Blackout Ascension: Return of Primordial Heir-Chapter 31: Time Doesn’t matters
[TRAIL BEGIN!]
[RUSH INTO THE ARENA FLOOR!]
[DEFEAT THE DEMON]
Kairos stretched his hands straight up, relaxing, and chanted a defensive spell barrier around Seyana.
Kairos slowly marched inside the arena.
****
Chronvolr descended like a guillotine. It was the absolute killing blow. Pyrix, lying heavily on his bleeding chest in the ruined colosseum, was trapped in his wounded dragon form and could not move. His thick neck was stretched out, his massive reptilian eyes wide with the realization of death.
Around him, his legendary siblings lay broken on the crystal floor, unconscious. Algreth’s dark blade aimed directly for the Fire Dragon’s skull. It was a public execution.
No one in the stadium dared to move a single muscle. Except... exactly one person did.
Right before Chronvolr reached Pyrix’s thick scales... another sword met it, a clank sound hummed loudly across the arena.
HUMMMMMM!!
It was a calm, destructive resonance that reverberated the very soul. Every single head in the arena turned. Algreth looked down for the first time, and there was the genuine surprise resting in his void-black eyes.
Because someone was standing firmly between him and the Fire Dragon.
It was Kairos Vedaryan.
He had arrived without footsteps, without a single sound, or any trace of rushing wind. He just crossed an impossible distance, lunging inward. He came to save his friend and complete the trail by killing Algreth. Kairos stood monumentally firm. His hands trembled violently, but it was absolutely not from fear. It was from the pure, unadulterated destroyer’s rage flowing, burning through his own blood.
The newly acquired system title, Conqueror of Time, hummed wildly inside his sealed core. Algreth stubbornly continued to press his strike downward against Pyrix, ignoring Kairos as if he were a tiny, pathetic bug in his path.
But Asteria, the beautiful silver sword lovingly given to him by Seyana, blocked Chronvolr. A simple sword forged entirely from mortal love had miraculously stopped a divine sword forged by Time itself.
Pyrix’s eyes widened in shock, focusing closely on the small, brave human standing right under his chin.
"Kairos..." the mighty dragon rumbled, his voice staggeringly weak and bleeding.
Kairos didn’t speak a single word. He just clenched his jaw and pushed entirely forward. He forced Algreth’s heavy, divine blade upward.
By exactly one inch.
Then two inches.
Then a whole step backward.
Algreth stared at him, with a blank expression. The Demon God of Time slowly tilted his head.
"You ran away earlier..." Algreth said, his voice echoing loudly in the silence. "You ran away to the back just to protect the royal woman. And yet... you foolishly returned to the stage just to protect a dying dragon."
Kairos’s voice was incredibly low, broken from heavy emotion and raw physical strain. "I will always protect everyone I genuinely care about," Kairos stated firmly, with a prideful grin in his eyes. "Always."
Asteria shimmered brighter, with a warm, deeply gentle light.
Algreth narrowed his dark, void eyes. He hated that warm light.
"A tiny sword actively fueled by mortal emotion..." Algreth dismissed it. "How utterly pathetic. You genuinely wish to die today, human? Then you will die in absolute silence."
Algreth simply exhaled a cold, freezing breath. "Absolute Zero: Chronos."
Time completely stopped. The vibrant color drained entirely from the world in a heartbeat. The roaring, chaotic flames surrounding Pyrix stopped flickering, turning into solid, unmoving statues made of orange and red glass.
Floating dust hung unwavering in the empty air. The crowd instantly froze, petrified. Their terrified eyes were frozen wide open, and their screams were permanently silenced in their dry throats. The flags stopped waving. The wind died entirely. The entire world turned a dead, flat grey.
Algreth moved smoothly through the absolute stillness. He was the master here.
CLANK!! CLANK!! CLANK!!
He calmly walked around Kairos, looking very closely at the boy’s strained face. He looked at the fierce determination unwavering, brightly in his dark eyes. He stared at a tiny sweat droplet perfectly suspended in the empty air right near the boy’s forehead.
Algreth smiled a cruel, arrogant smile.
"Absolutely nothing in this world moves when time halts, boy," Algreth whispered softly to the frozen Kairos. "Nothing breathes and nothing actively thinks. Not even minor Gods can ever defy this silent domain."
He raised Chronvolr. The dark blade actually roared loudly with eagerness to drink the soul of the frozen warrior. "And you... you are just a mere, mortal bastard."
He swung the sword. It was a casual, lazy strike with very little effort behind it. He just needed to cleanly sever the unprotected neck. The dark blade should have cut straight through Kairos flawlessly.
The blade nearly touched Kairos’s skin and then... something impossible happened.
CLINK!
A sharp, metallic sound tinged brightly in a world without sound. Chronvolr struck something hard.
[UNIQUE SKILL: TIME DOESN’T MATTERS, LEVEL:1]
[DESCRIPTION: ANY CHRONOS SPELLS OR TIME BOUND SPELLS CANNOT BIND THE USER.]
[RARITY: SSR]
[MANA REQUIRED: 1̸0̷0̶0̶ NONE]
(1000 was scratches)
Kairos saw the Blackout signal even in the frozen world.
Algreth was genuinely stunned. A sword? No. A sword simply cannot ever move in stopped time. How the hell had it moved up to block?
He looked down. Kairos’s right hand had physically moved. In the microscopic, impossible fraction of a second between the swing and the lethal impact, Kairos had lifted Asteria. The shining silver blade was currently held exactly between Algreth’s dark sword and his own neck.
Algreth’s eyes widened massively. He was genuinely, utterly stunned. For a supreme being who transcended reality itself, it was the greatest expression of pure shock he had ever shown in centuries.
He physically moved?
Algreth took a quick, fearful step back. He looked closely at Kairos’s face.
The boy’s head slowly, agonizingly turned.
It was incredibly slow. It looked exactly like a broken machine violently forcing its iron gears to turn against thick, unyielding rust.
Kairos’s dark eyes darted, locking onto Algreth.
They were absolutely no longer the warm, determined eyes of a passionate boy desperately protecting his lover. They were entirely emotionless, cold, and dead calm.
Algreth whispered out loud, his voice losing its usual, mocking arrogance.
"No... Absolutely no one should ever be conscious in my dominion."
Kairos didn’t want to answer him.
Asteria shimmered very faintly in his grip. It was a strange, colorless glow and unknown magic.
Kairos took a slow, frantic step forward.
CRACK!!
The frozen, dead grey air instantly shattered like fragile glass around his body. He stepped smoothly forward again.
Algreth out of pure, instinctual reflex, took another quick step back. Time, which rightfully and entirely belonged to Algreth... momentarily hesitated around Kairos. The Demon God of Time actually physically felt his flawless control slip away. The "Conqueror of Time" was actively overriding his divine laws.
"Impossible," Algreth panted heavily, his grip tightening in sheer panic. "Die!"
Algreth swung Chronvolr again. This time, he used lethal, divine precision. He cut through the dimensions actively aiming to sever the exact timeline where Kairos was ever born. It was an attack that could not be blocked. But, Kairos easily blocked it comprehensively one-handed.
CLANG!!!
Kairos stopped the terrifying strike which could easily travel through dimensions.
Algreth immediately switched to Absolute Killing Instinct. He cataclysmically unleashed an obscuring flow of devastating blows. Each was meant to completely erase the mortal soul in time itself.
CLANG!! CLANG!! CLANG!!
Kairos turned his wrist and he flawlessly parried, deflecting them away. He easily blocked every dimensional slash.
He actively treated the angry demon’s ultimate attacks exactly like they were nothing more than a light, annoying summer rain. He was moving just exactly like a dead man walking. He fought exactly like someone who confidently knew the answer. He knew that he was the strongest being alive and no one could ever hope to defeat him.
Algreth staggered backward, panting, his chest heaving. "What a terrifying being... are you?" Algreth whispered in pure horror. "You are definitely not a human. Humans absolutely cannot defy me!"
Kairos didn’t reply, he just looked at Algreth with his eyes darting with an unreadable expression.
He slowly raised his silver sword into the grey air, and then, he smiled. In the completely frozen world, Kairos softly chanted.
Fire will completely flicker in the grey.
Water will rapidly ripple in the silence.
Wind will violently move in the vacuum.
Earth will loudly crack in the silence.
Light will blindingly shine in the dark.
The five distinct elements of the fallen Dragons eagerly answered his call. They defied the absolute laws of frozen time, swirling gracefully around his silver blade in a perfect, harmonious spiral.
Algreth stared in shock and disbelief. "How do you possibly command multiple elements without a soul agreement?"
Algreth shouted, taking another terrified step back. "You are relentlessly violating the fundamental laws of all existence!"
Kairos just swung his blade, Asteria.
SNAP!!
Reality restarted instantly, all the vibrant color rushed back into the world.
ROAAAAR!!
Suddenly, the audience murmurs resumed. The roaring flames of Pyrix exploded back into life. The heavy dust hit the floor. The world resumed the exact moment it had been suddenly left.
Except for one crucial detail. Algreth was no longer holding the position of total combat dominance. He was suddenly standing defensively ten feet away. He was looking genuinely scared, and his dark, legendary sword was trembling in his grip.
Kairos stood dead in the center, with his silver blade pointing calmly down at the crystal.
The crowd blinked vigorously with shock. They didn’t understand what they had missed. For them, it was not even a single, tiny millisecond. One second before, the demon was striking, the next, he staggered away in fear.
But the fine hair on their arms stood straight up, with a chill feeling of aura rushing into the spectator stands.
Algreth’s pale expression was no longer amused or bored. The casual boredom was replaced by a dark and dangerous focus with genuine, creeping fear.
And Kairos...
Kairos’s expression was unreadable. He stood exactly there, his silver sword lowered, staring completely through the terrified demon.
"I told you," Kairos said. His voice was calm, but it was loud enough to be clearly heard over the roaring crowd and the burning flames. "I will absolutely not let you take them."
