Chapter 131: Chapter 131

"What the fuck?! How the hell did I not notice that shit?" Zion said as he looked up in the sky, seeing a massive fracture that led to the underworld with demons pouring out of it.

"You were too busy cracking jokes and taunting Pinor." Syrune reminded him.

"Ahh, that’s right. Still no salad by the way."

"Fuck you."

Melina was leading Zion to the infirmary, where everyone infected by the disease was being treated. Because of how easily the disease was transmitted and how large the number of patients was, the elves were forced to bring everyone outside for treatment. This was how Zion spotted the fracture in the sky.

"Beyond this point is the infirmary. Please move with caution so you won’t be infected. If something happens to you, then my people are doomed." Melina said, her voice slightly trembling.

"Don’t worry. I’m sure nothing will happen to me." He smiled, then attempted to open the door, but was stopped by Valindra.

"Are you mad?"

"No, I’m quite happy, why?"

"You’re going in there without a mask and gloves! Do you want to get infected?"

Zion gasped, "Wait, are you worried about me?"

She slapped him.

"No! I just don’t want my people to suffer more than they already are."

"You’re totally worried about me. But like I said, don’t worry. Nothing will happen to me."

The moment he opened the door and stepped into the outer infirmary, a vile stench hit him like a wall—rot, bile, and waste mingling in the air. Inside, chaos reigned. Dozens writhed in agony, vomiting uncontrollably, soiling themselves as their bodies convulsed. Blood streamed from their eyes, and their screams painted a portrait of unrelenting pain.

Doctors and healers rushed frantically through the ward, doing everything they could to ease the suffering, but death claimed more victims than they could save. Even those who clung to life remained on the brink, their conditions unstable, their survival uncertain. No one was truly safe. The air was thick with panic, pain, and desperation. It was utter chaos.

"My god!" Valindra muttered under her breath.

"My Queen! Princess! You shouldn’t be here! Leave at once! We can’t afford for you two to get infected!" The head healer said as she helped another patient.

"Do not worry about me. Tell me, how is everything going? Were you able to find a cure, or at least some kind of vaccine?" ƒreewebɳovel.com

"Nothing, madam. We are barely able to ease their pain, and there are more deaths than saved lives. Even our soldiers aren’t dying at such a rapid pace. I’m afraid this will be one of the worst moments in our history." The healer said as the patient in her care died.

"Zion, please help Healer Andela in any way you can! Please!"

Zion nodded, casting a barrier of holy power around Melina, Valindra, and Syrune, which blocked out the harmful substances that could potentially infect them.

Andela didn’t even care that Zion was a human and immediately told him everything that was going on. The patient’s symptoms, how someone could get infected, and what was able to temporarily stop the spread of the disease.

"Healing magic didn’t work?" He asked.

"No. It did stop the spreading of the disease, but it continued once we stopped healing them. It was as if the disease was waiting for us to stop healing our patients so it could kill them." Andela informed him as they went to another patient.

"Tessa, scan this person’s body."

[Which type of scan would you like me to do?]

"All of them." He said.

Tessa scanned the elf’s body and projected the results in front of him for everyone to see.

"What the...What is that?" Andela asked

Zion didn’t answer, only studying the screen and the 3D model of the elf. "Has this elf always been this skinny, or did it happen only when this disease struck?"

"H-He became skinny because of the disease. Why?"

"How long has he been infected?" Zion asked

"About a day now," Andela answered.

"Hmmm. I’ll have to draw some blood."

"What? Why do you need to draw blood?"

"Just let me do my thing," Zion said, creating a syringe using nano tech and drawing some of the elf’s blood. It was dark red with a hint of purple, clearly not normal.

"Tessa, scan."

[Scan complete.]

"Zoom in on his blood, microscopic level."

Tessa zoomed in.

"Oh, so that’s what’s happening." What Zion saw were tiny microscopic parasite demons that ate every red blood cell in sight, multiplying when doing so and killing any white blood cell in their path.

"What’s happening?! Do you know how to cure it?!" Melina asked, shaking Zion without knowing.

"Andela, can you use healing magic on this syringe?" He asked

"Why?"

"Just do it!" Melina ordered.

"Y-Yes, my Queen." She cast a healing spell on the syringe.

"Interesting. It seems that using healing magic puts these little creatures to sleep, halting their reign of terror. But how long do they sleep for?" He wondered, waiting for them to wake back up.

And after 20 minutes, the little microscopic demons woke up and began to eat away at the elf’s red blood cells.

"And let’s try holy power." He muttered, bathing the syringe in holy light. The demonic parasites burned and died once in contact with the holy power, turning the dark blood back to its normal color.

"What did you just do?" Andela asked. "Did you cure the blood? Can you cure them?"

Zion shook his head. "I can treat them, but it’s not a cure. They’ll be out of harm’s way and won’t be infected anymore, but if this happens again, you won’t have a cure to combat this disease. It could lead to an epidemic, or worse." He took five more blood samples just in case, so he could study them later.

"That’s fine. Just do what you can." Melina ordered

"Very well." He pressed his hands together, drawing upon every ounce of Holy power within him. In a blinding surge of light, his Apostle Form awakened—radiant and overwhelming. Above Alfhiem, a colossal golden magic circle unfurled across the sky, so vast it blanketed the entire kingdom. From it, beams of divine light cascaded downward, touching every elf, no matter where they were. Wounds closed, pain vanished, sicknesses went away, and life returned in an instant. Across the scorched land, the cries of suffering were replaced with gasps of awe and relief.
