Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 132
Chapter 132: Chapter 132
"Oh fuck, that took a lot out of me." Zion groaned, collapsing to the ground.
"Zion!" Syrune and Valindra yelled, rushing to his side to aid him.
"My Queen, everyone is cured! No one is sick! Not only that, but anyone who had some type of injury has been healed. It’s a miracle! You’ve brought a miracle to our lands!" Andela shouted with glee.
Melina was also happy that her people were now okay and could push past this crisis. The more she saw Zion, the more her opinion of him changed for the better. She still didn’t want to be called mother-in-law, though.
"Valindra, take Zion to one of the royal chambers so he can get some rest while I hold an emergency meeting. That fracture is getting closed tonight."
---
"Thanks," Zion said as Valindra helped him onto a bed.
"So, do you plan to do?" She asked
"What do you mean? I’m here to help. Your goddess asked for my aid."
"No, not that. What are you going to do when you aren’t helping? Just sit around?"
He smirked. "You want my help with something, huh?"
She sighed, sitting in a nearby chair. "It’s that obvious, huh?"
"Well, you did tell me that you want to use me so you can get out of a relationship with your suitor."
"Can you help me with that?" She asked, her beautiful eyes pleading for Zion’s help.
"What do you even want me to do? Beat the guy up? I’m pretty good when it comes to that."
"Heh, I wish. He’s from an important family, so you can’t just beat him up. Since his position as my fiancé is threatened, he’ll either try to take you out secretly, or challenge you to a duel to determine who’ll marry me."
"I don’t get why you can’t just decline his proposal." Zion wondered, folding his arms behind his head.
"This was something that was determined before my birth. Also, it’s to strengthen the power of the royal family." Valindra admitted, lowering her head in defeat.
"What, is he blessed by the spirits or something? Haha." Zion joked.
"Yes, actually."
"What?"
"As elves, we are naturally drawn to nature, and this also means we are naturally drawn to spirits. My suitor’s family has been closely tied to the spirits for generations, long before the demon was 10,000 years ago. Recently, about 2,000 years ago, their family became even closer with the spirits, and my grandmother noticed that. So, she wanted to form blood ties between our families. Since my mother was already married at the time, I became the person to marry into their family."
"Spirits, huh?" Although not much was known about spirits, Zion knew about spirits and how powerful they were. They were made of pure mana and have an even closer connection with mana than dragons do. Spirit magic was also one of the rarest forms of magic, so rare that no one even categorized it as a form of magic. Why? It was simple, spirits lose half of their power once they enter the material world.
To negate that factor, the spirit has to either be a high-ranking spirit, a spirit king, or make a contract with a person of the material world. Becoming a high-ranking spirit was hard enough, so traveling to the physical world wouldn’t even bring them any benefits by the time they reached that level of strength.
There could only be one Spirit King for each type of spirit, and they would need to stay in the spirit world so they could rule their people.
Lastly, to form a contract with a spirit, one would need to have an affinity for a spirit contract, the same element as the spirit, the mana capacity to handle the spirit, and a body that can handle the power of a spirit.
Zion has tried to make contracts with spirits before, but each time he failed. He met the requirements that were needed, but because spirits can sense the true nature of someone’s feelings, they didn’t want to be with someone as ambitious as him.
"Fuck spirits by the way. Those tiny bitches."
Valindra laughed. "They’re only tiny when in the physical world or when they aren’t using their full power."
"And how do you know this?" He asked
"Because I’m a spirit summoner." She revealed as if that was a normal thing to do.
A Spirit Summoner was someone who formed a contract with a spirit.
"What the fuck? Seriously? W-Why didn’t you use that power in the tournament? I know how powerful spirits are, and you definitely could have caused me a bit of trouble."
"Well, I’m not very good at controlling my spirit. Also, my spirit is just a primal one. Not even a low-ranking one." She smiled wryly.
"A primal spirit? That’s still good. Since it’s a young spirit, you should be able to imprint your own will onto it so the spirit can grow into one that you want."
Spirits have a total of five forms, but 99.99% of them would only achieve up to the fourth form. Their forms are the Primal stage, when a spirit is just born and has no consciousness, and just acts on instinct. They can use mana but not intricate spells. They are the easiest to make contracts with, but you’d still have to meet the conditions to form one.
The second form is the Low-rank form, also known as the pixie form. Here, they have grown and developed intelligence. They are also able to use spells, but now they’re significantly stronger. After that would be the mid-rank form, also known as the fairy form. In this form, the spirit can use nature as a second limb and can even strengthen the spells of their contractor if they have one.
The fourth form is known as the high-rank form or the Nymph form. In this form, they’ve reached the peak of what their race can do, and they are walking disasters. It’s rare to see a Nymph and even rarer to form a contract with one.
Finally, the last form is the Spirit King form, and only one spirit at a time can have the title and power of a Spirit King. They are basically a super amped up Nymph and can even control other spirits. They are called Fae.
Valindra sighed. "Well, while that may be the case, I’ve never been able to do so. Primal spirits are wild and unpredictable, you know."
"But they can also grow with you. You can literally nurture your spirit into a Nymph with the right care." Zion argued
"That’s IF you can nurture them."
"Maybe I can help with-" Zion was interrupted by a call coming in from his neural implant. He put his hand to his ear and answered the call.
"What is it?" He asked
"Master, I’ve found some crucial information that you’d want to hear," Helen said on the other end of the call.
"How crucial are we talking?"
"The demons. It seems their operation runs deeper than we thought."
