Chapter 159: Chapter 159

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OOOF!"

They landed, and Zion finally stopped screaming.

"Master, you scream like a bitch."

"Nuh-un! You do!"

"No, you do!"

"No, you do!"

"No, you do!"

"No, you-"

[Can you cut it out and pay attention?!"] Tessa interrupted.

"My bad. Let’s see. There should be a large structure that screams, ’I’m holding an ancient relic! Please steal me!’ somewhere here."

"Like that?" Aryah asked

Turning around, Zion spotted the large temple-looking building that was similar to the one he encountered in Midgard.

"Huh, yeah, like that." He nodded.

"Halt! Who goes there?!" A guard asked, pointing their spear at Zion.

Many other guards did the same, not welcoming the intruder who blasted a hole into their sacred place.

"Hello, nice to meet you all. I’m Zion Zagan, Apostle of Luminera. I’m here to get something, so don’t pay me any mind. Continue to guard this place."

"Oh." The guard lowered his spear. "Carry on then."

"Thank you." Zion smiled.

"Did you really think i’d fall for that you dumb bitch?!" The guard pointed his spear at Zion once more, it now pulsing with mana.

"Well fuck you too! You don’t have to be so mean!"

"Everyone, attack!"

"Aryah."

"On it!"

"Don’t kill them."

"Fine."

And so, a one-sided beating happened right before Zion’s eyes. It was so embarrassing that watching them struggle against her made him tear up.

He sniffed. "They...They’re so ass."

He stopped watching the massacre and walked to the double doors that led into the temple.

"Noo! Stop him! Arghhh!" A guard yelled

"Keep up the good work. I’ll ask Queen Melina to give you all a raise."

"Really?!" The guard asked right as he got clobbered in the face by one of Aryah’s clones.

"Oof, yeah, sure." Zion opened the door, a creaking sound echoing through the cave, then entered the temple, closing the door behind him.

"Alright, let’s go this." He took one step, triggering a trap, and the ground opened beneath him.

"Hahaha, nope, can’t get me that easily." He laughed, floating back up to the surface.

"Tessa, analyze this whole structure."

[Scanning, give me a second. Beep boop.]

"Did you just say ’Beeb boop?’"

[Maybe. Anyway, this entire place is rigged, like I mean, 80% traps, 20% the correct path with no traps.]

"What kind of madman built this place? Satan?"

[Who’s satan?]

"The first betrayer in history, dear."

[Sounds like a bastard.]

"There’s more to the story, but it’s not important right now. Aryah."

"Here!"

"Blow this bitch up."

"Aye, aye, captain!"

She clapped her hands, and the temple’s entire internal structure collapsed in an instant. Every trap shattered, every barrier fell, leaving behind a single, clear path—one that led Zion straight to the chamber holding the Ancient Relic.

"Nice."

As he arrived at the chamber holding the ancient relic, he took a minute to appreciate the craftsmanship of the Staff of Magic.

It was a beautiful piece of work. An all-gold staff with a large gemstone at the top of the staff and a small gemstone at the bottom. Basic, but once you took the time to examine it, one could feel the intensity the staff gave off.

"Whoever built this knew what they were doing, god damn!"

"Master! Can I touch?!" Aryah asked, drooling slightly.

"No, don’t touch! Here, play with this instead." He tossed her the sword of forms, which she gratefully accepted, swinging it around like a baseball bat from side to side.

"Phew, let’s do this." He touched the staff, and like before, he was transported into a different place, similar to the place Gustall was in, except more elf-like.

"Greetings, powerful mage. Congratulations on passing all the trials up to this point." An elf woman said with a smile. "My name is Holcene Orym, the Elf Hero and-"

"Yeah, I don’t give a fuck. Luminera, come out now." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

Luminera’s presence cracked the space they were in, turning the lush green forest into a barren wasteland. "It’s been a while, Holcene!"

"L-L-L-L-Luminera?! H-How are you...why are you....This is impossible!" Holcene stammered, fear all over her face.

"After all I’ve done for you and your people, you still turned your back on me. Shame, you were my favorite out of all the Heroes."

"I...I...I...I..." She couldn’t get any words out.

"Hmph, pitiful. Just die." Lunimera waved her hand and shattered the space they were in completely.

Luminera then turned to Zion. "Now, Zion."

"Yeah, what’s up?"

"Clench your teeth."

"Oh, no! You’re not punching me in the face again!"

"What? I’m not...I’m not gonna punch you in the face."

Zion sighed in relief. "Oh, good, cause that shit hurt last time."

"I’m gonna kick you in the balls." She smiled innocently

"Wait, what?!"

Zion truly wondered how he could even feel pain while in his soul form. He wasn’t even in his physical body. But when Luminera kicked him in the nuts, he could feel his entire line of descendants that spanned millions of years disappear in one go.

"Mom, should we join Zion?" Valindra asked, her eyes still red from crying.

Melina looked at her daughter and sighed. "I...I don’t know. I don’t know anything anymore. I don’t know how to feel or think, or do anything. I failed as a Queen, a wife, and a mother. I’m tired."

"I want to join him. And I want you to join me as well."

"You’ll be going against Goddess Freya and everything we dedicated to her."

"I don’t even care at this point. She let her apostle run wild and kill our own people. Goddess, no, Freya is supposed to be the Goddess of the Elves, yet she did nothing but watch us suffer. I don’t agree with Nimreth, but I believe in Zion. And, I...I love him."

Melina didn’t know what to say. Her daughter did have a point, and she too felt angry toward Freya. But could she betray her? Could she worship another deity after dedicating 2000 years of her life to one goddess? Faith was a hard thing to break, but once broken, nothing could repair it.

"I...I’ll allow you to do as you please. And I’m not opposed to siding with Zion in this matter, but I want to know his end goal. Then, and only then, will I agree to be on his side. I just hope he doesn’t lead our people to ruin."
