Shuu felt like shit when he woke up. Actually, he did not want to wake up at that moment, but his body refused to sleep anymore and he had to open his eyes and start moving around.

Rin was still asleep, but his complexion looked much better. Shuu finally felt a little comfortable leaving Rin alone and exploring a little more.

The guards posted around were completely different from before, and Shuu kept an eye on them to see how they behaved and when they changed shifts. This was all in preparation for the inevitable time when he had to run away from this place.

After a whole day of observation, Shuu finally felt like he was ready to face this challenge. He had mapped out how he could run away from these guards in theory. Now, he only needed to put it into practice.

For now, he went back to his room and decided to try and wake Rin up.

"Rin, can you wake up for me? We need to run from this place. Just give me a sign that you are fine."

Shuu asked Rin with concern-filled eyes.

He was going to run, but not if Rin was not up to it. The decision of what would happen next would depend on Rin as well.

Rin struggled to open his eyes, but he eventually managed to open them. And he looked around with a concerned look.

"S-Shuu... where are we...? Where is Caelis...? I feel... funny..."

Rin complained, and suddenly everything inside the room shook and then fell down. The loud crash was enough to attract significant attention from all around.

But Shuu’s priority was not this crash, but the kid who looked like he was about to have a panic attack. Shuu felt bad for Rin, and he immediately wrapped his arms around Rin’s shoulders.

"Your memory is a little hazy because of the fever, but it’s alright now. We are not in danger. We are currently in another world, and Caelis... is out there somewhere. We can try and find him later. For now, we should get out of here and into a safer space."

Shuu had already stolen some money, so their immediate finances were not a worry for some time. And after that initial phase, Shuu would try to find some kind of job to look after himself and Rin.

Rin looked confused and scared still. But he decided to be brave and nod at Shuu’s words.

"Alright. Let’s leave."

Rin’s body was weak with fever, but he still pushed himself to stand up and walk beside Shuu. That made Shuu’s heart ache a little bit.

He did not want Rin to push himself. But realistically, even Shuu knew that he had no chance of being able to drag Rin out of this place himself.

"Are we going to leave now?"

Rin asked, and Shuu shook his head.

"We cannot leave at the moment. The security is too tight to do that. We will have to wait a little longer. We will make a run for it once the security is less tight and they won’t be able to stop us."

By this, Shuu meant the shift change. And the time for shift change came sooner than Shuu anticipated.

His heart skipped a lot of beats in fear and excitement over what he was about to do. He was ready with the weapons he had gathered as well as his physical powers (if he even had any).

Rin followed Shuu at a calmer pace, and he kept looking around. Unlike Shuu, Rin had his powers, and he had finally calmed down and learned to control them somewhat.

He was still clumsy, but his abilities were getting better by the second.

The current guard at the main door lazily yawned as he tried not to fall asleep. It was early in the morning, and most guests at the inn had finally been kicked out as well.

Now was truly the best time to escape.

"Rin, can you use your powers to hit that man remotely and knock him out? It will make escaping much easier for us."

Shuu reminded Rin, and he nodded before he concentrated. A vase from not too far away floated in the air due to Rin’s powers, and it slowly came closer to the guard.

One second the vase was floating, and the next it had hit the guard in the head, knocking him down.

Shuu immediately grabbed Rin’s hand to drag him out of this space.

"You did well, Rin. Now run as fast as possible. We cannot allow these guards to catch us."

Shuu reminded Rin, and they made a run for it.

For the first time since they had been brought to this world, Shuu saw the outdoors and the sky. It was night time, and various lights dominated the landscape. But none were brighter than the glow of the moon in the sky.

"W-We are finally outside. It feels so good to be here."

Shuu commented, and Rin did not say much. He looked lost in the beauty of this place as well.

"H-Hey, someone knocked the guard out. There are pieces of the vase lying around. S-Someone, alert everyone. There is an intruder in our base."

The panic began to spread quickly, and Shuu decided it was time to run even harder. Rin somehow managed to keep up with Shuu as they ran and ran until they could not run anymore.

Shuu settled down in the park to catch his breath, but he could feel people looking at him and Rin with interest.

They had not approached him yet, but Shuu felt on edge. He wanted to get himself and Rin out of the public eye first.

So it was time for him to go and find an inn to stay at. Then he could start looking for a place where he could work.

And if that was not enough... then he was willing to struggle. But he did not want to feel lonely and be unable to take care of Rin.
