Bride To His Darkness-Chapter 327: Will You Help Me?
Chapter 327: Will You Help Me?
Alain’s eyes secretly glinted with a flame that came from the sconces, further accentuating the hope that glimmered within upon hearing his Mother’s voice.
"Alain, my child, where are you?" Came the voice of his Mother, and it was veiled with an unfamiliar affection that didn’t quite fit how his Mother would call him on a normal day. He wasn’t the type who always hesitated when it came to his Mother, afterall he wanted nothing more than to be with his parents again, but for some reason his little mind failed to fathom, he couldn’t bring himself to run to the call of his Mother.
"Alain?"
Slowly, Alain rose to his feet and stole a peek from the corner where he hid, his head popping out as he stole a quick glance at the unfamiliar hallway. His pupils dilated at the sight of his Mother, and she was heading in the opposite direction, her back facing him.
"Mama’s here?" He whispered dubiously to himself.
"Alain, you don’t have to be afraid anymore, mommy’s here to keep you safe. Are you going to ignore your Mother’s call?" The voice of his Mother continued to toy with his head, but Alain couldn’t bring himself to speak or run.
When the familiar figure took a turn, disappearing into the corner, Alain quietly stepped out and ran in the other direction.
A part of his senses told him to run away, as if it perceived that it wasn’t his Mother who was calling him. There was a strange glint in his eyes as he ran, and his Amber-brown eyes mysteriously shimmered into a rich copper-brown hue– reminiscent of burnished autumn leaves in soft sunlight.

"What the hell are you doing??" Alistair’s eyes snapped, his irises taking the color of a molten lava at the brink of erupting. He struggled to free his hand from the chains he had been restricted to, but no matter how hard he pulled, it was nearly impossible to free his locked wrist from the silver cuffs.
"I don’t have time for this, you two know the plan, right?" Ivan made sure to confirm that both Duncan and Caddel are aware of what they had to do. Their affirmative nod gave him the reassurance he needed, but before he could step out of the vault, Alistair was quick to say.
"You don’t understand what’s happening out there! Listen to me! I did what I did to save you, don’t you get it? You’d be a dead man if you had to face Samantha all by yourself that night so I had to do something to stall time! Marius knows your weakness is her, and he’s trying to use her to get to you! She’ll kill you if you go out there! Duncan, tell him not to step out of here! He needs to listen to what I have to say first or else–!!"
"You literally brought me into their DEN as a captive, how is that saving me?" Ivan queried his cousin, interjecting his explanation to him, and a heavy silence ensued within the vault. "If you fucking knew he wanted to use my wife against me, then why didn’t you save her instead?! If you knew... you know what? Forget trying to make me understand why you did what you did cause in the end, they’re all bullshit to me! But I’ll save you from the stress of having to explain further, we have Duncan here to tap into that mind of yours and see what you’re hiding."
"I will go on my knees and beg you not to fight it. All you have to do is grant me entrance to your memories without saying a word." Duncan softly instructed as he approached the misunderstood Alistair, "your one mistake was keeping your burdens to yourself, you were under his influence but you told no one about it, now let me help you heal."
"No wait, Ivan needs to listen to me first! He needs to hear me out first! Ivan!"
The sound of the vault closing was enough to convey Ivan’s exit, and Alistair gritted his teeth at the thought of not being able to stop him. It wasn’t his intention to stay silent from the beginning, but it was also his fault as he never once tried to speak up. That was because he never knew the situation would get this critical.
He was careless for ignoring something so dire, and he was paying for it.
He knew his approach was wrong, he knew he should have helped Samantha from the start but how was he supposed to do that when he can’t even fight against the effect of the gem Marius had sealed into his heart? He hadn’t realized how much he needed to step up until his encounter with Marius in the forest, and he knew that if he wanted to save his cousin and his wife, he’d have to do the unthinkable.
If Ivan could just spare him a minute to explain everything, he’d understand, but at the same time, his anger was justified, and he wasn’t going to ask for second chances. All he wants is a moment to explain everything because he might not get the chance to explain himself later.
"You..." Duncan’s hesitant voice brought Alistair’s thoughts back to the situation at hand, and he could see the look of apprehension reflecting in Duncan’s ruby-red eyes. It was only when he felt the cool sensation of Duncan’s finger leaving his forehead that he instantly grasped what the vampire just did.
"Did you... hey that was dangerous!" Alistair complained.
"No." Duncan shook his head, and he took a step back from the vampire. "I’ve always known you were insane and sometimes gullible but I can’t allow you to fulfill that thought in your head right now. It’s too risky! What made you think of something like that?"
"It’s the only way." Alistair’s head hung low, his voice resolute, as if letting Duncan know his decision couldn’t be changed. "That is the only way to get out of here, and it will stall enough time to make a good comeback at Marius! I can’t be helped, I’m far gone and you know it, so allow me to use the wild side I can to save my family. Now the decision is yours to make, will you help me or not?"
"How do you expect me to–"
"Will. You. Help. Me?" He met Duncan’s gaze with a glare, but then it softened into a plea.
"You’re serious."
"I’ve always wondered why I couldn’t be treated as a normal vampire, why I was forced to wear these chains and bear the burden of my own sins, but this must be the reason why." A slight smile curved his lips at the acceptance of his destiny, it was the type that reached his eyes, and then he stood straight.
"Release me from these chains Duncan, and let me do what I know how to do best." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"Which is?"
"Blood.." his fangs peered out, "lust."
