Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 333 - 334: Awesome! The other two families are not participating either
When they went out, she was wearing a white and pink coat, a knitted hat on her head, and warm boots on her feet, looking just like any ordinary young girl. Bo Xichen had also changed into a casual padded jacket, with the young lady hanging onto his arm.
Gu Anxi bought many couplets and other decorations. Bo Xichen reminded her, "Your Father Bo’s calligraphy has such a masterly style, and you’re buying these?"
"They’re pretty!" Gu Anxi said, grabbing the items and expecting her Young Uncle to pay.
Bo Xichen was happy to indulge her; he bought whatever she wanted. In the end, they returned with the car trunk completely full of things...
After returning home, their work wasn’t over. Bo Xichen was kept incredibly busy helping the little rascal put up New Year paintings and couplets.
Si Garden was huge. Fortunately, she showed some favoritism and only decorated the residences of a few close elder relatives. Bo Nianyao and his wife, as well as Aunt Bo Jin, had all given her large red envelopes in advance, each containing a card.
Gu Anxi secretly asked, "Young Uncle, how much money is this?"
Bo Xichen, wearing a gray sweater and busy helping her put up couplets, glanced at it casually and chuckled, "My parents’ card should be ten million, and Aunt’s should be five million."
Gu Anxi kissed the cards. "I’m rich, I’m rich!"
While he was putting up couplets, she hugged his waist from behind, pressing her small face against his back. "Bo Xichen, I want to spend every New Year at your home."
He laughed. "Miss Gu, you won’t be so valuable after we get married."
"I demand a big red envelope every New Year! Otherwise, we’ll break up, and you’ll have to pursue me all over again," she declared shamelessly and a little smugly.
Bo Xichen caught one of her hands and said softly, "We won’t break up."
Gu Anxi snuggled against his back. "Aww~ Then, Young Uncle, you’ll have to use lots and lots of money to sustain our love."
He laughed and scolded good-naturedly, "Gu Anxi, aren’t you a shameless little thing?"
She just continued to act cute.
Just then, a distinguished figure emerged from an elegant room. It was none other than Bo Qing, an uncle from the Bo family.
Bo Qing’s slender, jade-like fingers touched the cheap couplets. Then he smiled at Bo Xichen. "Anxi is being rather mischievous, and you’re indulging her quite a bit now."
Bo Xichen inclined his head slightly. "Second Uncle."
Bo Qing nodded. "It’s nothing. Please, continue."
As he spoke, he looked at Gu Anxi, who was hiding behind Bo Xichen, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Bo Xichen pulled Gu Anxi out from behind him. "Aren’t you going to greet Second Uncle?"
Gu Anxi obediently did so.
Bo Qing smiled; the men of the Bo family were all exceptionally handsome when they smiled, and Bo Qing was no exception.
"I heard that your Father Bo, Mother Bo, and Aunt all gave you large red envelopes. As your Second Uncle, I can’t be stingy either," Bo Qing said, handing over an envelope.
Inside, there was a card.
Gu Anxi hesitated, looking towards Bo Xichen with a hint of reliance in her eyes.
Bo Qing’s expression remained composed.
Bo Xichen chuckled. "Since it’s a gift from an elder, go ahead and take it."
Gu Anxi said, "Oh," and quickly snatched the envelope from Bo Qing’s hand, then looked a little embarrassed.
Bo Qing seemed to let out a soft chuckle.
At this point, Bo Xichen felt they were disturbing their elder and decided to take his leave.
Bo Qing smiled gently. "Won’t you come in for a cup of tea, Xichen?"
Bo Xichen politely declined. "No, thank you, Second Uncle. It’s too cold outside; I should take Anxi back to the Orchid Room first."
With that, he put an arm around Gu Anxi’s shoulder, and they headed back the way they had come. Bo Qing remained standing in the dimness, watching their retreating figures.
After a long moment, his slender, jade-like hand slowly rose to his handsome face, covering his eyes as if to prevent anyone from seeing his gaze.
She seems... very happy, he murmured to himself.
When Gu Anxi and Bo Xichen returned to the Orchid Room, they realized their noses were red from the cold.
They played around on the sofa, then huddled together for warmth.
Once they were warm, Gu Anxi held up the envelope from Bo Qing. "Guess how much is in here?"
Bo Xichen chuckled, took it from her, and opened it. "Probably ten million, the same as my parents."
"That’s so much! Is it really okay?" Gu Anxi turned the card over and over in her hands. "Your Second Uncle isn’t married yet, right? Could this be his marriage fund?"
Bo Xichen tapped her lightly on the head. "Stop talking nonsense."
Lying on her stomach, Gu Anxi casually remarked, "Bo Xichen, don’t you find it strange? Your Second Uncle is so handsome, why hasn’t he ever married?"
Bo Xichen smiled. "Aunt Bo Jin isn’t married either, is she?"
"That’s different," Gu Anxi drawled.
Bo Xichen frowned. "How is it different?"
Gu Anxi grinned mischievously. "Because Aunt Bo Jin has me!" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Bo Xichen had to admire her audacity; her thick skin was truly unparalleled.
While things were lively and cheerful at the Bo Family’s residence, life for the Gu family was not so pleasant.
After dinner, Gu Yuanshan became rather agitated after taking a series of phone calls.
Shen Congwen whispered, "What’s wrong, Mr. Gu?"
Gu Yuanshan walked over to close the study door, then paced back and forth for a while before finally speaking. "Something terrible has happened!"
Shen Congwen was startled. "What is it that has Mr. Gu so alarmed?"
Gu Yuanshan stopped pacing. "Just now, both the Chu Family and the Jiang Family called. They said they *might* not be able to attend this year’s annual gathering."
Shen Congwen pondered for a moment. "They used the word ’might’?"
Even the usually refined Gu Yuanshan couldn’t help but curse. "Those bastards are so damn cunning! They didn’t give a definite ’no,’ but it clearly means if the Bo Family doesn’t come, they won’t either. Do they take me for a fool?"
Shen Congwen quickly asked, "Is there no other way then? If all three families don’t attend, how will the Gu family maintain its standing in the future?"
"That’s exactly what I’m worried about!" Gu Yuanshan was frantic. He then coughed lightly. "Congwen, the Gu family is, after all, the second most prominent family in Beicheng. Have we truly lost all our influence?"
He couldn’t believe it; he refused to believe it.
Shen Congwen dared not speak.
The Bo Family wielded immense power. He had felt from the beginning that Mrs. Gu’s actions were ill-advised. But he, Shen Congwen, was merely Mr. Gu’s assistant; what influence did he have compared to the words a wife whispered to her husband?
And now, wasn’t this a clear slap in the face?
Gu Yuanshan had no good ideas for the moment, so he called Tang Yuan in to discuss the matter, inevitably grumbling a few complaints at her.
Tears welled in Tang Yuan’s eyes as she sat silently to one side...
Gu Yuanshan paced back and forth before finally settling on a plan. "Alright, this is what we’ll do: I will personally swallow my pride and go plead with Bo Nianyao!"
Shen Congwen gently reminded him, "Mr. Gu, it’s almost 10 p.m. Mr. Bo has likely retired for the night."
Gu Yuanshan nearly lost his composure. "I have to go plead with him, no matter how late! Bo Xichen is leaving for Qingcheng tomorrow morning. If he doesn’t even come back by the fifth day of the New Year, then this whole charade our Gu family has set up will turn into an utter failure! Won’t everything be ruined then?"
He waved his hand decisively. "I will go and beg him myself."
He had just spoken when an aged but thoroughly menacing voice rang out, "You, beg? Gu Yuanshan, what do you have to beg with? That conscience of yours that was devoured by a dog?"
Everyone in the study froze, their gazes involuntarily turning towards the doorway.
There, by the door, Gu Ning was supporting an elderly woman as they stepped into the Gu family home...
