Chapter 208: Explodes First, Thinks Later

"Miss Thompson, someone had Kristen moved from this hospital, we didn’t approve of it at first but that person was a relative."

The doctor’s words replayed in Anne’s mind as she ran along the roads outside the hospital trying to flag down a cab, after a while, one cab stopped in front of her but someone else from behind jumped in before she could reach.

"It’s mine!" The rude person remarked pushing her aside and entering the cab.

Confused, Anne began to run around unable to stay still as long as she could quickly catch a cab, however it felt like luck wasn’t on her side on this day, no cabs stopped, whooshing by even as she repeatedly tried to flag them down.

In her frenzy, she didn’t notice a crisp white Range Rover stopping right in the parking spot close by.

A good looking man alighted the car, walking In her direction but she remained oblivious to the stranger’s approach.

"Miss Annelise Thompson?"

She stiffened upon hearing a strange voice call her name, whirling to meet an unfamiliar man.

The man held a calm expression, yet there was something quietly compelling about him. He was dressed in a dark charcoal gray shirt, the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, paired with fitted jeans showing a clear yet sophisticated sense of style.

Anne’s gaze was questioning.

"I’m sorry, do I know you?" In all honesty she was in a hurry and didn’t have time to talk, but the person had called her name and she suddenly felt a strange feeling of impending doom, especially when she didn’t know where Kristen was at the moment.

The man extended his hand to her with a warm introductory smile, "Nathan Foxx, CEO of Sapphire Beauty." He introduced himself.

Upon hearing the mention of his company, Anne suddenly remembered a time when an employee from the same company had approached her for an offer.

"Miss Thompson, I’d like to personally invite you to our company for a..."

"I’m sorry Mr Foxx, I already told the staff from your company that I won’t be doing a collaboration with you. I’m not a professional model, I merely appeared in an ad for the company I work for." After Anne gave the man her reply, she hurriedly faced the road again flagging down another cab driving by but it didn’t stop, frustration was mounting in her and it was a miracle she didn’t blow up in rage at the man suddenly coming up to distract her.

"It doesn’t matter to our company if you’re a professional model or not, what we’re looking for is someone exactly like you. This offer will bring you a lot of benefits, and if you wish to ask for anything you’re free to make changes to our modelling contract terms."

Anne ignored the man, it wasn’t known whether she heard him or not but her focus was on the road.

Noticing this, the man seemed to change his approach as he said conversationally,

"There is a big event happening today in this area, you won’t be able to get any cabs around here today, if you need a ride I can drop you."

Anne stiffened for a minute at the man’s offer as if actually considering it for a moment, however she didn’t let her desperation allow her to ignore the dangers of riding with a complete stranger so she politely rejected,

"No, thanks. I’ll call for a cab."

If she couldn’t get a cab off the road, she would get one from an app. However after scrolling through the app, there were no available cabs for that area.

Nathan Foxx studied the young woman and noticed how desperately she seemed to be in a hurry, he definitely shouldn’t let this chance pass.

The more he looked at her in person, the more fascinated he was about her. She indeed fit his ideal image of their brand, and because of her, he had repeatedly delayed the launch of his new products.

Nathan Foxx was a very persistent businessman, his level of determination was what got him where he was today and despite the fact that the board of directors were beginning to nag him by the neck for delaying the launch just because of a model, he still wouldn’t go back on his decision. And seeing Anne right in front of him at this moment, he knew she was worth it.

She was the kind of girl people would look at twice and even more, they would look once for her quiet beauty, and the second time for the quiet elegance to her, and for the next couple of times out of sheer fascination. She was the kind of woman who seemed to have a lot of bruises from the world, yet chose to carry it with a quiet grace.

Her hair, soft chestnut waves framed her oval shaped face brushing against her shoulders with an effortlessly elegance. Her warm brown eyes carried the kind of gentleness that disarmed, the kind that intrigued. There was an unspoken intelligence behind her gaze that seemed to wrap him in, making him want to know more about her.

That subtle, quiet beauty was exactly his brand.

The brand Sapphire Beauty had started from the image of his dream woman, several models had been the face of the brand but none of them had truly embodied the full image he had in his mind.

He definitely had to get this woman, it was the very reason he was persistently looking for her all along.

"You won’t find a cab coming anywhere around here for now, there’s a bus station a little distance away from here but you will..."

Immediately he pointed towards the bus station, she brushed past him and hurried in that direction.

Anne had been to the hospital many times, but she had never encountered this type of situation before where she didn’t find a cab so she hurried towards the bus station, however she didn’t expect to suddenly be stopped by the persistent man who was repeatedly talking to her, but what stunned her wasn’t the fact that he stopped her yet again, but because he had gone far enough to grab her hand.

"Wait, you didn’t hear everything I was going to say. There indeed is a bus station nearby, but it’s currently not working..."

Her eyes sharpened in a quiet glare at the man as she began to twist her wrist out of his grip. The man, not wanting to cross any boundaries immediately let her go upon seeing her protest, but that single moment of him grabbing her hand stayed fixed on the screen of someone’s phone in a car driving past on the road.

This person looked at the image for quite a while, pleased that he had by chance come across something so juicy unexpectedly. Traffic had made his driver stop, but unexpectedly he saw his brother’s wife on the side of the road with a man talking to her and when she made to walk away, the man grabbed her hand, it was that very moment he’d taken a picture of the scene.

Gabriel didn’t expect to see his brother’s wife randomly on the side of the road holding hands with another man, she had once called him a terrible brother, well he would prove to her that he had his brother’s back.

Gabriel smirked down at the picture on his phone, opening a messaging app and immediately forwarded the image to Andrew’s contact.

"I wonder if Andrew sees this, what will he do? His anger is like a cannon blast, he explodes first and thinks later. If his anger shows up, he will be nothing but a monster to her, and maybe then she’ll see that my brother can never be the saint of a man she thinks she can change him into." He mumble to himself, a pleased smile raising his lips as his driver passed the traffic that had stopped him on that side of the road.
