"No!" Jia Molei did not even have to think before he firmly expressed his refusal. "No fucking way. Absolutely not. Don’t even think about it! Didn’t you hear what Su Xieren has said earlier? He Juan almost killed him! Or do you think you’re stronger than him, huh?!"

Doctor Tang also showed some doubt. He had participated in the chaotic event that year and knew very well how the Alphas would behave once they suffered from the side effects of AX–03.

To put it simply, they turned into a mindless creature akin to savage beasts who wished for nothing but blood and destruction. It was not like the doctors had not thought of using omega’s pheromones as therapy. For restless Alphas, having soothing and sweet pheromones around them would most likely suppress the effect of the drug. With that notion in mind, they launched the plan to let the patients’ omega family or partner to step up and calm them down.

But the problem was... this method backfired instead!

To say that the Alphas had lost their mind would be an utter understatement. They were not even able to recognize their own bonded partner. As a result, the poor omegas received severe backlash as their Alphas’ violent pheromones tore into their gland and caused it to be permanently damaged. After a few similar cases, the doctors finally gave up on this futile plan and were forced to think of another alternative method. In the end, synthetic pheromones were created. They were not real pheromones but a mixture of various chemicals concocted to achieve the soothing impact as close to omega’s pheromones as possible. With this, no omegas would be harmed anymore.

"Excuse me, err... Mr. Mu, right?" Doctor Tang tried to deliver it in the most considerate way. "It’s not like I don’t want to let you go, but it’s really no use. Only synthetic pheromones will work on—"

"No. Only me... it can only be me." Mu Yuze’s gaze went through the crowd to the monitor screen. There, he saw He Juan who had his limbs tied by leather belts with his face half-covered by a steel muzzle. He had calmed down considerably from his bout of paranoia, but his chest was still heaving as if he was in a whole lot of pain.

"I can tell..." he pressed his palm over his heart and felt it thudding in his chest. Loud, messy and uneven. It longed to go to where it was supposed to be – to his Alpha’s side. "I can tell that he is waiting for me. He needs me..."

Mu Yuze had no idea where this sudden thought came from. He just knew it deep within. Juan-gege was waiting for him. Juan-gege needed him. Craved for him. Only he could bring his Alpha back from the abyss of misery...

Doctor Tang furrowed his brow, still disapproved of this risky method. "But—"

Su Xieren suddenly cleared his throat. When he saw that everyone’s attention was on him, he proceeded to say, "Excuse me, Doctor Tang. I have something to say. I know that you’re worried that He Juan will hurt his omega but... what if it’s his true mate?"

Not only Doctor Tang, even Jia Molei, Mu Yuze and everyone in the room were shocked. "What–?!"

Doctor Tang was flabbergasted. As the Head of Pheromones Department, nobody knew how rare true mates were more than him. "Did you just say... true mate?!"

Su Xieren glanced at Mu Yuze’s stunned look and knew that He Juan had not said anything to him. He could not help but sigh. "This is just my conjecture. Both of them have triggered each other’s heat and rut within a few hours of their first encounter. Moreover, He Juan’s condition is very special because he has not gotten a rut for the past seven years. I have relayed my hypothesis to him before, but... it looks like he forgot to mention it to you."

Mu Yuze was so shocked that he could only shake his head dumbly.

A few nurses went out to receive it and brought it into the room.
