Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 91: Need.
"Director Sterling isn’t in right now, he’s at the chairman’s office." Cynthia informed.
"Alright, thank you." Anne said with a sigh and turned to leave.
She was somewhat relieved that he wasn’t in his office right now.
How was she supposed to convince him?
When she’d spoken to Clara, the latter had said.
"We have to get Valeria, no other model will boost the reach of this project more than Valeria, she has the highest number of fans all over the world, it has to be her!" Clara insisted.
"But, I doubt director Sterling would agree to..."
"Anne, you have to convince him." Clara had cut her off. "One way or the other, you have to. Team B might take this chance from us if we don’t go for the win this time, you know I’ve been working towards that for the longest time right?"
Clara took Anne’s hands in hers, "I’m trusting you with this Anne, you have to get Andrew to agree."
Anne had suggested Clara speak to Andrew herself since she seemed quite familiar with him, but she said she wasn’t close enough with him and it was up to Anne to convince him to agree to represent the company in working with the model.
However, a task like that was solely reliant on the PR department, asking someone with Andrew’s status to work with a model was ridiculous. It was almost just asking him for a favor outside his own work to do something beneath him.
Anne was extremely nervous to even talk to him about it. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
On her way to the elevator, she felt an uncontrollable bout of dizziness that made her sway, her vision clouded darkly she almost lost her footing but a hand appeared out of nowhere to steady her.
Those hands holding her were like a powerful anchor making sure she didn’t fall.
"Are you okay?"
The voice that asked this was deep and familiar, but Anne hadn’t been able to steady herself yet so she didn’t register who it was mentally.
Regardless she nodded lightly.
"What’s wrong, are you sick?" The voice queried again.
Her vision began to clear slightly and she was finally able to see the person in front of her.
Her gaze trailed up the broad shoulders to the thick masculine neck up the chiseled jaw to the man’s perfectly arranged features and thick dark brows that drew together tightly in a frown.
"Answer me damnit, are you sick?"
Those deep dark eyes searched hers looking for an answer with an impatient expression.
It was him, the giant tornado!
His dark eyes were like dormant storms waiting to be riled up.
Anne quietly stepped back from his hold, composing herself after clearing her throat.
"No, I’m fine. I was just a little...dazed." As she gave this reply, something contemplative seemed to settle on his features.
He looked like he wanted to say something but suddenly changed his mind and began to walk past her.
Anne panicked momentarily and grabbed his sleeve before he could walk away.
He glanced at her sideways, first at her hand then up to her face.
Anne instantly realized what she’d done and let go.
"I..." Anne couldn’t say anything. She hadn’t practiced how to ask him yet, what should she say?
How should she even start?
"You want something?" He suddenly asked, eyes searching hers again seemingly noticing how she was hesitating to speak.
Anne bit her lips and nodded.
"What is it?" He urged.
She parted her mouth to say something but struggled with the exact words to say.
"If you need to say something to me go ahead, otherwise stop wasting my time." His voice came out hard but it somewhat lacked the strictness it would usually have.
"I need your help." She quickly blurted out, looking into his eyes she seemed to realize she’d said the wrong thing so she quickly changed her words, "I mean Clara needs your help."
She said noticing how his frown deepened and then added.
"The whole public relations needs your help."
Flustered and feeling the need to explain yet she couldn’t calm her nerves because she was scared he would explode at any moment now, she began to ramble uncontrollably.
"Not the whole department, just team A, we need to secure this task and if we fail then we’ll be pushed back and team B will keep taking credit but then I know that doesn’t matter to you but I’m just hoping, no...not hoping, it’s a debt, take it as a debt, and when we complete this project then I won’t ask anything of you again, I won’t even show my face to you again and..."
He suddenly raised a hand up to stop her ongoing barrage of talking nonstop. The frown on his face had eased and If one looked closely, a small smile could be seen hidden in the corner of his eyes.
What the hell was she going on about?
He didn’t understand a thing of what she’d said just now, he’d only heard something about a debt which amused him.
This little rebel, she had no idea how much she owed him now. Whether as the masked person or as his real self, she seemed to always come to him.
The thought itself pleased him more than he would like to admit.
So she was here because she needed his help again.
Need...
That very word made something unbelievably sweet thrill through his chest.
Noticing her eyes which had gone wide after he’d halted her disoriented speech, he spoke calmly.
"What are you talking about? Explain it to me calmly, I don’t have much time."
The calm composure with which he just spoke seemed to scare her even more, she didn’t speak again, instead her eyes darted thoughtfully.
"I don’t want to waste your time but, we’re supposed to recruit the best model in the country before the launch of S.E’s new project and there were a few options but Clara settled on one based on her popularity but...she made some demands and..."
"Then give her what she wants, S.E isn’t lacking anything. We are the best so we only get the best, if this model is the best there Is in the market then it has to be her." He said in a strictly composed manner.
"Yes but... She wants..." Anne knew hesitating wouldn’t solve anything so she quickly blurted, "She wants to work directly with you."
When Anne peeked up to look at his face, his expression had darkened as she expected.
"Work with me?" His tone had gotten darker making Anne feel the urge to take a step back. She could tell he wasn’t pleased at all, nor did he seem to be considering the possibility of saying yes.
Before Anne could say anything else he began to walk away decisively.
"Find another model, I don’t have enough time to spare."
Anne hurriedly followed him, "Please, it won’t take too much of your time."
She called after him trailing behind him with hurried steps as his long strides gave him the advantage of putting distance between them.
At first she was sure he wouldn’t agree, but when she started talking to him she thought she saw a hint of amusement in his eyes making her assume he might actually agree but she was wrong, this giant tornado wasn’t that easy to convince.
Anne began to think rapidly for a solution when something seemed to suddenly occur to her as her eyes lightened. "What if...she agrees to work with another one of the Sterling brothers?" She thought aloud seeing a trace of hope as she suddenly stopped following the man.
If Valeria couldn’t get Andrew, which Anne was already sure his mind was made up and no one could convince him about it, perhaps she would possibly agree to work with Gabriel or Donald right?
As Anne stood thinking about this, she suddenly felt a shadow looming over her. When she raised her head, Andrew Sterling who she thought had walked away was standing in front of her.
"What did you just say?"
In a slight daze, Anne replied subconsciously.
"That...she might agree to work with one of your brothers if not you."
His face suddenly turned darker than the darkest night.
