Chapter 71: Explain!

The presidential suite floor has two rooms, but Noah has no plans to sleep in the other one.

After talking with Jason until two in the morning, Noah tried to sleep on the sofa in the dark, waiting. Maybe Emma woke up and needed something.

However, when Noah woke up at six in the morning, he didn’t hear anything from the master bedroom.

’Is she alright?’ he wondered, standing up from the sofa and approaching the bedroom door. Pressing his ear to the door, trying to hear something, still, he couldn’t hear anything.

Just as he was about to knock, the door swung open suddenly, and there stood Emma, her face pale and her expression quite startling.

"N-Noah..." Her voice wavered and grew a little higher, but her eyes started to soften with relief. "Where am I? Why am I here?" she asked as she looked outside.

Noah was genuinely surprised by Emma’s question. He felt sure she didn’t remember what had happened to her the night before, which was just what he had hoped for.

If this girl found out someone had kidnapped her and tried to harm her, she might be profoundly traumatized.

It would also bother him, because what happened to her last night was a result of his family’s fight—he feels responsible.

"Emma, you’re at the Royal Phoenix Hotel..." Noah responded calmly, inviting her to sit with him on the sofa to chat.

As they both settled, he heard her many questions once again demanding an answer.

However, Noah didn’t respond immediately. Instead, he asked, "Before I reply, you must answer me first, Emma. Do you remember what happened to you last night?"

Emma’s curious expression gradually faded, and her look at Noah shifted to one of fear.

"No-Noah... I remember talking to you on the phone last night, and suddenly two big men approached me and grabbed me..."

Emma explained, her voice trembling slightly as she fought to hold back the fear that was now overtaking her again.

After taking a moment to breathe deeply, she continued, "I tried to fight and free myself, but they were too strong for me, and as soon as they threw me into the van, someone covered my mouth and I no longer remember anything..."

"Do you remember anything that happened after that?"

Emma paused, her brow creased in thought as she tried to recall something.

After a moment, she shook her head slowly.

"No, I didn’t remember anything," Emma pointed to the main bedroom as she continued, "I had only woken up a few hours earlier and found myself in that room. I was too scared to move, so I stayed on the bed, waiting for morning to come."

Noah was speechless. If only he knew she had already woken up, he wouldn’t have to wait this long.

"What time do you wake up?" He asked curiously.

"It’s about four, but I hesitated to leave the room. What if those people locked me in?" She sighed deeply again, gazing at Noah with a look of relief. She wanted to show him how happy she was to see him at last.

"You are safe, Emma. No need to worry about things..." Noah tried to reassure her as he saw the fear flashing through her eyes once more.

"Mmm, thank you, Noah. I’m truly relieved to see you now," Emma said with a forced smile as she continued asking how Noah had found her and brought her here.

Last night, Noah already prepared his most convincing answer for Emma. He discussed it with Jason, so they would tell Emma the same thing later. And of course, he will hide the truth from her.

"After hearing your request for help, I quickly reached out to my contact nearby. It turns out they are just a short distance from your last known location. When they arrived, they found only your cell phone and a shopping bag. Following a brief investigation, I also used my connection to review the CCTV footage near where you were taken..."

Noah continued to narrate it to her, laughing inwardly when he saw her gasp in shock. However, when he noticed her eyes starting to turn red and tears welling up, he swallowed and continued explaining.

"Before they could escape, we located their car, chased them down, and rescued you. Since they didn’t seriously hurt you, I brought you here to sleep, as they give something that could make you lose consciousness for a long time."

"Emma, I’m sorry. I found you, but I didn’t report those people—they just wanted money and used you as bait. I’m just beating them, then I hurriedly bring you here. I’m worried about involving the police."

"It’s okay. You made the right choice, Noah. My dad would have a heart attack if he found out what happened to me. Please, I beg you, don’t tell him."

Emma lowered her gaze to hide her tears and said, "Noah, I owe you my life. Thank you so much, thank you."

"No, you don’t owe me anything. I do it because I already thought of you as my family, Emma..."

Noah was very grateful that Emma finally understood and did not ask any more questions or seem suspicious about anything.

After he told her about the plan to send her home today, she also agreed, but was surprised to learn that Jason would accompany her on the flight to Opal City.

"Noah, I don’t think I need help... I can fly back on my own."

"I know you can. However, for my peace of mind and to ensure you’re safe until Opal City, please let Jason fly with you. He also wants to visit his father." Noah pleaded, worried that Jeremy’s ally might try to harm Emma again.

"Alright, I will follow your arrangement..." Emma finally agreed again. "What about my belongings in the hotel?" she asked.

"Jason is already on it and will arrive a little later. Emma, why don’t you go ahead and freshen up? I’ll make sure someone brings breakfast for us..."

"Hmm," Emma hurriedly left him alone.

Noah sat in his seat, watching Emma walk into the bedroom again. Though he was relieved that she didn’t question much about the incident, a worry still lingered in his mind.

Then he heard Zoe talking to him and explaining why Emma had suddenly come to the city. freewёbnoνel.com
