Bought For A Baby, Kept For A Lifetime-Chapter 186: Black Hearted Father
A man and a woman strolled into the Black Thorn Manor. The man had the powerful aura known to be a trait of the Sterling family.
Michael Sterling, with his arm around his wife’s waist glanced around his own son’s home.
"Andrew." He exclaimed with a broad smile, "I didn’t know you had such a nice looking home of your own, but why live outside when the Sterling estate has always been the family home?"
Andrew didn’t even bother with pleasantry as his eyes hardened at the sight of the couple. "What are you doing here?" His voice was harsh and detached as he spoke, a gritting tone lurking beneath.
"Come on son, can’t I visit my own son’s home? Look, I even bought gifts for you and my daughter in law." Michael gestured to a row of the Sterling family staff who walked in a composed line each holding gift boxes.
"Father might have tried to out me from your wedding but I still know my responsibilities as your father." He added.
At that statement, Andrew’s hard brow shot up.
"Responsibility? Are you even in the position to mention that word?"
Andrew hadn’t spoken to his father in years and it was a choice he’d taken ever since the day the man gave him away.
’... you can have one of them, I have two other sons anyway.’
Those words were a dark memory that plagued his mind for years and he would never forget.
This man who just walked into his home trying to play ’father’ had not a single warm feeling in his heart towards Andrew.
"My son, a lot has happened between us in the past, and I know you’re still upset with me for it, but let bygones be bygones. Haven’t you missed having a father all these years?"
Andrew was trying to control his rage, but it was taking every ounce of self control within him to do so.
There was no patience inside him left for this man, that had already run out years ago, but regardless of the man’s past actions, Andrew didn’t want to be aggressive to the man as a form of respect not for his father but his grandfather, in this world if there was anyone Andrew would never disrespect it was his grandfather, the only person that had been there when everyone else left.
He had so many words he wanted to say to this man, but he swallowed them down. Clenching his fists tightly by his side.
"Your stepmom and I invited ourselves to dinner at your place. Why not we take this conversation inside while sitting huh?" Michael Sterling suggested internally feeling pleased with himself.
In this world, blood could never be denied.
Yes he’d never been there for any of his sons, and quite frankly right now if he were given the option to turn back the hands of time he would still make the same choices, because his choices had led him to live a happy and fulfilled life for himself.
He came back, not exclusively to fix things with his children but to fulfill his new ambitions. He was a Sterling by blood, and when his father passed, the Sterling Enterprises would go to him first before eventually going to any of his sons.
The fact of the matter remained that his first three sons, since he hadn’t married their mothers were illegitimate in the eyes of the law, and only the children he would have with Jennifer would lawfully have the right to inherit any of his assets, which means that after him, neither Andrew, Gabriel or Donald would inherit the company but Jennifer’s child.
But this goal of his was still in a delicate stage because for one, his father was still alive and secondly, his father favored this particular son of his even more than him. So the only strategy was to get into his son’s head so they could manipulate the old man together, at most he would give this particular illegitimate son of his a few shares of the company if he contributed well enough to his goal.
It would be like tossing a bone to a dog after it had performed a trick. And for a young man who had been deprived of the care and guidance of a father, it was only a matter of time before he would cave and end up agreeing to everything Michael wanted.
All these were Micheal Sterling’s thoughts and his main reason for targeting Andrew with the feigned intention of reconciliation among his other sons.
Andrew’s eyes flashed with a deep seethed anger he was trying to suppress. The mere presence of this man in his space infuriated him beyond the limit he could continue to control.
Just as Andrew’s mouth parted to speak, the Manor’s doors swung open once more, and Anne stepped inside, returning from her day at work. However, her entrance was halted abruptly as she took in the unexpected sea of faces gathered in the manor, a sight that was far from ordinary.
Andrew’s words caught upon her arrival, his gaze shifting away from the two people before him to settle on his wife.
"Ah, there she is. I was wondering where our daughter in law must be." Michael remarked enthusiastically, his tone was boisterous in a way that one might truly believe he’d come to make up with his son. "Jenny, hurry and show her everything we bought for her, she must love them."
Anne who had just returned, suddenly being bombarded by piles and piles of gifts handed to her by a line of the Sterling family staff had no idea what to do or say.
When she’d gotten off work, she found Andrew’s car and his personal driver waiting outside to pick her up. She couldn’t help but feel slightly touched that he’d even thought about her not to mention sending his driver to pick her up. But upon her return she found the manor full. Seeing that it was Michael Sterling, Anne immediately understood that he’d come here to try to fix his relationship with his son again just like he’d tried to do the previous time at the estate.
But when Anne’s eyes met Andrew’s she saw the riveting shades of anger in his orbs and instantly knew he didn’t like what was going on at the moment.
He looked like he was ready to grab the man by his collar, forgetting the fact that he was his father and toss him out of the manor.
Would he really throw his own father out?
"All of this is for your Anne, and there’s so much more for you, all from your father in law and me." Jennifer spoke with a honeyed voice even though internally she hadn’t forgotten what happened between her and Anne the last time.
She would soon get the chance to deal with Anne the way she wanted once her husband got the support of this particular son of his.
Even before marrying Michael, Jennifer had heard a lot about Andrew Sterling. There were so many rumors about him but one thing was evident, he was very powerful, even much more powerful than his own father. But the only thing Micheal Sterling had over him was his emotions.
If the young man still longed for a father’s love, then that would be the quickest trap to use.
"Butler Jones."
After Micheal’s and his wife’s performance, Andrew finally called for the butler with a calm voice. Perhaps Anne’s presence had done something to quell the burning fury in his chest by a small fraction that instead of reacting with visible rage, he was calm now.
Michael Sterling smiled in relief.
The boy was going to ask the butler to welcome them in. As expected, a father would always remain a father no matter what happens.
"Send this man and his wife out of my house. Make sure to tell the guards at the gate that they are banned from having any access to my house from this day forward, if I ever see them step a foot through those gates, everyone who works in this manor is going to pay for it."
Butler Jones looked awkward but the person he worked for and served was Andrew, not Michael Sterling, hence whatever respect he had for the latter had to be pushed back at this moment because his master had already given his orders.
"Master Michael, please..." The butler gestured towards the door respectfully.
"What do you think you’re doing? You’re having your own father kicked out?" When Michael Sterling heard that what Andrew said was completely different from his expectations, his expression darkened significantly.
How dare he? He was just some boy who carried a fraction of his blood!
"One thing you’re forgetting is that I’ve had no father for the past nineteen years, and that still hasn’t changed so who are you to call yourself my father?"
Michael Sterling hated the confidence he was seeing in Andrew’s eyes, and he hated even more that the boy was much more influential than he was. He could only grit his teeth in anger.
"I know why you came back, but don’t get your hopes up. Sterling Enterprises will be mine in a few days and there’s nothing you or anyone can do about it. Get out of my house." Andrew added with an air of finality. The greed and desire for power in Micheal’s eyes were too clear for Andrew to have missed.
Michael Sterling clenched his fist in anger and humphed.
He would like to see who would win this battle, he wanted Sterling Enterprises and he would get it by any means. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Mark my words, you will regret pushing your own father away when I did nothing but come back to play my role as a guardian in your life." The man uttered as a final manipulative tactic to bend Andrew’s will.
Holding his wife’s hand he turned to leave, but all of a sudden Andrew called,
"Wait."
