juan’s gaze was fixated on the omega’s sleeping face, marveling at his soft and delicate features.
With each inhale Mu Yuze took, his dense lashes would quiver like an exquisite black fan. His cheeks were fair and smooth, and his beautiful lips were parted slightly. It was fascinating how gentle Mu Yuze looked when he was sleeping. Those sharp, penetrating eyes of his – which could pierce deeply into someone’s soul – was currently absent, giving him an extremely angelic look. Very tender and adorable.
As always, Mu Yuze was still curled up in his sleep – a position which according to Jia Molei meant that the omega was extremely insecure deep inside. But then, He Juan’s heart melted when he saw that Mu Yuze was curling toward him as if he was subconsciously seeking comfort and protection from his presence.
He Juan’s hand was already reaching out halfway when he forcibly halted it midair. His eyes rounded in surprise. This... This disobedient hand... how could it move on its own?! No matter how soft and squishy Mu Yuze’s cheek looked, it was unethical of him to pinch him when he was asleep. No, he must not do that despite how tempting it sounded!
A battle swiftly ensued in He Juan’s mind. Two contrasting sides, each with their own virtue and lure, clashed with each other. Between ’Xiao Ze is still sleeping. If you still have conscience then you shouldn’t bother him’ and ’one pinch, just one pinch and it will be enough. I swear I will do it gently’, He Juan’s scale was slowly tilting to the latter. Alas, his dilemma was cut off short when he abruptly sensed a gaze falling on him from behind.
He Juan turned his head and saw that Su Xieren was peering into the room through the glass panel. When he saw that He Juan was awake, he gestured at himself and the door, asking silently, "May I come in?"
He Juan had just wanted to nod when he recalled that the angel in his arms was still in a blissful sleep. Hence, he put his finger on his lips and then gestured that he would be the one to come out. After receiving Su Xieren’s nod, he turned to Mu Yuze again, gazed at him for two full seconds before carefully disentangling his arms from the omega, and vice versa. The most tricky problem was the tight grip Mu Yuze had on the gown He Juan was wearing. It was as if even in his sleep, he wanted to make sure that He Juan would not leave his side...
Distressed, He Juan pursed his lips and pried Mu Yuze’s hand off with a movement as careful as possible, but in the end he still roused the omega awake.
"Juan-gege...?" Mu Yuze murmured with his eyes barely opened by a crack, his voice was raspy and sticky from drowsiness.
He Juan’s heart softened into a pool of rainbow goo from how adorable he was. He slowly bent down to drop a loving kiss on Mu Yuze’s forehead. "I’m sorry for waking you up..." he whispered in a regretful tone. "It’s okay, just go back to sleep. Gege will talk to Xieren for a while."
"Hmm..." Mu Yuze’s lips puckered lightly. He looked like he wanted to say something, but then because He Juan’s kisses on his face was too comfortable, he held himself back in the end and closed his eyes again. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Oh God, He Juan was going to die from how painful his heart was squeezing right now. Was it reluctance and grievance he heard in Mu Yuze’s soft hum? Alas, because his omega was too sensible, he would not utter such an inconsiderate request like asking him to stay. Never. He Juan’s heart ached so much for him and that’s why he could not resist chomping on Mu Yuze’s fair cheek and promised softly, "I will return soon."
Not giving himself any chance to stare at Mu Yuze’s beautiful visage, He Juan slowly climbed down from the bed and dragged his IV stand to the door.
"Good morning, Xieren," he greeted in a light tone as if they were meeting in a cafe for a morning coffee and not the hospital.
"Da-ge?" Su Xieren was taken aback. He measured He Juan closely and whatever he found there caused him to sigh in relief. "You have recovered your memory." It was more of a statement than a question.
"More or less," He Juan scratched his cheek, sheepish. "I don’t really remember what happened yesterday, but I am sure that I have given you a handful to deal with..." His gaze landed on the bruise on Su Xieren’s face as well as the split on the corner of his lips. This was not the first time Su Xieren had gotten injured because of him. Seven years ago, he had also suffered from many bruises on his body almost every single day, but it did not mean that He Juan would not feel guilty now.
"I’m sorry," he said glumly, his heart heavy. Not only had he hurt his omega, but he had also attacked his little didi. He was really trash.
Su Xieren chuckled, "I want to say that it’s nothing, but I have indeed received a loss. Just treat me later and we will count it even. How about it?"
He Juan blinked, surprised, and then a faint laughter escaped his lips. "Okay, just send me the bill."
Subsequently, Su Xieren proceeded to inform him of what to take care of and set an appointment for another blood test and CT scan. Afraid that He Juan would forget, he had even prepared a laminated sheet with everything typed neatly in bold font.
A burst of warmth and fondness surged in He Juan’s chest every time he received this little bit of kindness. It reminded him that there was someone who still cared for his well being. Someone who would risk themselves to bring him back from the edge of the abyss. That’s right, even though out there, there was another person who was asking why he was still alive...
He Juan mentally shook the memory out of his head. Then he asked Su Xieren in a casual tone, "Where is Molei? Has he gone home?"
"Hmm," Su Xieren nodded. "I heard from the Admin that Jia-ge is taking a few days off. Serves him right for not treating his wounds well. Perhaps the fever can force him to stay in bed for a while."
He Juan was concerned. "Is he really okay...?"
"Don’t bother, da-ge." Su Xieren ruthlessly waved his worry off. "Compared to you, he is as strong as a bull. Toss him into the ocean and he will swim faster than the shark. He will do just fine. Last night, I checked his injuries and they’re no more than skin wounds and bruises. If he doesn’t do any strenuous activity and overexert himself, then he will recover with proper rest. As for you..." he paused and asked tentatively, "Have you... retrieved all of your memory? Do you remember anything from your past?"
