Chapter 36 - Building the wall Part 7

Aric stared at the spells that his system showed him. They were all beginner spells, nothing advanced, and he understood why the system would choose to give him beginner spells.

One had to learn to walk before they could run. If he got the beginner spells and learned them, then he could decide what path he wanted to follow when it came to the advanced spells.

He decided to get all the spells that the system recommended, so he checked the price. He expected that all of them would cost a lot, but to his surprise, they only cost 3,000 gold.

Aric looked at the price. It had been a long while since he had actually checked his gold. He knew that he had far, far more, but he still wanted to see. He also wanted to see his stats and how far he had come.

Aric looked at his stats pile. They were not his own; they had grown so much since the day he got here. He was no longer the same person he was a few days back.

Aric spent the 3,000 gold without much thought and bought the spells. His mind was suddenly filled with information about the spells and what they did.

He immediately tried to use his new spells. He started with Stone Grip. He thought about the spell, and his hands immediately hardened like a rock. He picked up a piece of wood and squeezed it, and it shattered in his hand.

Seeing this made him excited. It actually worked, and he didn't need to learn any spells or anything like that.

He got an idea as he stood there, so he turned to look for Elisa. He saw her seated with Ariel on a log. He walked to her and stretched out his hands.

"Your wounds are not fully healed up. Maybe I can help with that," he said. She was not sure about what he wanted to do, but since it was Aric—the person who saved her and had been feeding her—she had no issues holding his hand.

She extended her hand, and Aric took hold of it. With just a thought, he used the spell Mend Wounds. His hand glowed with a light green light. It spread from his hands and slowly covered her entire body. All the bruises and cuts on her body healed up in a few seconds.

Ariel and Elisa watched in shock. Aric finished healing her wounds and let go of her hand.

"Alright, it works. Thank you," he said and left her hand. Now that he was sure all his spells would work, it was time to get to work.

He left the stunned Ariel and Elisa and walked to the goblins.

"Come with me," he said to the spirits. They all looked at him with a pause.

"I don't have time for your banters. Please just come with me," he said. They all got up and started following him, but that did nothing to stop the banter.

"You should have used 'please' the first time," Pentharis said, and that sentence immediately kicked off the banter.

"Why should he ask us nicely? He is our master," Unara said.

"Suck up," Deca said casually.

"Don't you dare call her a suck-up!" Septa yelled at Deca, and as usual, the argument continued, both sides against each other.

Aric sighed in exhaustion. He didn't know how long he would be able to take their constant quarrels, or maybe he would simply get used to it.

He led them to where the goblins were all seated on the ground. Immediately they saw Aric, they all got up, with Ron, Lucas, and Gunam in front. They all bowed to Aric.

"It's fine, raise your heads," Aric said, and they raised their heads.

"Ron, Lucas, Gunam, come over to my side," he said, and they did that.

"Now, listen up, everyone. I want to make some things clear before we get to work today. You see, we have grown quite a bit in a few days, and as such, we need a structure. It might not be anything too serious, but you all have to follow it.

"Firstly, there is one person who is immediately under me, and her words are as good as mine, and that is Ariel. You are to obey her and not give her issues.

"This particular instruction is going to the spirits most importantly. Please do not allow your banter and constant quarrels to stress her.

"And more specifically to Pentharis, don't spark up any quarrels that will stress her. She might not have the patience I have," Aric said.

"When you change my name, I'll start doing what you want," Pentharis said.

"Your name stays, and you will do what I want, or I'll have Unara and the rest beat you up," Aric said as a threat.

Pentharis didn't say another word after that. He just looked the other way and pouted.

"Now, after her, the spirits are in charge, with Unara as the leader. The goblins have to listen to them unless they give you a ridiculous order. Then you can come to me to confirm.

"To the hobgoblins, if you work hard enough, your status will become like that of the spirits, but you have to put in a lot of effort.

"And finally, for the goblins, now I could give you names, but sadly, that free naming session has passed. Inasmuch as your hobgoblin state will give me more manpower, I want to be sure that you deserve the evolution.

"I could force you to work since you are my tamed beasts, but no, I want to see your effort. You all have seven days, and in seven days, anyone who doesn't meet my standard will remain a goblin. Now let's finish that wall."
