Building My SSS-Rank Universal Empire: From Trash to Cosmic Overlord-Chapter 272: That bastard
But Thrain didnβt understand. What he was looking at was an ordinary sword covered in rust. How could something like that be dangerous? π§πβ―ππππππ°π·π¦π.πΈβ΄π
Even then, he had lived through a lot of battles, and he knew to trust his body. He raised his right hand, and the light from the sun flowed down like thick rain, enveloping him in layers like a second armor.
He breathed a sigh of relief after that, and his eyes narrowed as he watched Vale. "You. Youβve used up all the essence in your core? How? Well, no matter."
Vale watched him, and his hand tightened on the sword. He took a deep breath. "Time to feel my anger."
Thrain sneered. "Enough of this bullshit about revenge and all that. Are you seriously angry about an old wretchβs death? You..."
Vale was done listening to him. With the remaining essence in his body, he took a step and was immediately in front of the man.
Thrainβs eyes widened, and he cursed as he raised a sword of light.
Vale slashed down with his own sword.
Previously, when they started fighting, Vale and Thrainβs swords were evenly matched. They clashed and pushed against each other.
But right then, Valeβs sword cut through Thrainβs as if it wasnβt even there and continued downward. It would have split his head, but Thrain turned into a flash of light and blinked several feet backward.
He stared dumbly at the shattered sword. He could make another one with his light power, but that wasnβt the issue. It was the fact that Vale had cut through his sword with such ease. That was what gave him a chill.
"You..." Thrain stammered.
But Vale was done talking. He had little essence left in his body, so he didnβt move from his place. Instead, he crouched slightly and then slashed.
A sword arc that looked like a rusted chain came out of his sword in a blur almost too fast to catch. Thrain ducked, but he shouldnβt have bothered.
He wasnβt the target.
The sword arc cut into the sun and split it into two!
Of all the things that had been happening, that was what shocked Thrain the most. He watched as the two halves of the sun fell, and his body moved without his instructions.
He leaped away just as the light of the cut sun became unstable, flickering wildly. Even Vale didnβt move as he watched this. He stayed put.
Because with a flash of light, the two halves of the sun exploded!
Yellow fire danced in the air and showered down shockwaves of heat that sent fragments of stone flying. Thrain couldnβt believe his eyes. "What... have you done?"
Vale then turned to her. He leaped forward with the sword raised high but suddenly stopped because something dangerous appeared above him. He felt as if a great monster was swooping down with its claws extended from above.
He switched his target and swung his sword upward instead.
Swish!
Just the act of switching his sword generated enough wind force before his sword arc leaped out.
The pillar of light that had been aimed at him was cut into two instantly, but the two parts still continued to fall like hammers and rammed into the ground beside him, causing an explosion of heat with him trapped inside.
Fire washed over Vale, but unlike his own fire, this one was the scorching heat of light that stabbed into his skin with needle-like brutality.
Vale shouted out in pain. The light was stabbing into his skin! Each needle of light was like a countless forged sword, and his body was the perfect target.
But then something also fell from above. A waterfall cascaded down in a rush of roaring water and washed the light away.
Terrix had interrupted again, and this time, one of his attacks managed to get throughβan attack at the Master Knight level. Vale wouldnβt have minded it if he was at his peak state, but right then, all his essence was almost gone. The only thing that remained was his sword.
Fortunately, Pomora quickly intervened.
Vale didnβt bother with Terrix because there was nothing he could actually do but leave him to Pomora.
But more than that, Vale ignored the pain that was inflicted on his skin and turned to where he last saw Thrain. As expected, he wasnβt there anymore.
In the world of Knights, a second was enough to decide the fate of fighters. It was enough to kill those who hesitated. And in that time that Vale was battling with the light, Terrix had launched his own counterattack.
When Vale looked at the place his brother was before, his essence senses also swept out to check his surroundings, but he felt no sign of the man.
"Where could he be..."
Vale turned, but only the ruined forest stared back at him. Just where?
Suddenly, he heard a cracking sound, and then beneath him, a pair of hands reached out of the ground and grabbed his legs. Before he could react, he was dragged halfway into the ground.
Vale used his left hand as leverage to stop the force from dragging him further. His eyes narrowed, and without care for his own safety, he stabbed the ground in front of him.
Bam!
Dust and ash flew into the air as a large hole suddenly formed where he stabbed. He jumped out of the hole just in time to see Terrix in stone armor disappear into the ground like a tunnel-digging monster.
Vale sighed. His face was as hardened as his heart.
Instead of wasting time chasing him, he lurched himself away from the place and found a tree to stand on. He didnβt relax as his eyes continued to sweep the ground.
He used the time to catch his breath, restrategize, and fill his core with the little bit of essence he could gather.
"This bastard... I didnβt know he still had a lot of essence left to dig around like an animal. Unfortunately, I donβt have any more essence and can only depend on my sword. I would like to pull him into the prison once more..."
