Blade of the Goddess-Chapter 130
Chapter 130: Chapter 130
"But my Queen, our forces are spread thin, and if we search the entire forest, there won’t be anyone left to defend the capital! Our citizens have come down with some sickness which is highly contagious, and we need to focus all of our efforts here!" An Elf advisor said while speaking to Melina.
"Do you think Alfheim stops at only the Capital? Alfheim is the entire forest, and not all of our people reside in the capital. Alfheim is burning, and as Queen, it’s my duty to protect everyone who resides in our forest. Send everyone now! Protect our citizens and search everywhere for any potential demons lying low." Queen Melina ordered.
"Mother, I’ll take a force to search the forest." Valindra offered
Melina shook her head. "No, I need you here with me. Your father is currently with your brothers on the opposite side of the kingdom, helping as much as they can. This leaves only us two royals here, and we need to protect this place."
"Urgent news!" An elf messenger shouted as they entered the royal court
"Divine Apostle Nimreth has returned and is driving the demons away!"
"She returned?!"
"Yess!"
"We’re saved!"
"Order all troops to aid Lady Nemrith, we’ll drive these demons from our lands and seal that fracture in the sky!" Melina ordered.
"Yes, Ma’am!" The elf messenger turned around to relay her orders.
"Mother, I would like to help!" Valindra pleaded.
"No. You stay here. Act as my proxy while I’m out there helping Lady Nemrith. I know you’re thinking with good intentions, but as the next queen, I can’t risk your life that easily."
Valindra sighed, sitting down in a chair. "Fine, I understand moth-" She was cut off by a loud voice that was causing commotion from outside.
"Stop! A human cannot enter the Royal Palace!" A guard said.
"Look, this man was ordered to help us from the Goddess Freya herself. If you don’t believe me, then just don’t be around your family once her divine wrath kills you." Syrune said, walking past the guard while holding Zion’s arm.
"I still cannot let you pass!" The guard said, grabbing Zion’s other arm.
"Hey man, I don’t appreciate you grabbing my arm like that, but since you’re doing your job, I’ll let it slide if you let go right now."
The guard scoffed. "Don’t you dare speak in my presence, human! You are in the presence of a Royal Guard who has sworn to protect the royal family. I’ll have you imprisoned for talking to me in such a rude manner."
"Can I just kill him?" Zion asked
"No! You cannot kill him." She slapped Zion’s chest. "Look. I have to get him to the Queen right now! The fate of our kingdom depends on it!"
"Our fate depends on some human? I’d rather die than be saved by his kind."
"As you wish." Zion blew the guy’s head off.
"ZION!"
"What? He’s the one who asked to die. It’s not my fault. But now we won’t be stopped, and we can see the Queen now."
"What is going on here?" A royal advisor asked, walking out with the other royal advisors, Valindra and Melina.
"Queen Melina, I can explain." Syrune panicked as they all saw the dead elf on the ground.
"Hey, babe." Zion smiled.
Valindra’s cheeks flushed with a faint blush, but she quickly composed herself, forcing the warmth away. "Z-Zion? What... what are you doing here?" she asked, her voice wavering just enough to betray her surprise. freёwebnoѵel.com
"Didn’t you say to visit you once I had the chance?" He held out his arms. "Well, now I’m here."
"What happened here?" Melina asked.
"So I tried to-"
"Not you, Syrune, I want Zion to answer my question."
"Of course, mother-in-law." He bowed, walking up to Valinda, wrapping his arm around her waist.
Valindra didn’t move, and she was clearly uncomfortable, but she didn’t stop him.
Melina clenched her fists to the point where they became white, whiter than her own natural complexion, but she remembered how valuable Zion was, which calmed her mind slightly.
The other elves were shocked to hear Zion, a human, call their Queen his mother-in-law, but since the queen didn’t say anything, they didn’t say anything.
"So I rescued Nimreth from these demonic humans and..." He explained everything from start to finish until he recounted the events that had just transpired.
"How dare you kill an elf! Especially if you were meant to help us!" An advisor yelled with anger
"He got what he deserved," Melina said coldly.
"But my Queen-"
"This guard denied access to the palace even when he was informed that Zion here was asked by not only our Divine Apostle, but our Goddess herself, to help us out. Do you think going against our goddess is something to be taken lightly?" Melina asked
"N-No, my Queen. But-"
"That will be all. Zion, Syrune, follow me to my office. You too, Valindra. As for the rest of you, go and help Lady Nemrith and drive those demons out of our Kingdom!"
"By your command!" They all shouted.
Before one of the advisors left, he shot Zion a nasty look, one of disapproval and disgust. So Zion simply flicked the guy off as he walked with the Queen to her office.
---
"What the hell were you thinking?!" Melina asked, slapping the back of Zion’s head.
"Ow! Look, the guy had it coming, okay? Sure, Syrune told me not to kill them, but-"
"I don’t care about that! I’m talking about calling me ’mother-in-law’ and holding Valindra’s waist in front of my royal advisors."
"Well, she’s my woman after all. And because she’s my woman, that would make you my mother-in-law."
"She’s NOT your woman! Not yet, at least. You have barely known each other for a week, let alone ten years!" She yelled. "Besides, one of my Royal advisors, the one who shot you that nasty look, is Valindra’s potential father-in-law. Now he will be on my ass and question why I allowed my daughter to marry a human instead of his son."
"Honestly, that sounds like a YOU problem."
"You! Ugh, fine! So, tell me, what can you do for us?" She asked, calming herself.
"Anything you need me to do?" He said, taking a seat while putting both Valindra and Syrune on his lap.
"Z-Zion?"
"W-What are you doing?" They both blushed
"You!" She wanted to curse him out, but she held her tongue. "Some of my citizens are sick, and healing magic isn’t working. Do you think you can cure them?"
"What are their symptoms?" He asked
"They have demonic energy poisoning. It’s a highly contagious disease, and it leaves purple spots all over the body. I don’t know if you have heard about that, but it’s a disease that-"
"Strips a person of their mana and lifeforce," he finished for her.
"Yes. That’s exactly it. I see you’ve heard of it before."
"Nah, just took a guess."
"Well, can you help?" She asked, her voice genuine.
"I’ll see what I can do."
