Chapter 92: He Came?

A sneer could be seen on his attractive looking lips.

"And which one of them will you go to?" He suddenly grounded out taking a step towards her.

In the moment of uncertainty, unsure if his temper was about to explode or not, Anne took a step back. It always seemed to happen instinctively, he had a tlen of intimidating people and making them feel like running away from his presence.

Whenever his displeasure was directed at her, which seemed to happen very often, it would take a lot of effort to ground herself in his presence. She’d never met anyone with an aura like his but it was no longer a surprise.

What had she said to make him look annoyed all of a sudden?

He glanced down at the sudden distance between them, the displeasure evidently heightening over his features as he raised his eyes to hers asking again.

"Which one of them will you ask for help?"

She suddenly got the idea that he was against her asking his brothers for help.

Anne couldn’t understand him. He wasn’t willing to help her, which was not surprising at all. Why should he?

The man seemed to act with reasons and if he had no reason to help her, he wouldn’t.

Though she came here upon Clara’s encouragement, Anne had been ninety five percent sure she would be getting a no from him. That was why she hadn’t tried harder and the idea to ask any other one of the brothers struck her.

In all honesty, since Anne had been put in charge of the project, she also hoped he wouldn’t have anything to do with it because it would literally be difficult to work with him.

So despite the fact that she needed him because Valeria insisted on it, she didn’t actually want him there.

She would constantly tip toe around him because she would be afraid of offending him. It would be like walking on eggshells and trying not to let him hear them crack. What good was working like that?

To reply to his question and get his burning gaze off her, Anne spoke,

"Maybe...Don or...if Valeria wants, Mr Gabriel." She also wasn’t sure if Valeria would agree. But she was sure if she asked Don, he wouldn’t refuse her, he was the most reasonable and easygoing among the three brothers.

"And what makes you so sure they’ll agree?" He suddenly queried making her frown.

Because they aren’t as uppity and arrogantly domineering as you. Anne was tempted to say it out loud to him but kept that to herself.

"Donald...is friendly, and he helped me the last time too." She muttered instead.

His eyes narrowed subtly. The air that touched her skin turned even colder.

"And Gabriel, you think he’s friendly too?" His voice had lowered significantly as he asked this question, something rigid in the way the bus was uttered.

Anne thought for a bit, "He is a bit flirtatious, but he seems like a nice guy, I’m not very confident he’ll say yes, but I’m about seventy percent confident he’ll have no problem with it."

If Andrew Sterling was a crazy storm, Gabriel Sterling was a modern day version of in incubus, but somehow he seemed friendly, as for Donald he was the most innocent and sweetest little youth, whenever she saw him she’d always remember a puppy.

If it had been up to her to choose which one of them to work with, it was evident which one of them she would have chosen to go with.

He stepped towards her some more and Anne craned her neck feeling the urge to shrink away.

"How confident were you before coming to me?"

"Huh?" She was a bit stunned by that question.

"What was the probable percentage that I would say yes?"

Anne bit her lip for a second, hesitating briefly before saying, "Less than five percent."

She didn’t know why she seemed to sense that he became more annoyed.

"I see." He muttered with a challenge in his eyes as he leaned towards her.

"So if my brother Gabriel is nice, and you think Donald is friendly, what am I?"

Anne sealed her lips shut refusing to speak.

Should she lie to him or just keep the truth to herself?

"Speak freely, I won’t hold it against you." He suddenly said.

Her gaze turned doubtful.

Would he really not blow his top? Could she really speak freely?

Seeing the seriousness in his eyes, Anne decided to speak the truth.

He wouldn’t agree to deal with Valeria directly anyway, nor did he have any excuse to punish her this time.

She had nothing to be afraid of. If she sensed a threat in the air she would flee immediately.

It was high time someone told him a raw truth of what he truly was.

"You... are a ticking time bomb." Anne said with certainty,

"You walk around looking at everyone as if they owed you a thousand bucks...no, more like ten thousand. Whenever you enter a room, it feels like all the air has been sucked away. Whenever I look at you I think only of one thing... a walking, talking tornado. You belittle everyone and view yourself like a monarch forgetting that people actually have feelings. Who acts like that? You..."

It was only at that moment that Anne realized the air had chilled so terribly, goosebumps rose on her skin. She swallowed nervously seeing the darkness in his eyes, subconsciously she began to step back slightly.

If this wasn’t a threat she could see in his eyes, she didn’t know what was.

Was this the part she flees for her life now?

She expected a fiery storm, instead what came after that gaze that reminded her of a raging volcano what came after was a calm voice as he said,

"So you think so badly of me?" His voice sounded more of disappointment than rage but Anne couldn’t hear it, she was so frightened by his expression that she didn’t dare stay there for a minute longer.

"Forget I said anything." She dropped those words and rushed to the elevator, it was best to flee before he’d change his mind and get mad at her.

She didn’t even turn to look at him as she waited a few seconds before the elevator arrived, dashing in she instantly disappeared only after she was sure she was nowhere in his sight did she breathe a sigh of relief.

She has truly dodged that fatal bullet.

.....

Starlight modelling agency.

Anne was directed by a staff to Valeria’s personal lounge area, as one of the company’s top models she was given the highest level of special treatment.

Valeria was sitting on a red palm shaped couch when Anne entered, the model had her head rested back while her elegant feet were placed upon her personal assistant’s lap as the latter kneaded her foot in a massage.

Anne was surprised to see a different face from the PA she’d met the last time she was here. Which was literally just yesterday.

"Miss Sage." Anne greeted with a respectful nod.

Valeria lazily opened her eyes, upon seeing Anne, she straightened up, her flawless face twisting up in a pleasant smile.

"You came back." She remarked.

"We have the contract fully drafted..." Anne began flipping open the contract file she was holding, "I’d like to remind you that S.E is a company every model would dream of working with. Our policy doesn’t permit close working relationships with unrelated staff, so I apologize, Mr Andrew Sterling won’t be working directly with you."

Hearing that, displeasure appeared on Valeria’s face and she leaned back in her seat again.

"So what the hell are you doing here? I already told you, no Andrew Sterling, no contract with me. I don’t care if S.E will make it rain upon my command, I still won’t be signing with you."

Anne maintained her stance confidently.

"I thought you’d say that, so I prepared an offer for you."

Valeria rolled her eyes, "Whatever offer you have, save it if Andrew Sterling won’t work with me."

"What if I told you that..." Anne had started talking when an uproar sounded from behind, the door to Valeria’s lounge was opened and a high pitched noise that sounded like females screaming came from behind.

Anne saw Valeria’s eyes widen as she looked somewhere behind her making Anne wonder who had come into the room for her to look so astonished.

Just as Anne was about to tilt her head back to look, she heard a familiar masculine voice that flowed with an abundant coldness that could seep into someone’s skin.

"S.E is the very best, so we only work with the best. You have one chance to prove you’re the very best we can find in this industry, otherwise you’re out."

Anne gazed sideways at the tall, domineering figure that was now standing next to her. His sculpted profile as rigid as every other part of him. He spoke with a confidence that filled the room, making even the air itself flow with a sense of honor at his presence.

Was she dreaming?

This giant tornado actually came?!
