Campus Ace Girl-Chapter 332 - 333: Uncle, I’m tired, sing me to sleep
Tang Yuan remained silent, simply casting a glance at Gu Yuanshan.
Gu Yuanshan looked at Gu Ning. "You’re being too harsh," he said. "We’re just following precedent."
Gu Ning chuckled. "Fine, see for yourself. If the Bo Family doesn’t participate, who else will?"
Tang Yuan then spoke gently, "The Jiang and Chu families have both agreed to participate."
Gu Ning nodded. "So, it was a well-prepared battle," she remarked. "I wish Big Brother and Sister-in-law success in their grand conquest."
After saying her piece, Gu Ning walked away with her head held high.
Tang Yuan watched her leave, her eyes wide, then turned to Gu Yuanshan. "Yuanshan, isn’t Gu Ning disregarding you far too much?"
Gu Yuanshan deflected, "You’ve known Gu Ning’s temperament for a long time. Alright, alright, don’t be angry."
He held his wife, gently comforting her for a long while until Tang Yuan’s worries turned to joy.
Gu Yuanshan sighed. "She’s just that harsh, why bother with her! Focus on managing our Mingzhu Film’s affairs properly and ensure it’s released early. When that time comes, we, as parents, will also gain face, don’t you think?"
Tang Yuan smiled softly. "I understand."
Gu Yuanshan’s brows furrowed. "I received news from Congwen the other day. He said Zhou Yunchen has flatly rejected us. It seems we may not be able to represent Jing after all."
Tang Yuan was somewhat surprised. "Didn’t he have a good impression of Congwen? Why would he refuse then?"
Gu Yuanshan was exceedingly displeased. "Zhou Yunchen, that bastard, has been utterly intractable, refusing all our overtures."
He sighed again. "I only feel sorry for Congwen, who has spent so long dealing with him."
Tang Yuan coughed softly and said nothing further.
On the Minor New Year, the second edition of "Big Grey Wolf" hit the market.
A print run of 5,000,000 copies was virtually unimaginable in the past.
But Bo Jin had achieved it.
On the day of its release, the entire Beicheng was talking about it—
How long could the Da Hui phenomenon last?
Gu Anxi spent the whole day signing books at Beicheng’s largest animation city, where the crowds were immense.
After returning to Si Garden, she immediately collapsed onto the sofa, exhausted. Bo Xichen began to massage her.
"So tired," she complained quietly, her tone coquettish.
Bo Xichen chuckled. Just then, Bo Jin came over holding a tablet. "Little one, do you know how many copies we sold today?"
Gu Anxi asked hopefully, "Over 1,000,000 copies?"
Bo Jin patted her head. "Wrong guess."
Gu Anxi sat up. "Then how many?"
Bo Jin smiled. "Initially, I thought we’d need the entire Spring Festival holiday to sell all 5,000,000 copies. But today alone, we’ve sold over 3,000,000 copies. We’ll sell the rest tomorrow; it’s truly become a sought-after book."
"Really?" Gu Anxi stammered, then looked at Bo Xichen. "I told you my Little Uncle is a treasure."
Bo Jin’s face flushed. "You little rascal, always teasing your Little Uncle!" she retorted. "Alright, I won’t disturb you two. I’ll get going now." She then looked at Bo Xichen. "Little one has worked hard, Xichen. Please take good care of her."
Bo Xichen stood to see his aunt off. When he returned, he saw Gu Anxi flexing her tired hands. He leaned against the door and smiled. "My lady, you’ve worked hard."
Gu Anxi huffed, "I’m not your lady!"
He came over smiling, continuing to massage her wrists. "If not my lady, then are you my mistress or my wife?"
Gu Anxi leaned on his shoulder. "Little Uncle, I’m sleepy. Lull me to sleep."
"Lull you to sleep?" He laughed.
She wrapped her arms around him, closed her eyes, and was just about to whisper something when Fengxi’s voice chirped cheerfully, "Professor Bo is going to lull the little baby to sleep again!"
Gu Anxi opened her eyes a slit and stuck her tongue out at Fengxi.
As the New Year approached, Lady Bo began to inventory the festival gifts for her son’s trip to Qingcheng. Since it was their first Spring Festival together, no carelessness could be allowed.
Lady Bo and Bo Jin were busy in the storeroom, while Gu Anxi, feeling a bit bored, found two large Luminous Pearls and began playing with them as if they were marbles.
Lady Bo laughed reprovingly. "You’re such a spendthrift! So many people would kill for one of those, and you’re using them as marbles!"
Gu Anxi picked them up to look. They seemed to be of fine quality.
Lady Bo couldn’t truly bring herself to scold her. She humored her instead, "Alright, alright, go play. Don’t disturb your aunt and me while we’re busy with important things. By the way, where’s Xichen? Why aren’t you pestering him and hanging around us instead?"
Gu Anxi rested her chin on her hand. "Little Uncle is busy at the hospital."
Lady Bo laughed again. "No wonder you’re with us."
Gu Anxi stuck close to them persistently, touching this and that in the meantime.
Lady Bo and Bo Jin had no choice but to let her be. However, having an extra child in the family certainly made things much livelier.
In the afternoon, Bo Nianyao returned first. Hearing that his wife and sister were busy, he had Gu Anxi called to his study.
Gu Anxi was much more well-behaved in his presence, addressing him as, "Bo Dad."
Bo Nianyao was much more casual. He adjusted his dark robe, sat down, and took a sip of tea. "Xichen said you two are returning to Qingcheng tomorrow?"
Gu Anxi hummed in acknowledgment and asked formally, "Does Bo Dad have any tasks for me?"
Bo Nianyao smiled warmly. "There is indeed one thing I would like you to do."
He picked up a Qing Dynasty pen rest from his desk, along with a wolf-hair brush, and carefully wrapped them in oil paper. Looking up at Gu Anxi, he added, "Could you please place this item on my dear brother Yun Tian’s desk?"
Gu Anxi immediately stepped forward to accept it.
Bo Nianyao continued, "We will meet someday."
"Yes," Gu Anxi responded earnestly, facing her elder.
This scene was coincidentally witnessed by Bo Xichen, who had just returned.
His little companion was standing before his father, hands by her side, looking like a well-behaved elementary school student.
This sight was unusually satisfying for him, so he entered with a spring in his step. "What did Father give Anxi that’s made her so happy?"
Bo Nianyao chuckled. "Just an ordinary Qing Dynasty pen rest, nothing compared to the Jade Ruyi you brought back from Qingcheng. Feng Mian told me it was an item once enjoyed by an emperor. By the way, Xichen, why haven’t you brought it out for me to admire?"
Gu Anxi hung her little head even lower.
Bo Xichen, with serene composure, replied to his father, "I’m using it as a paperweight. It’s in the study in the Orchid Room."
The study in the Orchid Room! That’s where those two little rascals are staying, Bo Nianyao thought. It wouldn’t be appropriate, too inconvenient... So he decided against it.
He waved his hand. "Now that you’re back, go and rest. You have to get up early tomorrow to return to Qingcheng."
The Bo Family’s tradition was that they couldn’t arrive after noon; the earlier, the better. So Gu Anxi would have to get up at six o’clock the next morning.
After Bo Nianyao dismissed them, Bo Xichen led Gu Anxi out. He raised an eyebrow. "Where do you want to go play?"
Gu Anxi was taken aback.
He sighed. "We’ve been back in Beicheng for two months, and I’ve been so busy that we haven’t had a chance to go out and explore."
Gu Anxi slipped her hand into his jacket pocket. "Then I want to go to the New Year’s market, the really bustling kind of street market. I’ve heard Beicheng has one."
"Yes, there is one, in the Beicheng District." He pinched her nose. "I’ll indulge you."
