Chapter 183: Chapter 183: Hearing Her Voice, He Began to Miss Her

Clara Grant apparently believed him, chuckling out loud. "You little rascal! Still thinking about introducing me to that uncle of yours, wherever he is? Are you planning to make a career out of being a matchmaker?"

"What’s a ’matchmaker’?" Cherie asked, not understanding.

"A matchmaker is someone who sets people up, just like you’re doing," Clara teased. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"No no no, I don’t want to be a matchmaker for anyone else. I only want to be a matchmaker for you and my uncle."

"Well, that career doesn’t have much of a future, because there’s no way I’m marrying your uncle. You should just forget about it."

The two of them, one big and one small, bantered back and forth, making the few people on the other end listening with bated breath want to laugh.

The moment Seth Quinn heard her voice, a layer of warmth had already softened his cool expression. Although he couldn’t see her, just listening to her voice, he could almost picture her face dancing before his eyes.

When she smiled, her eyes would crinkle into crescents, her face as radiant as the sun.

Especially when he heard her say, "there’s no way I’m marrying your uncle." Although she was saying she wouldn’t marry *him*, she didn’t know that *he* was Cherie’s uncle. ’So, can I interpret this to mean that, in her mind, she’s already accepted her identity as Mrs. Quinn?’

’Does that mean she isn’t interested in any man other than me?’

Even though this was just his own wishful thinking, he couldn’t help the smile that touched his lips, a smile that was steadily growing wider.

Listening to her voice, he found himself wanting to see her in person again.

Despite being busy with work, he had been sneaking away to the film studio every few days for the past month.

Luckily, regardless of whether she had a scene to shoot, she was always on set, apparently to learn from the other actors’ experience.

Because of that, he could always see her no matter when he went.

Sometimes he drove himself; other times, when he was tired, he had Chase Childs drive. It was a journey of over two hours to get out of the city. He would then hide somewhere inconspicuous to watch her for half an hour to an hour before making the two-hour-plus drive back to the city.

It was exhausting, but he never tired of it.

Seeing that she was safe and sound, living comfortably, and that her filming was going smoothly gave him an inexplicable sense of peace, as if all his fatigue had been swept away.

He didn’t know what kind of feeling this was. He had never been in this state of mind before, never put so much thought and effort into a woman.

He wanted to be good to her, and he wanted her to return his affection.

He hadn’t even felt this way about the woman who had almost become his fiancée a year ago.

As Seth Quinn was lost in thought, he heard Clara and Cherie’s joking come to an end. On the other end of the line, the young woman’s tone became serious as she asked Cherie,

"Cherie, how are you feeling now? Are you uncomfortable anywhere? Do you feel tired after talking for so long?"

’Patients usually have limited stamina. Especially for someone as young as Cherie, and with congenital heart disease... it seems like just saying a few words would leave him exhausted and out of breath.’

’But listening to Cherie talk, that didn’t seem to be the case.’

"Oh, don’t worry, I’m okay." Cherie glanced at his uncle and recited the lines he had been taught the previous night. "I’ve already had the surgery, and the doctor says I’m recovering really well. By the time you come back from filming, I’ll probably be up and running around again."

"Really? That’s wonderful." Hearing this, Clara Grant was genuinely happy. "Then you have to be a good boy, listen to the doctor, and cooperate with your treatment. When I get back, you have to be up and running around, you hear?"
