Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 209: Where Is He?
By the time Anne managed to return to the Black Thorn Manor, it was around dusk, the skies were painted in the haunting beauty of a purple and pink sunset, if one looked up, they would see streaks of soft layers of magenta behind the clouds fading into deep blue as night began to fall.
The manor was a gigantic dark outline with such a beautiful sky in it’s backdrop. Several high end cars could be seen parked in a straight line inside the Manor’s expansive parking space.
It had been awfully difficult for Anne to shake off the man from Sapphire Beauty off her back earlier,
’At least tell me you’ll consider my offer and I’ll leave you alone.’ after her constantly rejecting his offer for a modelling job and to give her a ride, he had said this in resignation but made it evident he wouldn’t leave her alone If he didn’t hear what he wanted to hear from her.
Anne had adamantly refused to hitch a ride with the man regardless of how much she was in a hurry. Realizing he wouldn’t be able to use her helplessness to make her ride with him, he ended up leaving her alone and luckily she eventually found a cab after waiting for a long time.
As she was about to walk up the entrance, coincidentally at that moment, several men in official attires were leaving the manor. It was no surprise there were several cars parked within the manor when she returned.
Andrew had guests before she came back.
In order not to arouse suspicions, Anne quickly hid herself behind a pillar to stay out of sight from the men.
Not even his business partners knew that Andrew was currently married, so she didn’t want to make things difficult for him by leaving hints that would make people suspicious.
Staring at the backs of everyone exiting the manor from her hiding place, Anne noticed Andrew come out behind them last.
"Rest assured, we are firmly behind you. You have all our support at the board vote." One of the men who had a stylized gray streak on his black beard said assuringly to Andrew and the other middle aged men voiced their support as well.
Andrew nodded, his expression looked quite welcoming.
"I’ll be looking forward to our further collaboration then."
All the men enthusiastically shook hands with him before they all respectfully entered their cars.
Anne remained hidden behind the pillar as all the cars slowly drove out of the Manor’s steel gates.
Andrew stood outside till the cars drove away, he was wearing a black oversized sweatshirt that showed a hidden hint of the masculine sculpted physique beneath through the long sleeves that were pulled up to his forearms, the exposed parts of his arms thick with a manly power and veins that ran the length to his hands.
From behind, he looked like a sturdy wall.
Anne came out of her hiding spot, at the same time he dug his hand into his pockets and pulled out his phone, he remained in the same position staring down at the screen of his phone for a long time.
She walked up to him, her steps clear enough that he should have been alerted that someone was behind him, however he didn’t turn around to acknowledge her presence.
She had been in a hurry to see him after leaving the hospital.
"Why did you have my brother moved from the hospital without my permission?"
She saw how his muscular back stiffened upon hearing her voice.
’...the person who moved Kristen from this hospital was Andrew Sterling. Apart from the fact that he assured us he was a relative, he also gave us access to where Kristen will be. Believe me Miss Thompson, we’ve done more than anything to make sure your brother stays alive, and there are only a few people in our field who have the reputation of reviving people from the jaws of death itself. Mr Sterling took Kristen to Doctor Erhart, the best neurologist in the whole world. Even doctor Shawn Reynolds had once been doctor Erhart’s apprentice. Scheduling time with doctor Erhart is next to impossible, he has retired from the medical field and is no longer taking patients, but Mr Sterling has managed to get him to take on Kristen’s condition. We are medical practicers, what we want more than anything is for our patients to recover, with doctor Erhart, Kristen could regain full brain function, your brother could really wake up soon!’
Anne recalled the doctor’s words, and after hearing that Andrew had been the one to move Kristen, she hadn’t known how to feel, all she knew was that she wanted to see her brother. Andrew’s intentions might be good, however she had every right to know before he would have decided to take such a step.
Even after hearing her question, he remained still in his spot with his back turned to her direction, head down to stare at his phone as if her words had just passed through his ears. That was when the anger kicked in,
"Why aren’t you saying anything, where is Kristen?"
This time, he slowly tilted his head looking at her over his shoulder before slowly turning around in her direction.
A cold smile slowly graced his elegant lips, and Anne suddenly felt her heart drop at the sight of a look so dark in his eyes when merely a few hours ago, she had felt his warmth.
Without saying anything to reply to her question, he slowly reached forward, hooked his fingers around her wrist slowly and began to walk in long strides into the manor inevitably pulling her along.
Her brows furrowed in confusion at his actions.
"What are you doing? You’re not answering my question. Where Is my brother? Did something happen to him? Please tell me nothing happened to him." A myriad of questions rushed through her mind and she blurted everything out, her voice trembling and her heart began to race in fear. The look in his eyes a while ago had indicated anger but it was the least she cared about at this moment when she didn’t know where Kristen was.
He took her to the living room, dropping her wrist which was previously in his grip as he moved towards the large tv sitting on a sleek dark metallic panel against the wall. He switched it on and brought out his phone. Anne watched his actions with confusion in her eyes until all of a sudden, an image showed on the tv screen.
As Anne saw that image, her eyes widened.
