Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 189: Carved Her Name On His Heart
Of all the times Shawn could call, it had to be at this specific moment.
"Wait, what?" Shawn’s mildly laughing voice came through next. "Your wife?"
"Did I stutter?"
"No, but it sure is refreshing to see you like this. I won’t keep you for too long, so go enjoy peaceful time with your wife."
Andrew could only swallow his frustration no longer feeling the need to make Shawn accountable for Anne walking away, maybe she really was tired and he didn’t want to keep her from getting her needed rest, he knew what that felt like and he’d absolutely hate to subject her to that.
"By the way, my clinic is making it’s official opening in a few days, bring her over to register for an official membership, though I’ll have a lot of staff, I’ll be personally monitoring her pregnancy till she gives birth."
"Since when did you decide to stay here in Verizon? You decided to open an official clinic? Aren’t you a little too skilled to reduce yourself to a clinic? If I remember correctly there are multiple international medical facilities seeking your expertise."
"Well it’s not an ordinary clinic, it’s a top notch exclusive medical center, with my name on it the whole city will be swarming to get an appointment, so it’s on par with whatever international facility I’ve refused to work it. But if you must know, I have a very solid reason to want to remain in this city now."
"And that reason is...?"
As Shawn heard Andrew’s question, he smiled mysteriously to himself.
"Go enjoy some alone time with your wife, but take care not to reopen your wound."
After he hung up, Shawn found himself thinking back to the one word Andrew had said.
Wife.
He glanced down at his empty ring finger, and a feeling of envy suddenly overcame him.
He smiled to himself, the gesture holding a bitter feeling.
He never thought he would someday be envious of Andrew’s romantic life when the latter had completely had not a single ounce of romance in his life before.
He was happy for Andrew, the feeling of love was something everyone should get to experience, at the same time he was sad...sad for what he had lost.
The shirt he wore was slightly open at the chest, on the left side was a dark tattoo of a flower surrounded by stars. The flower had beautiful long, narrow petals. A jasmine.
Shawn touched his hand lightly tracing the jasmine tattoo on his chest.
He had her name carved onto his heart, at the time he’d thought, if he never saw her again, if she never became his again, his love for her would never diminish. Though they would never be connected again, though they would have no relationship, he carved her name in his heart so her name would forever beat with the rhythm of his heart, and for this sole reason, his love for her would never ever disappear when she was so close to his heart.
When she walked out of his life he became a lonely wanderer, wondering where to go when his love no longer existed in his life. At that time he’d thought his breath may come to a stop, but this burning emotion in his heart wouldn’t die.
This pain...this love. Because her name was carved upon his heart and for as long as he lived, for as long as his heart would continue beating, he would never forget that she was his breath, she was his life, she was his everything.
...
The next morning, Andrew came out of his room dressed for work. He walked over to the door of the room opposite his own and knocked on the door then waited patiently but he got no reply, he then proceeded to knock once more but nothing came.
Was she still sleeping?
As he thought of this, his hand which was about to knock again halted, he didn’t want to disturb her sleep.
Andrew glanced down at his wrist watch, it was around eight thirty in the morning. Though he wanted to drive to work with her if she was resting he wouldn’t disturb her, at most he’d wait for her for a while.
It was at this moment, a maid carrying a neatly folded pile of clothes came towards the room, seeing Andrew she stopped short and lowered her head offering a greeting.
Noticing how Andrew seemed to be standing outside the bedroom door, the maid was shocked.
A while ago the mistress had just left for work but at that time, the master had yet to come out of his room, was he waiting for her right now? 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Thinking about this, the maid informed, "Mistress already left for work a while ago."
His brows met in a frown.
"When?" He asked.
"Just a while ago."
The maid could sense his displeasure, she shivered slightly as his aura became somewhat overwhelming. She only relaxed when the man walked past her.
The car zoomed into the company’s underground parking lot and stopped abruptly. The driver jumped out of the car, about to circle to the back to open the door for his boss, but the door was already pushed open and Andrew stepped down walking straight to the elevator with long strides.
The driver couldn’t help but sigh in relief, throughout the drive he’d been feeling uneasy around the man’s displeasure which was evident even in the air anyone breathed around him.
The only words he’d said to the driver were, "Drive faster."
And the driver had complied, only heavens knew why he was in such a hurry.
Anne was currently inside the team A office discussing the company’s upcoming campaign when someone suddenly exclaimed.
"It’s director Sterling!"
"Oh my gosh! What is director Sterling doing here?"
Anne quickly raised her head to the handsome man with a stoic face taking long strides in her direction. His mere presence in the whole space made it all feel cramped, he moved with an effortlessly masculine grace, with the certainty and confidence of a man used to dominating anything and everything around him.
He only stopped when he was right in front of her, with all the team A employees still around her.
"From now on, you drive to work with me. Never leave without my knowledge again." He said these words without caring how stunned all the employees looked.
