Blind Spot-Chapter 53 - 051 Mist Street Three

Chapter 53: 051 Mist Street Three
As the distance slowly closed in, Li Chengyi could see the details of the slot machine more clearly.
Across the entire old district shrouded in grey fog, everything was cloaked in grey, except for the slot machine which remained colorful as ever.
All around, nothing was powered on, only the slot machine was still spinning its gambling reels, with the numbers on the display changing from time to time.
Li Chengyi walked slowly to the front of the slot machine and saw that on the flat ground in front of the machine, there was a cracked yellow wooden stool.
The stool was round, much like the wooden toy stools that children used to sit on, with two circles on the top and bottom, joined by a single pillar in the middle.
He looked left and right, and the road he had come by was now veiled by the grey fog as well.
In that moment, he did not hesitate to sit down, reach out his hand, and touch the fruit buttons on the slot machine.
“It shouldn’t start without inserting coins, so what then is being used as the gaming currency?” he wondered curiously, as his index finger already touched the nearest watermelon button.
Hisss!
In an instant, the world spun around, and Li Chengyi’s vision blurred as if covered by a layer of frosted glass.
Before he could come to his senses, the slot machine in front of him had vanished, replaced by a game hall shimmering with colorful halos.
He stumbled backward, steadying himself.
He then realized he was standing in front of the game hall entrance, staring blankly inside, motionless.
“I’m out?”
A sense of loss unexpectedly flitted through his heart.
The Mist Street Blind Spot had piqued his interest in these dangerous incidents for the first time.
Especially that small white flower, that Flower Language Ability. Could it be real or fake?

If it were real, where should he look for similar flowers?
He had no idea.
Next to the game hall entrance, there was a drinks cooler placed where the surveillance camera was pointing.
Inside the cooler, rows of various colored beverage bottles were illuminated by the white light.
Li Chengyi let out a relieved sigh, took out his phone to scan a QR code, and prepared to buy a bottle to quench his thirst, a move that might also alleviate the awkwardness of standing foolishly at the doorway without entering.
He opened the cooler door and reached in to grab a bottle of jasmine tea.
Suddenly, using the reflection on the cooler door’s glass, he noticed a faint light flickering behind him.
“What’s that?” His heart chilled, and he instinctively ducked, following his training.
There was a light noise.
Clang.
Li Chengyi felt as if something had struck his back.
One of his two bulletproof vests seemed to have been penetrated!?
“There’s a gun!!?”
In the blink of an eye, he realized something was wrong, too late to turn around, he bent at the waist and lunged to the left.
Stomping his feet a few times, he had not run far when a shadow approached swiftly from the side.
Bang.
The shadow slammed hard into Li Chengyi, seeming to attempt to knock him to the ground to interrupt his escape.
But Li Chengyi dodged to the side, the impact missing him, only slicing a palm-length gash in his overcoat.
One chasing, the other fleeing, they sprinted madly.
In the midst of his rush, Li Chengyi looked back to see that his pursuer was a strange person wrapped in a grey coat.
The person was bulky yet light on their feet, moving faster than him.
The distance between them was closing rapidly as they ran.
Thud.
Another flash of silver swept by; Li Chengyi lunged forward, narrowly avoiding it, but lost his balance and fell to the ground as a result.
Even on the ground, he kept his head low, tucked into his chest, to avoid being shot in the back.
The attacker was not very skilled, and his shooting was mediocre; if it weren’t for the surveillance cameras around, Li Chengyi could have slapped him to death.
The man behind him realized that he was running away and chased after him to kill him at close quarters, but Li Chengyi pulled away by running.
Taking advantage of the moment he fell, the man in grey wielded a silver dagger and swung it towards him.
Clang.
The blow struck Li Chengyi’s raised right arm, the bulletproof plates on the arm emitting a solid ring.
The immense force numbed Li Chengyi’s arm, causing it to sink, almost failing to block the attack.
The blade of the silver dagger, almost a forearm’s length, kept pressing down, trying to slash at his face but was firmly blocked.
Whirr.
The blade of the dagger started vibrating violently, akin to a chainsaw, the cutting edge blurring and slicing through the bulletproof jacket, instantly severing a large gash in Li Chengyi’s coat.
“!!?” Li Chengyi’s eyes widened, if this were not a main street with surveillance cameras around, he would have worn the Floral Dress and used the Flower Language Technique to defeat the opponent right away.
But now he dared not.
The Flower Language Ability and the Floral Dress were too fantastical; once exposed, he would instantly become a target for everyone.
So…
Now he had to rely solely on his enhanced physique from the recent period and the two sets of bulletproof vests he wore to fight the opponent.
Watching the chainsaw-like dagger drawing closer, unable to find any place to hide in the surroundings.
Bang!
He kicked at the opponent’s abdomen, knocking the person back.
It was thanks to the recent enhancement of his physique by the Floral Dress. Otherwise, the modest improvement from his own training would have been no match for the hulking man before him.
The kick was powerful, knocking the grey-coated person back a meter.
Without waiting for him to steady himself, Li Chengyi got up and ran, scanning left and right until he quickly spotted a narrow alley to his right.
“That’s it!” He pivoted, his shoe soles scraping a black mark on the ground as he turned and charged into the alley.
The surveillance camera at the entrance of the alley had been smashed by someone, leaving nothing but a powerless metal box hanging there.
Li Chengyi’s heart leaped with joy as he plunged into the alley head-first.
The man in ash-colored clothing steadied himself and hurried to catch up.
Soon, he reached the entrance of the alley. Peering inside, he saw it was very deep, shrouded in darkness without a speck of light. At the end lay a bend in the path.
Standing at the entrance of the alley, he hesitated.
Bang!!
In an instant, a purple arm reached out from the alley, grabbing the ash-colored man by the collar.
Whoosh!
In less than half a second, the man was forcibly pulled inside.
In the alley, Li Chengyi covered the ash-colored man’s mouth and nose to prevent him from shouting, while his other hand secured the man’s body, his palm precisely pinching the wrist that held the knife.
With a crisp snap,
the ash-colored man’s wrist was broken, and the silver dagger fell to the ground, easily embedding itself in the earth.
With his wrist broken, he opened his mouth to scream in agony, but his mouth and nose were smothered, rendering him voiceless.
“Speak! Who sent you?” Li Chengyi asked in a low voice.
At this moment, he was clad in the Floral Dress, his strength and speed greatly enhanced, far surpassing human limits.
Just by holding him this way, the man was immobilized.
“Not talking, huh? Fine, you’ve got guts,” Li Chengyi said fiercely, his eyes hardening, and with a twist,
he broke the ash-colored man’s neck with a snap. The body trembled violently, and after a short while, grew limp and motionless.
To his death, he never understood why someone would think a person whose mouth and nose were covered could answer a question normally… He actually wanted to say…
As the body’s warmth seeped away, collapsing to the ground, Li Chengyi seemed to realize this point as well.
Blinking, he looked around to make sure no one had seen him and, somewhat embarrassingly, crouched down to inspect the body.
First was the dagger; it looked very powerful at a glance, but since the man had not activated its vibrating feature immediately, it likely meant the function was significantly worn out.
Li Chengyi pulled out the dagger and took a closer look.
Indeed, the blade no longer vibrated, riddled with dense, tiny serrated gaps.
Tossing aside the dagger, he quickly ran deeper into the alley.
Rounding the corner, he leaped over a puddle of foul water, dashed out of the alley, and through the debris of an abandoned factory filled with construction waste.
He intended to take a long detour to find a place to disconnect from the Floral Dress and contact Xindela and the others.
But no sooner had he rushed out of the abandoned factory than a soft sound came from the shoulder of the Floral Dress.
Ding!
He felt as if a mosquito had bitten him; something had penetrated the Floral Dress and struck the skin underneath.
Li Chengyi swiftly looked in the direction of the sting.
Not far away, a gray figure continued to take aim, firing shots in his direction.
Ding ding ding!
Three more clear sounds rang out as three shots hit Li Chengyi, but all were blocked by the Floral Dress.
The evolved Floral Dress could easily deflect handgun bullets, and now it was somewhat struggling against this special weapon.
Li Chengyi saw clearly that these were not bullets, but needles as long as fingers being shot at him.
He raised his arms, not bothering to dodge anymore, and charged straight toward the shooter.
The two were positioned at opposite corners of the abandoned factory.
The rectangular building was only separated by one wall from the district where Mist Street happened, measuring roughly over a hundred meters in length and width.
Just beyond the wall was the bus stop that Li Chengyi had seen earlier.
There were still people waiting for the bus at the stop.
But at that moment, neither of them had any intention of stopping their assault.
The man in ash-colored clothing dropped his gun, quickly accelerating his pace to meet Li Chengyi’s charge head-on.
Both of them sped up, and the thirty-odd meters between them vanished in the blink of an eye. They collided like two cheetahs sprinting at full speed, instantly crashing into each other.
Bang!!
The ash-colored man’s coat was shattered from the impact, its fragments scattering on the ground, revealing his true form.
Underneath the coat was a bald, muscular man whose half body was covered in silver-white metal skin.
As they collided, the one with the advantage in strength was actually him—he took a step back from the rebound, his right arm raising up, with his hand already transformed into a sharp and lethal black blade.
Swoosh!
The blade swung down.
Li Chengyi stepped back twice, raising his arm just in time to block the strike.
At the same time, his right leg rose high, delivering a knee strike directly to the man’s abdomen.
The blade left a deep slash on Li Chengyi’s arm armor.
Li Chengyi’s knee strike caved in the bald man’s silver abdominal skin. The evolved Floral Dress had a black spike on the knee, which now pierced a hole right through the center of the man’s stomach.
However, whether it was the slash on Li Chengyi’s arm or the hole in the bald man’s abdomen, no blood flowed out.
Clearly, the exchange did not completely penetrate either of their armors.
“What model is this!?” the bald man exclaimed in shock. His enhanced model was superior in strength and close combat among his peers.
Yet, he hadn’t been able to breach Li Chengyi’s armor in one blow?
Was there any basic civilian model with such strong defense available on the market?
Though puzzled and shaken in his mind, his hands didn’t stop moving. A series of blade flashes continuously struck Li Chengyi.
Bits and pieces of the Purple Floral Dress flew off as it was slashed.
The bald man was incredibly strong, and his close combat skills were sharp. He completely dominated Li Chengyi, who was unable to counter and at a disadvantage.
If not for the evolved Floral Dress’s substantial defense, he likely would have been cut down by now.
Blade flashes cascaded down on Li Chengyi like a waterfall, with great force, but unfortunately, despite a dozen seconds of assault, they failed to break through the armor. Impatience began to flicker in the bald man’s eyes.
He had come for a swift kill. Upon receiving the signal that his subordinates had failed, he took action personally to complete the organization’s task. Yet, to his surprise, it still wasn’t over.
The defense of the opponent’s armor was comparable to his own Silver Wolf modified type.
