Bloodline Reckoning: The System Made Me Filthy Rich-Chapter 73: His Intention
Chapter 73: His Intention
As Edgar’s normally calm face looked tense, Noah’s heart tightened. He could guess something was not right.
He approached the seating area, waiting for Edgar to finish speaking.
"What is it, Edgar?"
"Sir, the old master wanted you to attend the funeral. And they will officially introduce you to the public."
Matthew can’t hide his frustration as he stares at Edgar. "Unbelievable! After what they did to him, reject him as part of Morgan, and now they want him again? What did you say to them, Edgar?"
Edgar didn’t bother to answer Matthew’s question, his eyes still fixed on Noah, who seemed calm, but he could see the surprise and confusion in his gaze.
After waiting a few more seconds and seeing no reaction from Noah, Edgar tried to clear up his confusion.
"Sir, you should come," Edgar suggested.
However, Matthew was shocked when he heard that and asked irritably, "Edgar, why should he come? Noah didn’t need all of them!"
"For heaven’s sake, Matthew Graham, can you stop interrupting me?" Edgar shoots him a sharp, dismissive look as if to say–get lost. Seeing Matthew open his mouth a few times but no words come out, he continues, "Please, man, I’m trying to speak to Noah here, not you!"
Matthew could only shrug and shake his head, ignoring Edgar’s gaze. He tried to speak up, but Edgar had the authority to handle the Morgan Family, while he was only here to assist Noah with Golden Phoenix Group and other personal matters.
"Thank you, Matty!" Edgar smiled, then looked at Noah, waiting for his reply.
Noah, who watched as Matthew and Edgar expressed their anger, could only chuckle. It was a rare sight to see them both angry; they usually appeared calm before his eyes.
However, when Noah saw Edgar, who seemed to be waiting for his response, it made him feel pressured again. He shared the same thoughts as Matthew, not wanting to return to his father’s family home.
Still, he also can’t ignore Edgar’s suggestion. freewēbnoveℓ.com
’Zoe, do you know why that old man wanted me to come? Was he suspicious about something?’ Noah asked, worried they might know he was responsible for Jeremy’s death.
’Obviously, he wanted to hide the news about Jeremy Morgan with your identity reveal.’
’Oh shit! He’s so shameless, huh!?’ Noah can’t help but laugh inwardly. He didn’t see it coming that Alexander Graystone wanted to use him.
’Sir, I think Edgar’s advice was right. Now is the right moment to reveal your identity. Doing so will draw the attention of influential and powerful figures nationwide, helping you move closer to your goals. Your chances of meeting them are high...’
Noah silently cursed upon hearing the damn list again.
"You can arrange it, Edgar. I trust your judgment." Noah finally answered him.
"Yes, sir, I will arrange it," Edgar said, standing up from his seat and excusing himself. But Noah stops him. "Anything else, sir?"
"When do they plan to hold the funeral?"
"Two days from now."
"Okay, that’s enough time..."
Noah chuckled to himself, imagining how Andrew Morgan would struggle to get a good night’s sleep as the negative news about Jeremy and Morgan spread across the internet and made headlines nationwide.
...
Sitting only with Matthew, Noah could see the confusion in his gaze, but he didn’t bother to address it.
Instead, he took out his cell phone to check Jason’s news. Finding nothing there, he then checked the news portal to read about Jeremy Morgan.
As he had predicted, Morgan Group’s stock price dropped sharply immediately. Several major companies in the country also began to scale back their operations with Morgan Group.
No wonder Alexander Morgan immediately thought of using it to restore public trust in the Morgan Group, because people were eager to learn his identity—he now also owned the Golden Phoenix Group.
’Such a shameless old man!’
Noah continues reading all the interesting news about the Morgan Group, along with negative or troll comments aimed at Jeremy and the Morgan family. However, not long after, Matthew’s question distracts him.
"Sir, can I ask you something?"
He looked at Matthew.
"Sure—"
"Why are you agreeing to go back there? Don’t you see, they’ll use your name to cover up Jeremy’s negative news?"
Matthew finally manages to voice his concern. He was clear about what Alexander Morgan planned to use Noah for. And he didn’t want Noah to fall into their trap, especially since Edgar didn’t explain or warn this young man.
Noah answered with calm confidence, "Yeah, I know they will do that."
"So, you know this, and you still agree?"
"Yes. Why is that puzzling you? Did you forget who I am, Matthew? And you know what my goals are, right?" Noah smiled as he watched Matthew freeze. He continued calmly, "They can use my name to cover up Jeremy’s death, but I also see this as an opportunity to get closer to my father’s enemies."
Noah recently realized that Edgar and Matthew only knew that his father had a powerful enemy out there. However, they didn’t know precisely who they were; from The List, they were not just humans, but evil creatures.
"Don’t worry about me, Matthew. Also, you need to trust Edgar; he understands the situation better than we do. Isn’t that right?"
"I’m sorry, sir. I realize I made a mistake by letting my personal feelings influence my actions." Matthew laughed lightly.
"That’s fine. Now, I know you’re human..." Noah playfully said. "All this time, I thought you were part of my system, a robot, or something like that..."
"Hahaha, well, sir... I’m human. But, I’m more powerful than those mere humans out there."
"I believe in you, Matthew. Well, you can go now...I need to get some sleep now. I’ve been up all night and just can’t seem to rest my eyes. Watching Emma has been quite exhausting!"
Noah said with a relaxed smile as he got up from the sofa and headed to his bedroom.
"Sir, do you really like Miss Emma?"
Noah paused his step and narrowed his eyes at Matthew.
"Why the heck do you think like that? I’m not! And stop gossiping about my personal life with Jason behind my back—"
